Oh dear, it has been quite a while, hasn’t it? Well here I am, ready and willing to update again! Because I never seem to update in a timely manner and people may forget to check for this story, I have decided to come up with a new system: a mailing list! Yes, yes, this means that if you want me to email you whenever I have updated this story, I shall! My email is baby_bat0323@hotmail.com so feel free to either email me there and request to be put on the list, or leave your email in a review.
Just want to shout out to those of you who have been so patient with me, and I won’t keep you waiting longer for this chapter.
=================
Harry slammed into the solid form in front of him, dropping the map in his hands and reaching out for something to grab in order to keep from toppling over.
His hands fisted in a warm material, cotton, if he wasn’t mistaken, and then he was falling backwards, dragging the helpless victim down with him.
The two landed in an ungraceful heap on the floor, Harry still clutching the black material as if he was worried the floor would cave in. When he did finally let go, it was not willingly, but influenced by the strong pale hands that pried his fingers away.
“Did your parents not teach you to pay attention to where you’re walking when you were a child?” a sallow looking man snarled, his black eyes blazing with fury. He stood quickly, not offering a hand up to the young man that was sprawled on the floor.
“Uh, sorry, I’m new and-“ Harry began explaining as he pulled himself up slowly, placing a hand on his lower back, pain shooting up his spine.
He was cut off by the angry voice again “And being new exempts you from the basic rules of human nature?”
“Look, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into you, and knock you down. It was an accident; I’ll pay more attention in the future.” Harry glared at the man. “You don’t have to be so bloody rude about it you know. Its not like you were hurt.”
The man’s pale hands clenched into fists, and he found himself wanting to reach out and choke the insolent child in front of him. “What is your name?” he managed to grind out.
“Harry.” Came the smug reply.
“Your.full.name.” He found himself biting his tongue just to keep in check.
Harry stared up at the man in front of him, studying him. His pale face was pinched, making his crooked nose more profound. A curtain of greasy looking black hair hung limply around his face, swaying slightly as he tried to compose himself. It was impossible to get a good idea of how built the dark man was, since his black shirt was long and loose on him. His slacks were fitted nicely, but still too loose to determine a general figure.
“I presume you are finished gawking at me, what is your name? I will not ask again.”
“…What is your name?” Harry shot back, not liking the way this man tried to boss him around. He had gotten enough of that treatment to last a lifetime.
“That’s it. You’re coming with me to the office right now!” the man grabbed Harry by the upper arm and practically dragged the fuming teen to the main office, where he was shoved in front of Professor McGonagall.
“Professor Snape, Mr. Potter, what is going on?” she snapped at them both, her eyes taking in the tense situation.
“This insolent boy ran into me, knocking us both down, and then refused to give his name.” Snape snarled, glaring at Harry.
“What?! Did you smack your head or something? Yes, I knocked us both over, by accident and then I apologised for doing so. It was becauseyou were being rude that I didn’t give my name.” Harry shot back at Snape.
“Why you ignorant little-“
“Enough!” came a loud cry from the back of the office. Dumbledore strode forward, looking at both of the people in front of him. “It seems as if this is all just one big misunderstanding, there is no need for harsh words that will be regretted later on.” He voiced in a much softer tone.
“Regret? I will regret nothing that I say to this impudent child. Albus, he needs to learn to respect his elders. He would not even tell me his full name, this just proves how obnoxious and superior he thinks he is-“
“Harry Potter.” Harry was fixed with an incredulous look. “You wanted to know my name so badly, well there it is. Harry. James.Potter.”
Snape didn’t seem placated in the least. His normally sallow face turned a startling shade of red and his jaw seemed to tense. “Potter?” he spat the word out as if it were a vulgar thing to say.
Harry’s eyebrows scrunched together, he looked confused. “Yes, Potter. Do you have a problem with my name or something?”
Snape looked like he was about to say something particularly nasty, but Dumbledore cut in. “Severus, perhaps you should get ready for your next class. First period lets out in just a few minutes.” He spoke quietly, but there was no mistaking the command behind it.
Snape’s eyes bored into Harry’s for a minute, cold and hard, before he flicked his gaze away. “Yes headmaster. I will do so now.” And with that he turned on his heel and practically sprinted from the room.
Harry stared after him, a frown on his face and anger flashing in his emerald eyes.
“My apologies Harry, Professor Snape does not take kindly to new students, particularly those who knock him over in hallways on the first day back.” Dumbledore smiled at him with a twinkle in his eye.
Harry took a deep breath, calming himself. “Why did he react that way when I mentioned my last name?”
“Never mind that my boy, that is just how he is.” Dumbledore shared a look with McGonagall, before looking back at Harry. “The good news is that I’ve just finished with the new students I told you about, and I suppose we are ready to sort you into your house.”
Harry turned and only just noticed there were students occupying the chairs in the office. They had the same plain black uniforms as him, and looked at him with some curiosity.
“Since the four of you are all here, we may as well head down to the Main Hall right away.” Dumbledore clapped his hands. “Ah, but first, introductions.”
The three students in the chairs stood up quickly, eager to be sorted. Dumbledore motioned to a platinum blond with a very slight frame and a slightly dazed look in her eyes “This is Luna Lovegood.” He moved on to a plump boy with rosy cheeks and dark hair who was shuffling his feet nervously “Neville Longbottom.” And lastly he pointed out a rather smug looking boy with slicked back blond hair and a smirk on his face “Draco Malfoy.”
“I would mention Harry Potter, but I trust you all heard him introduce himself to Professor Snape only a moment ago.” He chuckled. “Now, shall we proceed?”
With that, Dumbledore began walking out of the office, four rather mismatched students shuffling out behind him.

Well this isn’t that great of an update, I rewrote it three times because I wasn’t satisfied, and I still am not pleased with it. But either way, review.
Also, I need your opinion on something! I will soon need to put the teachers in this, and I need to know what modern day classes they should be teaching! So let me know who you think should teach what.
And if you want to be on that mailing list let me know via review or email baby_bat0323@hotmail.com
