The New Room

A/N: Hey! Deathly Hallows is the BEST BOOK EVER. EVER. I mean EVER. :D :D :D. Got it at midnight and had it read by 2:00pm Saturday (I slept like 3 hours max). My friend had it done by 7:34 am, but she started before me because I had to drive home before I could start reading. Bah! No fair! I'm listening to the audiobook at work, and I keep crying at my desk. People look at me funny.

A/N/N: About this chapter... I know it's short. But I liked this ending. I'm keeping it like this and the next chapter is going to be smut. Thanks for sticking with me, I like to have plot with my porn.

With the invisibility cloak on, Hermione was let out of the common room. She headed along the corridor to the closest shortcut to the seventh floor. The Fat Lady had called out after she left, not bbeing able to see the student who bothered her. Before she got to the tapestry leading to the secret staircase, Hermione heard her name, however badly mispronounced, called after her.

“It’s Her-My-Oh-Nee,” she corrected automatically before turning around to see who it was.

“Sorry,” Remus responded to her voice. He was standing in front of the Fat Lady and had turned to where her voice came from.

Forgetting she was wearing the cloak, Hermione blushed and muttered, “It’s okay.” She looked down at her feet as to not catch his eyes.

“Could you take off the cloak?” he asked with a hint of amusment in his tone.

Hermione blushed again, uselessly, before taking the cloak off and draping it over her arm, making it look like her hand was floating in space unattached from her body.

Remus made his way towards her, “That’s better.” Hermione’s face felt hot again. Remus looked at the tapestry next to her. “Where were you going to go?”

“The room of requirement,” she replied quickly. “I was going to ask for a nice place to stay… Preferably with information on the effects of mixed potions.

The look on Remus’ face was that of slight confusion. “You were going to ask…?”

“Don’t you know about the room of requirement?” She asked. When Remus shook his head, she started to explain. “On the seventh floor, there’s a blank wall across from a tapestry of trolls being taught ballet. If you walk past that wall three times, repeating what you need, a door will appear. It’s called the room of requirement because it will mold it’s shape and contents to the specific needs that you asked for.”

“That’s amazing,” he said in awe. “Can you show me? I mean, can I come with you or do you really want to be alone?”

Hermione answered without hesitation, “Let’s go.” She pushed away the tapestry and proceeded up the stairs.

Remus followed slightly behind her, not sure what he should say. It was rare that somebody knew more about Hogwarts than the Marauders. They had made the map, which she claims to have seen. Claims? Remus asked himself. Of course she’s seen it. There’s no other way she would know how to work it.

“We’re almost there,” Hermione called out behind her, breaking the silence and his thoughts. They turned down a corridor and about halfway down, she came to a stop. “Well…”

“Can I do it?” Remus asked, quickly.

Hermione nodded. “Just walk by three times, thinking about what you want the room to be. If you want to hide
something, say so. If you want a bathroom, just tell it. If you want a… it doesn’t matter what it is, just ask.”

Walking in front of the blank wall, Remus closed his eyes and stopped at the end of the tapestry, turning on the spot and walking back. He appeared to be concentrating very hard, opening his eyes only after his third pass by the wall. Gasping, he saw the door appear out of nowhere. Hermione couldn’t help an uncharacteristic giggle – she would’ve never imagined Remus with his current expression of awe. The Remus she knew was almost omnipresent, nothing was ever new to him.

“Shall we?” he asked, motioning to the door. He reached his hand out to her and she grasped it, following his lead.

Remus pushed the door open, his breath catching as he took in the view. Hermione bumped into him as he stood, shocked, in the doorway. The room of requirement had turned into the most amazing library Hermione had ever seen. The walls were lined with books, some of them looking older than any she had ever read or seen before.
There were soft suede couches every six feet, decorated with red and gold pillows.

Hermione coughed, trying to politely get Remus to move. Startled, he almost tripped over the soft shag rug, allowing her enough room to budge in. She closed the door behind her and when she turned around, he was staring
at her.

“This really is amazing,” he said, in awe. Remus took her hand and turned around to stand right beside her. “Look at this.”

Not only were there soft couches for comfortable reading space, but in the far right corner there was a large canopied bed. It was draped in soft looking lace and was half covered in throw pillows. Hermione’s breath caught in her throat. “It’s gorgeous,” she whispered. “What did you ask for?”

Remus turned to her, smiling. “I asked for what you had said you wanted…and a little more.”

“Oh?”

“I wanted you to be as comfortable as you could. If I was in the position you were, I’d be freaking out right now. You must be going crazy inside.”

Hermione returned his smile genuinely. “Organized chaos,” she said with a laugh. “But thank you.”

“No problem,” he replied, a hint of a blush spreading on his cheeks. “Wait until James and Sirius find out about this.”

Hermione’s smile faltered. “Can we not talk about them right now?”

“Oh, sorry,” Remus apologized. “Do you want me to go?”

“No! Please stay."
