Mind to Mind

When she walked into Professor Snape's office he had two vials of potion in his hand. "I will not be made a fool in front of my entire class! Drink this; it's the antidote for the Felix Felicis."

"But, professor, I didn't take any of the potion…" Hermione started to explain.

"Then it will have no effect on you! Drink it!" he said sternly. Hermione took the potion from his hand and drank in down in front of him.

"Have a seat Miss Granger." He motioned to a couple arm chairs that were sitting across from each other in front of the fireplace in his office.

She sat down and started twisting her hands together, looking around the room. His office was lined with shelves, covered in jars of potion ingredients; some were dried, others were in a preserving fluid of one type or another. In the middle of the room was a large work bench with lab and potion making equipment. On the far side of the room, facing the center was his desk, piled neatly with parchments to be graded. She noticed that from his desk, he would be able to see every door that entered into his office. She suspected it must be from being a spy all those years, not wanting his back exposed to any open entrance. She liked his office.

"I'm really sorry Professor… I didn't mean…" she muttered looking down at her hands.

"The potion will make you do things you wouldn't normally do Miss Granger." He said softly.

"But from what I understand, it'll only give you the luck and courage to do something you want to do anyway. Isn't that right?"

"We will see. The antidote has had time to get into your system. Now for the second potion."

Hermione recognized the Veritaserum. She stared at the bottle then back at her professor. "How much do you want me to take?" She knew what taking too much could do.

"The standard 3 drops should suffice. Please hold out your tongue." Hermione, as uncomfortable as she was at taking Veritaserum, wanted him to know the truth. She closed her eyes and opened her mouth. She felt the three drops hit her tongue.

"I will explain how this will work while we are waiting for the effects of the potion to take effect. I will do all the questioning, and of course, you will be answering truthfully." He sounded tired to Hermione.

"Professor, you sound tired. I didn't mean to embarrass you, I swear." She was nearly in tears needing him to understand.

He ignored her comments and got himself a glass of Firewhisky while he waited. He sat in the armchair opposite her, sipping the amber liquid.

"What is your name?"

"Hermione Jean Granger."

"How old are you?"

"18"

"What did you, Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley go looking for on the third floor corridor your first year?"

"We were looking for the Sorcerer's Stone. Harry found it."

"Are you the one who took ingredients out of my private storage in your second year?"

Hermione blushed, "Yes."

"Have you ever made the Polyjuice potion?" He smirked as Hermione's blush deepened and spread down her neck, and disappeared under the collar of her school uniform top.

"Yes."

"Was it successful?" He couldn't help it.

"It was for Harry and Ron."

"But?"

"It wasn't for me. I accidentally used a cat hair."

He laughed. He knew this of course, having been the one to make the potion to return her to normal.

"All right. What is "Moony's" real name?"

"Remus Lupin." Hermione was glad he was changing the topic.

"OK, I think I've established the serum is working. Did you ingest any of the Felix Felicis potion you were making?"

"No sir. It had just turned the correct color and was starting to bubble, but the drops hadn't starting jumping from the cauldron yet."

"Then, if not under a potion's control, why did you kiss me?" He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

Hermione's breathing was getting erratic. "I wanted to," she whispered looking at her hands.

"Look at me." He said calmly. She looked up at him and couldn't read any expression on his face. "I'm going to perform Legilimency on you. It's the fastest and most accurate way to get this cleared up. You will not try to block me, understand?"

"Yes." Hermione was embarrassed. She wanted to tell him she had been dreaming of him for over a year, among other things, but now he was going to see for himself.

She took a deep breath as the professor pulled his wand out and pointed it at her. "Legilimens!"

Professor Snape started sifting through scenes in Hermione's mind as if going backwards in time.

He saw himself leaning over her and looking at the potion, the drops had not started jumping yet.

He walked up behind her at her desk and saw her take a deep breath, the look in her eyes wasn't fear.

She watched him when he wasn't paying attention.

She talked about her feeling for him with Ginny in the library.

He saw her lying in bed asleep, a smile appeared on her face as she whispered "Severus" in her sleep then moaned.

He saw her standing in the shower with her eyes closed, running her hands seductively over her body. "Touch me Severus," she whispered and when he saw her hand lower between her legs, and heard her gasp, he snapped out of her mind.
