Paths Being Paved

As Serevus walked down to his office he thought about that bitch Vara walking in and acting like she owned the whole fucking school. It pissed him off that she got away with it without Dumbledore saying one word to her. “That fucking bitch doesn’t know who she is talking to like that.”

“Actually that bitch as you put it has no reason to worry about you. To her you aren’t anything but an ant that she can step on.” Bellona hissed from behind him.

“Do any of you know how to leave someone the fuck alone?” He growled at her.

“No me I like a good fight and now I know why I always have. You know seeing that I am the goddess of war.” She purred back at him.

She noticed that his color paled a little but decided not to go there at the moment. “Well good for you. Go cause death and destruction somewhere else. Leave Hogwarts out of it.”

That hurt her and she looked away so he couldn’t see it all though he saw it before she did. “I actually didn’t come here to argue with you. I was wondering if you had a potion that would help with my sleeping. I haven’t slept in three nights.” She whispered as she looked around the hall.

“Look I’m sorry I didn’t mean that.” He said to her.

Her head snapped back around to him and she growled. “You can hurt me all you want but don’t fucking lie to me. I’m not as stupid as you want me to be. You think I chose to be Goddess of War? Do you now what it is like to see people die because of you? Because you have a bad mood and then suddenly hundreds of thousand of people are dead? You don’t know the pain I go through when I see someone fall n my name. I didn’t choose this. My father chose this because I was bad when I was a little kid. You know what keep your potion. I would rather hear the screams in my head at the moment then have to swallow my pride for you again. Goodnight Professor.”

She turned to leave but he grabbed her arm to stop her. “Come I will get you that potion. I know how it is to hear screams in your head when you try to sleep.”

Tears wanted to fall but she wouldn’t let them. She wouldn’t allow someone like him to see her cry. She was after all the goddess of war. No goddess of war should cry. So she followed without a sound as he led her to his office. When they entered the office he released her arm and it fell to her side. “Wait right her and I’ll get you a box of them so you don’t have to keep coming to me. Every week I’ll send you some.”

“You don’t have to do that.” She said softly.

“I may not like the fact that you guys are here. It doesn’t mean that I will let you suffer.” He said before he walked into a room behind his desk.

“Now who would have thought that?” A voice whispered into her mind with a little giggle.

“Oh shut up Istus.” She shot back.

“Now, now sister what would father think?” Istus asked her.

“Fuck what father thinks.” She hissed back.

Before Istus could say anything else Serevus walked back in carrying a small box. “There are ten bottles in here. Use only one a night. It should help. If it doesn’t comeback and we will figure something else out.”

She took the box from him and nodded. “Thank you Professor. You don’t know what this means to me.”

“I take it every night. Believe me I understand.” He said softly before he turned to walk away.

She took this as he wanted her to leave so she turned around to leave. “Would you like a drink of Fire whiskey?”

She turned and looked at him. The look on his face was unreadable and at that moment she wished she had the gift to read someone’s mind that didn’t have war on it. “Yes that would be good.”

He turned to the cabinet by the door he went into and grabbed two glasses and a bottle of whiskey. “Come sit and talk for a moment. I swear I don’t bite.”

Before she could stop herself she smiled and said. “Not even if I ask you to?”

For a moment she thought that he was going to get mad but instead she was rewarded with something totally different. He lifted his head back and laughed loudly. It was a beautiful sound to her ears and she prayed that it wouldn’t end but of course it did.

“I’m sorry I say things without thinking about it. Something that I have done my whole life.” She said with a little blush.

“No reason to be sorry. I haven’t laughed for real in many years. Close the door behind you and come sit by the fire.” He said as he walked to the couch that was facing the fire.

She did what he said and then walked over to the sofa. When she sat down he took the box away from her and handed her a glass filled with warm whiskey. They both sat there with out talking for the longest time until Serevus cleared his throat and looked at her. “Tell how are you doing adjusting to your new powers?”

“Honestly I hate it because all I feel like doing is causing trouble. I don’t want to do that but it’s a strong feeling and I know that sooner or later it will happen. When it does I will see more people die. More voices I will hear when I try to sleep. Maybe it’ll finally drive me mad. I really don’t know how I survived all those years. How could I like that?” She asked him.

“Before your soul wasn’t mixed with someone else’s soul I guess she is that voice that tells you it is wrong to want that.” He said to her.

