When Worlds Collide

Summery: Hermione is being targeted by an evil that hasn’t set foot on earth in over a thousand years. Now, she must be protected. What happens when she and her protector fall in love? R/R

Chapter 2

Hermione had just finished stirring her potion, when she stood up and headed for the ingredients cabinet for the next set of ingredients. As she was in the cabinet, she felt a disturbance in the Force.

‘Oh god no! It can’t be!’ her mind screamed.

She spun around and ran back into the classroom. The others turned and faced her. Before they could speak, the classroom door was slammed open. Standing in the doorway, was a man wearing black robes, and what looked like a uniform similar to that of a Jedi Knight.

“What the bloody hell is that?” Ron demanded.

“Get behind me! Get behind me!” Hermione cried as she withdrew her lighsaber.

Draco, Harry, Ron and Severus quickly got behind her. The man withdrew his own light saber and began laughing an evil laugh.

“So, you think you can fight me? You’re no Jedi, girl.” the man laughed.

“I’ll fight to protect those I love.” Hermione shot back.

The two lunged at each other. As they began fighting, Severus moved the other three as far away as he could. As he watched her, he made a startling revelation.

‘Sweet Circe! She’s a descendant of a JedI!’ He thought.

Meanwhile, Anakin had just entered Albus’s office. Albus rose from his chair as Anakin bowed slightly. Albus gestured for Anakin to be seated. The young JedI gracefully sat in one of the chairs.

“Welcome Master Skywalker. It’s been sometime since I’ve last been in the presence of a Jedi Master. The last one I saw was Master Yoda I believe.” Albus greeted.

“Yes, Master Yoda sends his greetings. He said you were a teenager when you last saw each other.” Anakin said.

“That’s correct. Now, what exactly is your mission? All Master Kenobi told me was that one of my students is in danger from a Sith.” Albus asked.

“That’s right. The student is named Hermione Granger. She is the last in a strong Jedi line. If she were to become a JedI, she would stronger than Master Yoda. The Sith we are after will try to either turn her or kill her. The council feels he will more than likely kill her. I was sent to protect her. This Sith, tried to turn me a few years back. It’s because of my experience fighting against him, that the council felt I was better qualified.” Anakin explained.

“This is disturbing. Am I correct in assuming that this Sith has joined forces with Voldemort?” Albus questioned.

“Yes. This has also…” Anakin answered, then fell silent.

“What is it?” Albus asked.

“A Sith. Here.” Anakin replied.

Anakin and Albus jumped to their feet and ran towards the dungeons. As they rushed towards the potions classroom, Hermione was doing her best to fight off the Sith on her own.

“Give it up.” The Sith hissed.

“Never.” Hermione growled.

Hermione and the Sith flipped and danced around the room, their light sabers slicing through desks and shelves. Severus doing his best to keep himself and the boys out of the way.

“Hermione! Look out!” Ron cried as Hermione flipped over a desk.

Ugh!” Hermione groaned.

She had just landed on her feet and spun around when Ron called out to her. The Sith kicked her hard in the stomach. She went flying right into Severus’s desk. Her light saber, went clattering across the floor.

“Time to die, spawn of a Jedi.” the Sith hissed.

Hermione turned her face away and waited for the blow. It never came. She slowly looked up just as the upper body of the Sith fell to the floor at her feet.

“You all right?” Anakin asked as he put away his own light saber.

“Yeah. Thanks.” Hermione answered as she took in Anakin’s appearance.

Anakin extended his hand and helped her to her feet. Hermione instantly saw the black Jedi uniform. She also felt how strongly the Force was with him, and finally she noticed how handsome he was.

“Harry. You Draco, and Ron return to Gryffindor Tower. Hermione, Severus, please come with me.” Albus instructed.

The three boys waved good-bye to Hermione as they exited the classroom. Albus then led Anakin, Hermione, and Severus back upstairs to his office. Once there, Anakin explained once more about his mission.

“So, this Sith, Darth Sideious, wants me dead and has joined forces with Voldemort?” Hermione asked.

“That’s correct milady. The council seems worried about Palpatine, or Darth Sideious, joining with Voldemort. That just gives him more choices from which to choose an apprentice.” Anakin answered.

“Can you protect Hermione, Master Skywalker? She is a dear friend to many of us, and we would be heartbroken if something were to happen to her.” Severus questioned.

“You have my oath as a Jedi; I will protect Hermione with my life.” Anakin swore.

Severus nodded. The oath of a Master JedI was good enough for him. Hermione let out a heavy sigh, stood up and walked over to one of the windows.

“tell me Master Skywalker, how much is your being here going to disrupt my life?” Hermione asked.

“You remind me of a friend in the Senate. My presence will not disturb your day-to-day dealing milady. I will be virtually invisible, I assure you.” Anakin replied with a chuckle.

“Very well. Where will he be staying Headmaster?” She replied.

“In the morning I will add a second set of room to yours. For tonight, he can sleep on a transfigured bed in your sitting room.” Albus answered.

“All right. I guess we should turn in. I’m pretty tired.” Hermione said.

“Do you need anything for Pain?” Severus asked.

“No thank you Professor. I’ll go to Poppy should I need anything.” Hermione answered with a gentle smile.

Anakin bowed to Albus and Severus, then followed Hermione out of the office. Once the door closed and he was sure they were gone, Severus began to speak.

“Albus, are you sure it’s wise allowing them to share a suite?” Severus asked.

“What do you mean Severus?” Albus replied.

“Albus, surely you’ve noticed that Hermione is no longer a little girl. She is now a beautiful young woman. Even though Anakin is a JedI, he’s still a young man. There’s still a very real chance that something could develop between them.” Severus answered.

“Hermione wouldn’t do that. She knows the rules. As does Anakin.” Albus insisted.

“You can’t always stop your heart. It’s an awfully big temptation by putting them together.” Severus said.

“I think you are worrying too much about this Severus. Why don’t you go get some rest.” Albus replied gently.

Severus sighed. He knew he couldn’t convince Albus. He would have to watch them on his own. He got to his feet and left the office. Ten minutes later, he plopped down heavily in one of his arm chairs in front of the fireplace.

“I hope Hermione remembers the rules of a JedI.” He sighed.

Meanwhile, Hermione had just finished giving Anakin a tour of the rooms. Anakin seemed quite impressed with her rooms. He watched in awe as she effortlessly used wandless magic to transfigure her sofa into a King size bed for him.

“The Headmaster should have your rooms added by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. In the mean time, this will have to do for the night.” Hermione said apologetically.

“I’m sure it will be fine milady.” Anakin replied.

“You don’t have to call me ‘milady.’ Hermione will do.” She chuckled.

“Very well. What do you know of the Sith and the JedI?” He asked.

“Well, my father told me what he had been told by my grandfather. Which isn’t much I’m afraid. The JedI skills I know, but not the history and such.” She explained sadly as they sat on the edge of the bed.

“Perhaps during my stay, I can teach you the JedI history.” He offered.

“I would love that Anakin! Thank you!” She smiled.

Twenty minutes later, Hermione bid Anakin good night and entered her bedroom. As she began to get undressed, her thoughts kept circling around the handsome, young JedI Master currently staying in her sitting room.

‘Why do I feel so connected to him? Sure he’s cute, but so what? Perhaps it’s because I’m itching to learn all I can about the JedI and now I find myself face-to-face with a JedI Master none the less! Yes, that’s it.’ She thought.

Hermione slipped on her sky blue negligee, climbed into her bed, took the book from her nightstand, and began to read. Pushing all thoughts of Anakin and the Sith from her mind for the time being.
