Everything Will Be Fine
Breakfast
Upon entering the Great Hall, Hermione looked around to see the reaction of the other students. She noticed students looking at them at all the tables. Even teachers had looked twice. She knew seeing the two of them together would be a shock, but she hoped once it wore off things would die down. All the students were pointing and whispering to each other. The Slytherins were picking their jaws up off the table. Eyes were narrowing and the looks she was getting were not friendly. She was almost afraid to look over at her friends.
Harry and Ginny were deep in a conversation and, from the looks of it, a very large stack of pancakes. They must have worked up quite an appetite last night also. Ron and Mandy were snogging, like that was anything new. Hermione wondered if he had actually gotten any last night. Ron was always striking out. Poor fool. He loved Mandy and she loved him, she just wasn’t a believer in sex before marriage, even if there was love. Hermione secretly hoped she would give in then maybe she wouldn’t have to listen to him complain.
Ron was busy nuzzling his girlfriends’ neck when he heard Harry choke on his pancakes. “What??” he asked, turning around to see what Harry was looking at. Walking into the Great Hall was Hermione with none other than Draco Malfoy!! And he had his arm around her waist!!
“What in bloody hell is she doing with him??”
“I think it’s about time,” commented Ginny. “What? Don’t give me that look. You would have to be completely blind not to see all the sexual frustration between them all these years. I mean come on. Do you really think he would have fought on our side if he really meant all those mudblood comments? I think he was just trying to get a rise out of her. Have you ever noticed how much they stare at each other? I think this was inevitable.”
“No way! Malfoy is just a slimy no-good cretin. Always has been and always will be. Besides she could do so much better,” snickered Ron.
“Do I detect a hint of jealousy Ron?” Harry teased. He knew that Ron used to have a crush on Hermione, but now was hopelessly in love with Mandy.
“You’d better not be jealous, not when you know you are mine.” Mandy yelled as she planted a very firm kiss on his lips.
“No, not jealous. You know I love you.” He winked at her reminding her of last night and making her blush. “It’s just; I’m worried about my friend is all. I never thought she would go for the incredible bouncing ferret.” Ron replied staring at the couple.
“You have to admit they look good together. Damn good!” Ginny replied. Looking at the two of them you would think they were made for each other; Draco with his silky, shimmery, white, blond hair a complete opposite from her rich, wavy, brown locks; His height and thin build against her average height and frame; His silvery, grey eyes and her deep, brown ones. Polar opposites yet their differences seemed to play off each other. They were the perfect complements.
“Hey! No day dreaming about Malfoy! You’re mine, remember?” Harry chided. He grabbed the red head and kissed her passionately making her forget all about Malfoy’s silky, smooth, white, blond hair and silvery, grey eyes.
Hermione could only speculate as to the “other conversation, “she was too far away to hear, but judging from the look on Ron’s face, it wasn’t good. She followed Draco towards the Slytherin table, but then changed her mind. “I’m going to go talk to my friends. I’ll meet you outside when I’m done.” She kissed him on the cheek and headed over to the Gryffindor table.
“Good morning, everyone,” she said as she sat across from her stunned friends. “I know…”
“What in bloody hell are you doing with Malfoy?” Ron blurted out. “OW!” he cried as Ginny and Mandy both slapped him on the back of the head. “I-I-I mean, Good Morning, Hermione!”
“Good morning, Hermione,” said Harry. “Anything interesting happen last night after Ginny and I left the ball?” he winked at Ginny. She blushed, remembering exactly what had happened in the Room of Requirement. “Anything at all? Anything regarding a certain Slytherin?”
“Yeah, Hermione. Spill it.” Ginny demanded.
“Alright. Ok. I give. Yes, Draco and I hooked up last night OK? It just kind of happened. We were both alone and feeling a little down. I’d had a little much to drink, and yes we are now a couple, I think. We both realized there is some sort of attraction between us and we are going to try to figure it out, ok?”
“Hermione. Really. It’s ok. We don’t care. It’s nice you found someone. We’ve been wondering when that would happen. What with all of us paired up, we’ve been worried. And if Draco is who you want, then all I can say is the git better not do anything to hurt you because if he does he will find himself back as a ferret PERMENANTLY!!!” Harry replied.
“Really? You guys are ok with me and him?” Hermione said, picking her jaw up off the table. “You aren’t upset? You don’t want to kill him?”
“Really. We just want you to be happy. Like us,” Ron admitted, glaring at Draco across the room. He slid his arm around Mandy’s shoulders.
“Oh, what would I do without you guys?” Hermione hugged them across the table. “I’m gonna go tell Malfoy you guys are ok. Ok? Bye!” Hermione got up and ran to tell Draco. “Guess what? They’re all ok with us. It was like no big deal.”
“I told you everything would be fine. Didn’t I?” Draco replied.
“Oh yeah I forgot you’re always right. Riiiight? “she snickered.
He bent down and kissed the top of her head. Neither of them noticed the glare from a group of people at the other end of the table.
