Surely You Don't Think?

The Basilisk

by Of a Slytherin Nature.

Note: The first few chapters will be a little short, due to informational needs. After I get the ball rolling, they'll be longer, I promise.

“:...Parseltounge...:”

Hermione had been instructed by Dumbledore to follow that stupid Potter kid today. Yesterday, it had been Ron's turn, and now it was hers. She sighed. Harry was such a simpleton. He was no more extraordinary than Neville Longbottom.

She watched as Harry ran into Moaning Myrtle's bathroom with morbid curiosity. What in the world was he doing? Why was he going into a girl's bathroom? Was he some kind of sick pervert?! Her thoughts became more and more frantic, but when she saw the bathroom sinks part and a gigantic snake come out, she very nearly fainted.

That is, until she saw it transform into a hot gothic guy.

But he was touching Harry, like he was some kind of treasure, which, of course, he wasn't, he was just a freak, after all... And she could see the desire in the man's eyes as he spoke. Why!? Hermione did the only thing that could take out her growing frustration. She screamed.

LINE

Harry had finally calmed down after a few moments, when he noticed the screaming was gone. Salazar looked fit to kill, and so did Hermione, but Harry somehow knew that Lord Slytherin (when did the name change?) meant him no harm. He could feel protectiveness radiating off the man in waves. He slowly unclenched his fists as he calmed himself, and took a deep breath, closing his eyes.

How had Hermione known he was here? He wondered. And why does she look so angry? He ignored these questions in favor of watching the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets (for he realized that's what it was) close itself with the quiet grinding of stone and granite. He looked at Lord Slytherin, who seemed to have composed himself at last.

Lord Slytherin seemed to be considering something, before at last coming to a decision. “Come, little one. We must go see the esteemed Headmaster,” he drawled the word 'esteemed' sardonically. “Before I take you with me and leave to my estates.”

Harry blinked at him. “Sorry, but what did you say sir?” he asked, rather dazed by the fact that Lord Slytherin assumed he would simply go with him, no questions asked. Lord Slytherin rose a delicate eyebrow at him.

“Surely you don't think you're going to defeat my wayward heir without proper training? And did you think I would stay in this place? Certainly not. And also, I have a debt to repay you, little one, and I intend upon doing just that.” He said in a manner that didn't necessarily demean him, but one that suggested he should have figured that out on his own. Harry blinked, and then nodded, falling into step behind him as Lord Slytherin lead the way to the Headmaster's office.

They forgot about the silencing charm on Hermione. (insert evil laugh here)

TO BE CONTINUED...

To my Reviewers:

Since there are so many of you, I figured that I'll just say this now to each and every one of you. I'm sorry it took so long, and don't kill me!!! +hides+ Anyway, thank you for your patience and support, and I'll try to update at least once every few weeks, but I have a lot going on right now, and it's really sad that it takes a couple of deaths in the family to get me inspired once more. Thank you to Mistress of Malfoy, who issued the lovely plotbunny, to Phantom of the Opera, Nightwish, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Voltaire, and Lacuna Coil, for giving me inspiration through song, and thank you to my spell-check, which I worship.
