chp. 3
While waiting for his flight to be called Harry scanned the crowded lobby of the airport. Ever vigilant for any sign that he was being followed. Because if Dumbledore knew where he was there was a good chance he would try and stop him from leaving the country, even though he was well over the legal age for being an adult in the wizarding world heck even the muggle one for that matter. Seeing no one of interest at the moment he stole a glance at the digital clock hanging over the clerks desk, 7:30PM. 'Great another half hour to go.' he thought to himself with an impatient sigh.
Pulling the ministries note from his pocket he unfolded it and reread it again not wanting to miss a bit of information about his new family member, not that the letter contained all that much information about her to begin with. All he knew for sure was that her name was Evelyn Kincaid, that she had been attacked by a group of WereHyenas after closing her shop Supernatural Abyss, and was in stable condition at Lindon Memorial Hospital in St. Louis. After scanning the letter one last time, sure that he had memorized every detail about his unknown cousin that he could he folded the note and placed it once more in his back pocket. It was then that he heard the clerk come on the loud speaker and announce the boarding call for his flight.
Standing he made his way to gate 4 and took his place in line. Glad that it didn't take long for him to board the plane. Once he was on board he found his isle seat and sat down, buckling himself in as the last of the passengers found their seats and strapped themselves in for take off.
As the plane took off Harry let himself make a mental check list of things he would have to do when he got to St. Louis.
Get out of the airport safely.
Get a cab to Lindon Memorial Hospital.
Visit his cousin.
Find a place to stay while in the city.
Make sure that Dumbledore did not find him.
Stopping at the top five things he had to do when he arrived in St. Louis Harry settled himself more comfortably in his seat and tried to catch a little sleep before the plane landed and he was on the go again.
The next thing he knew he was being shaken gently by one the flight attendants telling him that the plan was getting ready to land. 'Must have been tired more than I thought.' he thought to himself as he sat up in his seat and waited for the plane to land.
After the plane stopped rolling on the run way and they were allowed to disembark the plane Harry stepped off the airplane and onto American soil. Wasting no time to take in the sights of an American airport he hurriedly made his way into the airport and through one of the customs lines. Finally finished being checked over for weapons and contraband he once again weaved his way through the bustling crowds in the lobby until he reached the lobby doors and stepped outside.
Taking a moment to look around Harry was glad that it didn't take him all that long to find an unoccupied cab that was willing to take him to the hospital, and a little over a half hour latter he was paying the cab driver and standing in front of the Lindon Memorial Hospital. With a million and one questions running through his mind, the top one being if his cousin was alright. Wanting an answer to that question he opened the door and walked over to the receptionists desk.
"Excuse me Miss. Can you help me? I'm looking for my cousin Evelyn Kincaid. She was brought in the other day after she was attacked by WereHyenas." At the mention of the were attack a women with flaming red hair and soft brown eyes looked up from the paper work she had been filing. As she stood up from behind her desk Harry could see a name tag pinned to her hospital uniform, which read Martha Vane. Walking around the desk he watched as the women looked him over before picking up a file off the top of her desk and opening it. "You say your a cousin of the victim Mr.?" "Mr. Potter, and yes I'm her cousin. Is she alright? Can I see her?" he asked anxious to make sure she was alright. "Well Mr. Potter she was beaten up pretty badly. But for the most part we think she will be alright. We have a doctor in with her right now but if you'll follow me I'll show you to her room and you can wait outside until the doctor is done speaking to her. "Thank you Miss Vane. That would be much appreciated." he thanked the women as she turned and led him down a long corridor and around a few more corners. Coming to a stop in front of a room with a caution sign on the door. At Harry's confused look the nurse pointed to the sign and began to explain its presence. "This is were we bring anyone who is a lycanthrope or has been attacked by one. Its safer for everyone involved if we do it this way." she assured him when the skeptical look remained on his face. "I'll just leave you here to wait for the doctor to come out. If thats alright with you? She shouldn't be that long." "Thats fine, Thank you." he told the women even though he could tell that she wanted to be no were near the room or its occupants. With a relieved smile on her face Harry watched as she quickly turned and headed back the way she had come.
Turning toward the room his cousin was in he was surprised to see that the door had been left slightly ajar and that if he was quiet he could not only see into the room but also hear what was being discussed.
