Chapter 2 – New Beginnings

Remus had so many questions running around his head, that he didn’t know where to start. Looking up at his adopted godson, seeing the look of worry on Harry’s face, he slowly let a deep breath out.

“Can you give me my memories back, Headmaster?”

Albus looked shocked at this question, but quickly recovered. “Yes I can, and your memories weren’t taken from you, Remus, just shielded until the time came to reveal them.”

Remus felt Harry’s hand on his shoulder giving him his quiet support. “Please do it. I would like to remember my daughter fully.”

Albus stood slowly and motioned to Minerva to stand at the other side of Remus opposite to Harry. He aimed his wand at Remus and quietly said the counterspell.

Harry was watching Remus intently and nothing happened at first. Suddenly, Remus grasped his head and fell to the floor, screaming with agony. Harry went to grab the man that he had come to love as a father, but Minerva put her hand on his arm.

“I’m sorry, Harry, but he has to do this himself. Otherwise, he will not be able to move forward.” She looked down at the writhing man, with tears in her eyes. “This is how we found him all those years ago; he has to finish what fate started so long ago.”

Remus’s screams were loud and long, more like howls than screams. They were so loud that the occupants of the room didn’t hear the door open and three cloaked figures enter the room.

“Silencio!”
Three heads turned towards the voice as a Silencing Charm hit Remus and made the room deathly quiet.

Severus Snape, Hogwarts resident Potions master, took his hood down and turned, with a sneer at Harry, towards the Headmaster.

“Albus, I see you couldn’t wait until I returned.” With that, he leant down to Remus, took a vial out of his robes and poured a potion into the silently screaming mouth. Within a few seconds, he had stopped writhing on the floor and lay still.

With a care that Harry had never seen before, Snape gently picked Remus up and put him back into his chair, murmuring in his ear.

Harry realised whilst Snape was helping Remus that the other two cloaked figures had come to stand by the chair. One of the figures held their hand out and Snape took it gently and put it on Remus’s arm. The figure knelt in front of the man who was now looking dazedly at them. When Snape pulled the hood down, he revealed a pretty young woman with black hair with auburn highlights.

“Finite Incantatem.” Severus’s voice was heard loudly in the room even though it was only a whisper.

“El...El...Ell...Ellorra?” Remus seemed to stutter, reached up and touched the side of her face as if it had a mind of its own. She didn’t flinch, but seemed to lean into the touch.

“Yes, Papa.” Her voice was soft and had a slight accent, but to Remus it was definitely music to his ears. Tears were flowing down his face, but he didn’t care.

He looked up into the face of the man who had come to mean everything to him over the last few months.

“Thank you, Severus, for bringing my daughter to me.”

“There isn’t anything that I wouldn’t do for you, Remus. I’m glad that I could go get her for you.” Severus leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on his lover's forehead. As he stood up, he sneered at the look of sheer horror on Harry’s face.

“What’s the matter, Potter, cat got your tongue?” He waited for the young Gryffindor’s fiery reply but was to be disappointed.

“I’m sorry, Professor, it’s just that hearing about your relationship and seeing it, are two different things.”

Harry had the joy of seeing the usually emotionless man with a stunned expression on his face.

“Enough, Harry, Severus.” Albus turned to the last cloaked figure. “I think you can remove your cloak, my boy.”

Harry looked at the figure and he couldn’t believe it when the hood fell down to reveal… Malfoy... Draco Bloody Malfoy. Could this day get any weirder?

Malfoy smirked as he looked over at the look on Harry’s face. “What’s the matter, Potter? You didn’t expect to see me here, did you?”

Harry looked over at Remus, Snape and Ellorra, and then took a deep breath. “No I didn’t, but I would like to thank you for helping to reunite my family.” With that, he held out his hand and waited.

Draco looked at the extended hand, deliberating whether to take it or not. Looking at the boy in front of him, he decided that maybe it was time for a truce. Truth to be told, he was fed up with all the fighting. During the last year he had found his attitude to the Dark Lord and his father’s activities changing, and he didn’t want to become a Death Eater anymore. Potter was on right the right side, but he wasn’t going to tell him that...not just yet.

He clasped the hand firmly and gasped when he felt a tingling feeling shoot along their joined hands; his eyes flew up to Harry’s face and he saw that there was a look of astonishment on the other boy’s face. Draco pulled his hand away and looked over at his godfather and his lover.

“Severus, would you please take Remus, Ellorra and Harry to the quarters that have been arranged for them please?” Albus smiled at Remus, who still sat holding his daughter.

Snape straightened, leaving his hand on Remus’s shoulder, and looked at the headmaster. "I think everyone would feel better if they were able to stay at the house, Albus, so that they can get to know each other in private for the last few weeks before school starts.”

Albus’s eyes twinkled as he looked at the Potions master. "Yes, I think you’re right, Severus. It would be beneficial to everyone.” He turned and looked at Draco. “I also think that Draco should go as well. It would help Ellorra to have another friendly face there to help settle her in.”

Harry looked at Draco who, surprisingly, didn’t have his trademark smirk on his face, but was looking at Ellorra and Severus with an expression on his face that, if Harry didn’t know any better, he would have thought of as …love. Malfoy…loved…them.

A strange feeling shot through Harry, but he pushed it down.
