****************************

Severus Snape was in a very delicate postion; one that he knew he needed to speak to Headmaster Dumbledore about. After he had forced Hermione to swallow several vials of healing potions, he had sent her to the Great Hall for dinner and had told her to not return until she had eaten a good meal. He paced in front of his fireplace for several minutes before calling Albus over the floo. "Albus, I need to..." He wasn't even finished with his sentence before Albus popped through the fireplace, outrageously dressed in bright purple and orange robes.

"What can I do for you, Severus my boy?" Albus asked as he sat down on the nearest chair. Severus pinched the bridge of his nose, because he knew it was going to be a very intersting conversation.

"I.....we have a problem that we need to address," Severus began as he went to get a decanter of his finest firewhisky and several glasses. The twinkle in Albus' eyes seemed to fade somewhat as he made himself more comfortable in the chair and took the proffered glass of whiskey.

"What seems to be the problem?" Albus asked quietly, swirling the whiskey in the glass, but not partaking of it yet. Severus knocked back his whiskey in one smooth drink and took a deep breath before telling Albus EVERYTHING. Everything involving Hermione as of late; the withdrawel in class, the melting of the cauldron....the cuts on her arms...and lastly, how he cared for the girl.

Albus mostly listened, his eyes growing bleaker and bleaker until Severus admitted for having feelings for Hermione. "We need to talk to

her of course, and set up a counselor from St. Mungo's to come in to see her. I've heard of this before, but honestly, I have never dealt with it for someone so young and exceptional as Ms. Granger. I will also like to speak to Minerva and Poppy, to alert them of this. We need to help in any way that we can," Albus stated, still swirling the whiskey in the glass.

Severus waited for Albus to forbid him to see Hermione outside of the classroom; to nip the potentional growth of a relationship between himself and a girl young enough to be his daughter before it could progress. He was outright shocked to see Albus stand up, drink his whiskey and set the glass down, then start walking to the floo with no mention of it.

"Albus," Severus said, causing the old wizard to pause and turn to look at him. The twinkle was back in his eyes, full force.

"In regard to Ms. Granger, I do beleive discretion is in order. She doesn't graduate for a few more months, and it may cause some speculations on her high potions grade if a relationship was to occur. We both know that she has been very diligent in her work, and it wouldn't do to have anyone doubt her abilities." Albus turned to leave again.

"So you are saying....that if a relationship were to occur...it wouldn't cause any problems?" Severus ventured out. His heart was thumping wildly in his chest. Granted, he cared for the young witch, and he did have reservations since she was so young, but right now he was more focused on helping her. "I want to point out that my main concern is for her well-being at the moment; I want to make sure she is okay before anything else transpires," he added hastely.

"Severus, I do not doubt for an instant that her well-being is your main concern at the moment," Albus called over his shoulder while stepping into the floo. "I am just happy to see that you are listening to your heart. You haven't done so in a very long time," his voice carried over from the floo.

Severus pinched the bridge of his nose again and poured another glass of firewhiskey. "Meddlesome old coot," he muttered drinking the whiskey quickly before sitting down before the fireplace. Severus sighed and put his hands over his face, his mind racing with all the thoughts going through his head. Yes, he cared for Hermione, but he didn't want that to cloud his judgement at the moment. She needed counseling, and will probably be outraged at the prospect of having to see a counselor. People dealt with grief in very different ways, and her way seemed to be blaming herself for the death of her parents.

A soft knock at his chamber door stirred Severus out of his contemplations. He went and opened the door. "Hermione...please...come and sit down. We need to talk."
