What Are These Feelings?
James backed away from Snape, looking over his shoulder at Lily who was still in the doorway watching. He turned back around to face Sirius and smirked.
“Can you finish this?” He asked his best mate.
“Under control,” Sirius said turning around to face Snape who was still laying on the ground holding his cheek.
James walked towards Lily, finally shaking his throbbing hand a bit. He knew it was going to bruise, but to him it was worth it. James ran a his good hand though his hair as he neared her, hoping she would not slug him a good one.
“He shouldn’t have called you that,” James said glancing down at her once he was within a few feet of her as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Sirius was watching Snape squirm a bit on the ground as he attempted to get up.
“Where do you think your going?” He asked him raising an eyebrow.
“Away from you,” Snape snapped, his wand pointing up at Sirius’ face for his own defense. Damn him for being bigger then me he thought but never let his fear or weakness show on his face.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lily had turned away from him, to leave but resisted. She still wanted to give him a piece of her mind.
“If you had not come along, none of this would have happened would it?” Lily asked him. The truth was she was mad that he had come over, but happy as well since she now knew the truth.
“I’m sorry,” James said quietly looking at her. “But it was worse of him to call you what he did when you were just trying to stand up to him.” He was trying to be mature about the conversation instead of saying something along the lines of ‘you can’t blame me for wanting you to myself.’
“It’s my life though James,” Lily said. She knew he was right, but it still bothered her. Suddenly though, his sincerity was getting to him, and she could tell he felt genuinely bad for what had happened.
“But thank you for standing up for me,” she said with a small smile playing on her lips. Lily was looking at him, the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Suddenly a yell broke the silence, and both her and James turned to see where it had come from.
Sirius had hit Snape with a cleaning spell claiming he needed his mouth washed out. Now Severus was running at full speed towards the castle, his mouth foaming bubbles and leaving a small trail behind him.
James could not help but start laughing, as he watched the boy run.
“Real mature,” Lily said with a roll of her eyes as she watched bubbled pop from the trail Severus had left behind when he ran between James and her.
After a second, James bit his bottom lip before nodding, “your right,” he said trying his best not to laugh.
Normally Lily would have said her goodbyes by now with a smart remark, but for some reason she did not want to. It is only because he stood up for you, that is why you want to stick around, her mind told her, but in her heart she felt something different.
“So why me?” Lily asked suddenly looking at him. She had heard from a few people why, the reasons expanding from he just wanted her body, to just because he could not have her.
