Day 1
DAY 1
Dear Diary,
I think I might have kicked him in the middle of the night. I haven’t shared a bed with anyone since I used to crawl into my parents’ when I was a little girl. Dad used to end up on the sofa with bruises on his legs. I noticed him—Severus, that is (Merlin, it feels strange to write that)—limping the same way this morning.
It felt strange to wake up in an unfamiliar bed this morning. It would have been stranger yet to have woken up with Severus Snape next to me, but perhaps he had already anticipated that. Or maybe he’s just an early riser, though I wouldn’t have thought him a morning person. Either way, he was already awake and making breakfast downstairs.
Back in my clothes from yesterday, I came downstairs and took the toast and eggs he silently offered me. He then retreated behind the Prophet, and I retrieved one of the books I had bought at Flourish and Blotts. I’ve spent most of the day reading my book and now writing in you about last night and today. It’s not a bad way to spend the holidays, I suppose, though it wouldn’t make the best travel brochures.
HOLIDAY GETAWAY—BOOK NOW!
Location: Somewhere in northern England
Accommodations: Known Death Eater’s hideaway, 1 bed
Entertainment: Sit cauldron-side with your favorite book on walking corpses
Night Life: Seven nights of adult entertainment—virgins only.

Evening is coming now. There aren’t many lights here, and it’s getting too dark to read. I suppose it will be time for bed soon.
