Screwed

“You incompetent…” was Snape’s voice echoed throughout the dungeon’s bitter halls.

Poor Neville, covered in his fifth batch of green goo, kept his head down to avoid the greasy-haired man’s glares as Severus continued.

“Why did I bother? I knew you were still hopeless,” Snape ranted “Well, nothing to say? Not surprising, go clean yourself up you are done here.”

Snape waved the boy off without another word as he turned to the goo-covered station, and silently banished it clean. Just as Severus was about to leave to his private chambers, for some soothing jazz and a glass of fire whiskey, he turned to see the bothersome being that was Neville Longbottom just few feet from him.

“I said you were done, Mr. Longbottom,” Snape growled barely hiding his annoyance.

“I-I know sir, but when would our next session be?” Neville asked in a defeated tone.

Severus didn’t know whether to stared in disbelief or laughed in Neville’s face. Well Snape hardly smiled, so laughing was out the question. The look on Severus’s face was indescribable as Neville shifted under his professor’s gaze. Longbottom must be daft, after tonight little demonstration, it would be a crime against humanity to let him near another cauldron, Snape thought. Realizing the boy was still waiting his response.

Severus answered with a voice laced of venom, “ Mr. Longbottom, I rather deal with rampaging hippogriff than repeat another of how you said it… our sessions.”

After processing the verbal jab, Neville gave Snape a quick nod of understanding and ran out on the classroom and headed straight towards the tower. Severus stared at his open door, mumbled something about overreacting Gryffindor and turned to leave for his chambers.

Afterward, Neville was just reaching the Fat Lady’s portrait. Muttering the password, the Fat lady glanced the boy over but instead of asking she allowed him entrance. It was still rather early, so upon entering the common room a distraught Neville was seen by both the boy who lived and his red haired chum. Harry and Ron were in the midst of a game of wizard chess before the door opened revealing Longbottom dragging himself inside.

“Uh...Neville was it that bad?” Harry inquired as Ron turned to also welcome his friend.

Neville slowly lifted his head to meet his puffy red eyes to his roommates, and the answer instantly became clear to them. Harry and Ron watched as Longbottom crept up the stairs to his room. Both boys turned to one another and dropped what they were doing to consult their friend. But when they reached Neville, they found him beginning to write a letter.

“Mate,” Ron spoke up while trying to glance at the letter, “ who ya’ writing too? Your Gran?”

“No,” Neville quickly stated

“Then who?” Harry pressed

“ Someone you don’t know,” Neville said a little irritated by Ron peeking at his parchment, “ No worries guys…really, I’m fine just need sometime alone is all.”

Harry and Ron shared a worried look before deciding to give the boy sometime alone. They wished him a Good night and headed back down stairs.

Back in California it was an early cool morning and Cid and the others were doing some early bird surfing before school.

“Cid, what are you staring at !?” Bebe hollered from the shore watching the boy stare absently at the glowing horizon. Ty and Luke paddled over to Cid to see what was the problem. All three stared at the flapping object coming towards them.

“What the Hell!” Ty shrieked as he dove into the water for protection. Cid squinted as Luke leaned closer for a better look.

“Is that…” Luke muttered

“An owl?” Cid followed up

And before they knew it, there it stood; a little owl on the nose of Cid’s broad. The little thing hooted which made the boys jump. The owl hooted again, but also tried to lift its leg where Neville’s letter laid attached. Cid noticed the daggle piece of paper, and carefully removed it. As the little owl hooted once more, Ty resurfaced.

“Was that…” Ty looked on as the owl flew away

“An owl,” both Luke and Cid said in unison as they looked over the letter

“Who’s it from Cid?” Luke asked

“Neville…” Cid answered slightly amazed

“Well quit drooling over it, and tell us what it says,” Ty meddled in as he got back on his broad to only get pushed back off by Luke.

Later when they got to shore, Cid read over the letter to the group. It basically was about how Neville missed everyone, and he wished he could see how the gang was coming around. He further wrote about his time in Hogwarts and how one of his teachers was giving him a hard time. But it was mostly about Neville wishing they could see each other over Christmas break. When Cid finished Bebe jumped up surprising everyone.

“ I know lets visit Neville over Christmas break, YEAH!” the hyper girl shouted

“Where?” Ty asked her

“Where Neville lives, stupid,” Bebe stated with confidence “It would be pure awesomeness to Neville again.”

Ty just looked questionably at the girl for a second before Luke stepped in. “Bebe, Neville lives in England, not only the he lives in the W-I-Z-A-R-D world, remember?” Luke sounded it out for her.

Bebe just blinked for a bit muttered an ‘oh’ before seating back down on the sand. A long silence pasted between the crew before Cid realized something.

“How are we to send a reply to this?”
