Meeting The Good Doctor

Chapter Two: Meeting The Good Doctor

Gregory House was NOT a happy man. His attention was only breifly held by the woman yelling at him. After all, Lisa Cuddy yelled at him all the time.

"And now I want you to get down to the clinic and do some damn work!" Cuddy all but hissed at him. He idly wave a hand in her direction and made his way to the elevators where James Wilson waited with an indulgent grin.

"Making you do your clinic hours, huh? Ah well, couldn't put them off foreer," he teased his somewhat obnoxious friend. Ever since finding Torie, his life had gone uphill. She didn't try to change him and she didn't just tolerate House. She was always invinting him to the apartment and trying to set him up on dates. She didn't mind all the time they spent together. She had her own career and understood his. Not to mention that this time, they weren't moving at warp speed to get married. They had been dating for four months. Now, he wanted his friend to be.... well if not happy, at least content.

House rolled his eyes at Wilson. "Yes, damnit. You just had to tell her I was hiding in your office didn't you." Wilson grinned even wider and nodded. "A curse on your head then. I hope Torie denies you sex for the next week." There was no response other than loud laughter. It was good to know that his friend was happy now.

They arrived at the clinic and House turned to the nurse sitting behind the desk. "5 oh nine, Dr. House checks in. Write it down please." The nurse sighed and held out a file. "What's this?"

"A patient is in your usual exam room. This is his file. You may as well do something while your down here." She smirked at him. House grumbled as he limped toward Exam Room One. He swung open the door and loudly clattered in.

"Well, well, well. What's wrong with Junior today?" He snapped at the man sitting with a two-year-old boy in his lap and a two-year-old girl next to him. The man's coal black eyes glared at him as the girl started screaming.

"Settle down Nikki." The girl, just as suddenly as she started, stopped her wail. House almost shivered at the husky baritone voice. "I don't know what's wrong. He had a fever and now there is chills, vomiting and a rash."

"Huh. Sounds like Scarlet Fever. Let me see the rash." The man lifted the boy's shirt. House leaned over and noticed some Pastia's lines on the underarms. "He hasn't been feeling well? Has he been more tired than usual?" The man nodded. "Well, I was right. Scarlet fever. Let me write up a prescription. Keep giving it to him till all the symptoms fade." As he was writing, House inspected the man in front of him more closly. He wasn't the most handsome man in the world with that huge nose, but he was... regal looking. And the British accent was a nice touch. His inky black hair looked like if he didn't take care of it properly, then it would be greasy, but right now, it was almost like silk. "So, where is it that you work?"

Severus looked at the man in surprise and suspicion. "Princeton High School. Why?"

"You're going to have to be careful. It's very contagious." This man was interesting... it was like he had a secret. Well, House wasn't going to let this puzzle go. "I was wondering, would you like to have dinner this Friday?