She looked into the fire and sighed. “She is so strong and doesn’t even know it. I think she is the reason why I am as strong as I am now. I haven’t felt this powerful before. Honestly don’t know if I like feel this strong.” She whispered to him.

******************************

Istus smiled as she listened to what her sister and Serevus was talking about. Little did they know that this conversation set a journey in action that they will be taking together? How disappointed Venus was going to be when she found out. “Istus how are you doing dear?”

“Ah Dumbledore the one that I wanted to speak to. I’m better now. It isn’t as scary as it was at first. I see things so much clearer now.” She said as she turned to face.

“That is good to hear. I am happy to know that you aren’t scared anymore.” He said to her.

“Oh I didn’t say I still wasn’t scared. I can just cope with it better now. I don’t want like knowing what will happen before it does and what makes it happens. But that is who I am so I have to deal with it. But this isn’t why I wanted to talk to you. I can see everyone’s fate but my own and that is for some reason even scarier then seeing everyone’s path. Why cannot I see mine?” She asked him.

“Dear would it be any fun to know what will happen in every moment of your life? Life is excitement even you cannot change that. And knowing wouldn’t make it life it would make it like a play or something. Don’t you see that?” He asked her.

She nodded with a smile on her face. At least I know that I won’t have to play along when something good happens to me now.” She said with a huge smile.

“Now that I helped you I was wondering if you could do me a favor.” He said softly.

“You want to know if Serevus will find happiness soon. Am I right?” She asked him.

“Now they can you know everything instead of me.” He said with a grin as he nodded.

“Let’s just say that his path has changed for the better and he doesn’t even know it yet.” She said with a wink.

“Good I am glad. May I ask with whom?” He asked her.

“Now, now headmaster that isn’t for you to know but soon it will become clear.” She said with a wink.

He nodded as there was a knock on the door. “I will go it seems that your teachers have arrived.”

“Thank you Dumbledore for all that you have done for me.” She said as he headed to the door.

When he opened the door she saw two girls and two boys standing there. “Come on in guys I swear I don’t bite.”

Dumbledore smiled at this as they entered. “Now teach her well and no asking what goddess she is. If she wanted you to know that then she will tell you. Until then no asking.”

“No need to ask Hermione already knows who I am. She is the brightest witch of her age.” Istus said as she sat back and crossed her legs.

Hermione blushed as she nodded. “Fine but no asking about your fates. It isn’t for you to know.”

“That’s right it’s only for nosey people.” She said with a smug smile on her face.

“I like her.” A red haired boy whispered to the black haired boy.

“Good to know that someone does at the moment.” She said to Dumbledore before he walks out of the room.

“Don’t worry Istus everyone will love you before it’s over.” He said before he closed the door behind him.

“Goddess I hope not.” She muttered as they walked more into the room to get a better look at what she looked like.

She sat there looking at them as they stood there looking at her. Hermione finally cleared her throat and smiled at her. “Istus is known as the goddess of fate. She is also the goddess of destiny, divination, future and honesty. So Dumbledore is no longer the one that knows all. That would be her.”

Istus smiled and nodded. “So smart. My sister paid special attention to you.”

“Vara said the same thing to her.” The boy with black hair said to her.

“Ah the most famous Harry Potter. I think about you all the time now.” She said with a smile on her face.

“Really in what way?” The red haired girl asked her.

“Do not worry Ginny I need not think of him in that way. I have my eyes set on another.” She said with a smile.

Ginny smiled at her and nodded. “Yeah I like her too.”

“Now what will you guys be teaching me today?” She asked them with a smile as she picked up the wand that she had gotten from Dumbledore.

“We will be start teaching you how to use your wand for simple things first. The faster you pick it up the faster we can move on to the bigger things. Most days we will be teaching you two or more subjects. We have others teaching our sisters. Though we will switch when you learn what you need from us. We all hate to admit it but there is always someone better then us in other subjects.” The red haired boy said to her.

“Ron so good to finally meet the one that survived his twin brothers and all their pranks. I have to say I wouldn’t have been able to do that.” She said with a laugh.

“Don’t tell them that. They’ll target you all the time.” He said to her.

“Oh don’t worry about that their minds will be on other things soon. And neither of them are me.” She said to him.

His eyes went wide with surprise. “Really I wonder what will take their minds off pranks.”

“Do we really have to spell it out for you?” Harry asked him.

Ron gasped and then smiled. “I see now.”

“Let’s hope so.” His sister said to him with a smile.
