A plan in mind

Harry sat in Hermione’s library reading a book. He wasn’t sure if you could call it that considering that he had not turned a page in almost an hour and couldn’t remember anything he had read. It had been three days since he had confronted Draco and he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He needed a distraction. As he thought that, he heard the front door open. He hoped it was Hermione and not Snape, although he wasn’t too eager to see her either. He wondered if she knew her silencing spell slipped when she was… excited.

He heard footsteps outside the door and turned to find a stunning redhead grinning at him from the door. She walked across the floor to sit across from him in one of the plush chairs.

“Hey, Harry.” She greeted with a smirk. He nodded, not sure why she was there and a little wary of her motives.

“Hello, Ginny… how are you?” he finally asked and she gave him a delighted smile.

“Quite bored actually and Hermione told me you were here in the house all by yourself.”

He shrugged. “No where else to be. I think, though I am going to find a place tomorrow. I hate intruding on Hermione and Snape.” He told her. She tilted her head and gave him a sultry look.

“You can always come stay with me. I wouldn’t mind the company.” She said with a wink. He sighed inwardly. He should have expected this.

“Ginny, I’m not interested. I just broke up with Draco and you are married.” He told her bluntly. She shook her head.

“I have an open marriage, Harry.” She reminded him and moved to sit on the arm of his chair. She ran a hand through his hair the way she knew he liked. He sighed.

“Open or not, there will never be anything between us again, Ginny. I’m not ready for anything right now either way.” He told her. She pouted.

“Well, I had to try, Harry. It’s not easy being considered the girl who turned our savior gay.” She said playfully. He smiled at her.

“I don’t think you need help with your reputation, Ginny, but when I am ready to… see someone again, I will make sure I am seen with you first, alright?” he told her and rolled his eyes. She laughed again and he laughed with her.

“I’m going to hold you to that, Harry. Actually, I just came because I thought you might want someone to talk to. I’m sure it isn’t easy living with Hermione and Snape, with them being newlyweds and all.” She said moving back to her own seat. Harry nodded, remembering his earlier thoughts about the silencing charm.

“It would be easier if Hermione’s charms didn’t slip when she…uh…” he said with a wry smile. Ginny frowned for a moment and then burst into laughter.

“You mean last night?” she asked and he nodded.

“I swear I choked when I heard Snape call her mistress. That is not something I want to experience again any time soon. I would like for them to keep their sex life far from me.” He said. Ginny laughed again, making a note to mention this to Hermione to embarrass her.

“So, I heard about Draco. What happened, Harry? Do you want to talk about it?” she asked sympathetically. She remembered how hurt she had been when she had found that Blaise had cheated on her the first time and she knew Harry must be feeling just as bad. He didn’t know that Draco hadn’t cheated.

Harry shrugged. “He cheated on me, Ginny. I couldn’t deal with it anymore. At first I thought it was a one time thing but… I love him but not enough to let him keep hurting me like that.”

She nodded. “How did you find out? Do you know the other person?”

Harry shook his head. “No, I don’t and I don’t want to. I went to surprise him one day for lunch and he wasn’t there. I saw his boss in the elevator and started talking to him. He was really surprised when I mentioned Draco working late every Tuesday and the big project he was working on. That made me suspicious.” Harry paused and took a deep breath.

“I followed him one Tuesday and he went to someone’s house. I waited outside. He was there for a little more than an hour. When he came out he was straightening his clothes and he gave someone a hug. I wasn’t sure what to think but if it had been innocent, he would have told me, right? He lied to me. He kept going back and finally after about a month, I couldn’t take it anymore. I showed him what he would be missing and left.”

Ginny sat back in her chair and watched Harry. She could tell he was on the verge of tears and it upset her. The relationship had been broken because Draco was afraid to admit his weakness to Harry. Despite what he had said earlier, she had the feeling that Draco was afraid Harry would reject him which was absurd. Harry was very much in love with his Slytherin and they were perfect together.

“Do you think there was something else that could have been going on?” she asked.

He smirked at her. “He tried to blame it on me, Ginny. Tried to say I was neglecting him. I should have known not to trust him.” He said bitterly.

“Well, Harry, there are a lot of things you don’t know and maybe this is one of them. Maybe there are extenuating circumstances.” She said gently and he glared at her.

“There is no excuse for cheating. Just because you and Blaise do it so regularly that you decided to have an open marriage doesn’t make it right. When you are with someone, you have to respect them enough to not cheat.” He said angrily. She held up a hand and nodded.

“Blaise and I are a completely different story, I know. Look, Harry, will you go somewhere with me next week?” she asked. He was slightly startled at the way she had changed the subject. Normally when faced with criticism about her marriage, she set her temper loose on whoever dared to comment.

“Sure Ginny.” He agreed after realizing she was waiting for an answer. “But remember what I said about us…” he warned. She laughed.

“I remember, Harry. Besides, I think you are the one person Blaise would object to me sleeping with. He knows how I felt about you. So what do you think about the chances for the Cannons this year?” she said changing the subject.

They talked for a little more than an hour and when Ginny left, she had a plan firmly in mind. Now she needed to talk to Draco.
