First Meetings...Again

The trip to Hogwarts went by quickly for Draco, so quick in fact, that he didn’t notice his carriage arrive at the front gates. Only when it stopped moving did he look up. Instantly he noticed the first wizard as Albus Dumbledore, but next to him was a girl he did not recognize who seemed to be transfixed on her shoes.

As Draco began to approach the couple he got a better look at the witch.

‘Whoever she is, she’s hot,’ Draco thought admiring her body.

“Hello Mr. Malfoy,” Dumbledore said.

“Hello Professor,” replied Draco.

Finally the girl looked up. Draco searched her face for any sign that might give him a hint as to who she is. As he reached her eyes, he recognized her immediately.

“Granger,” Draco gasped.

“Hello Malfoy,” Hermione said with her voice full of bitterness.

The two glared at each other until Dumbledore stepped in.

“Miss Granger, Mr. Malfoy, you two do know that the two heads must promote house relationships,” Dumbledore
sighed. “You will stop all this nonsense at once or you’re titles shall be revoked.”

Albus knew this was a little harsh, but he wanted to make sure Hermione and Draco understood how serious he was about this.

“But professor…” Hermione started.

“No but’s Miss Granger. You two will be an example for the incoming first years and the rest of the school. Now Mr. Malfoy, I have already explained this to Miss Granger but I shall explain it again as to why you are here two weeks before the start of school. Usually, both heads arrive one week before the others, but in yours and Miss Granger’s case I believed you two will need an additional week to get to know each other.”

“What do you mean Professor?” Draco asked very confused.

“Typically, both heads are some what civil towards one another but you two on the other hand, are not. Therefore, you two will start some type of civil relationship and you have one week to do this.” Ablus answered with a twinkle in his eye. “Now if you will excuse me, I have a meeting with a fellow colleague. Miss Granger, I trust you will show Mr. Malfoy to his room.”

“Yes Professor.”

“Good. Now I must be off.” With that said, Dumbledore left.

“Well Granger, it looks like it’s just you and me.” Draco said.

“It sure looks that way Malfoy.” Hermione said and began to walk away. “Follow me and I’ll show you to our rooms.”

‘This is going to one hell of a week,’ Hermione thought.

On the way to their rooms Draco began to remember the prophecy. He already knew that some how he and Granger will become friends, now all he needed to do was figure out how.

‘I need her to be my friend so I can be free from my father,’ Draco contemplated. ‘Maybe I should start things off.’

“So, um, Granger, how was your summer?” Draco asked.

Hermione stopped walking and turned around to face him. She searched his face to see what he was up to. After finding nothing, Hermione still did not believe that Draco Malfoy would ever be interested in her summer.

“Listen Malfoy, I know that Dumbledore said we have to be civil towards each other, but him saying that is not going to make me forget six years of being called a mudblood,” said Hermione. “Here are our rooms. The password is dormien. Your room is to the left.”

“Look Granger, I’ve worked hard for this title. If Dumbledore says I have to be civil towards you, then I will. I will not let some mu…” Draco was able to stop before he uttered the rest of the word, but it didn’t go unnoticed by Hermione.

“Some what Malfoy? Some mudblood. I’ve worked hard for this position too, but something are more important.”

“Like what?” Draco yelled at Hermione.

He almost had her with that question. What could more important than the prestigious title of Head Girl? She had worked her ass of for the past six years making sure to stay out of trouble and get the best grades. This title would ensure her acceptance to the top universities. But she only needed was one reason and she would give it all up in a heart beat.

“My friends Malfoy, my family,” she said before storming off.

In frustration, Malfoy open the door and slammed it shut. One question kept running through his head. How in the world is she supposed to help him?
