Summary: Hermione is due to start her seventh year at
Hogwarts. However, she has a little surprise for Harry and Ron, one that will
test their friendship.

Chapter 3: A Serious Talk

            Both
Hermione and Severus joined the rest of the staff for dinner. Hermione spent
most of it chatting with Professor McGonagall, asking her a little of what she
would be teaching during the term. Dumbledore tried to engage in conversation
with Severus, but he tuned him out. He really wanted dinner over with so that
he could spend time with Hermione. Finally Hermione got up and left the hall
and ten minutes later Severus left as well.

            No sooner had
Severus left, but Dumbledore got up. McGonagall had a feeling that he was
trying to stop whatever Severus and Hermione had planned. She shook her head.
She knew they were going to hate him when he confronted them. She turned to
look at Remus, who shook his head.

            Meanwhile
Severus had found Hermione. She had been waiting on him down at his office. She
wrapped her arms around him and started to kiss him. He returned it and they
both moaned as their desire fired up.

   “Let’s take this in
my room,” he muttered.

Hermione moaned.

   “Yes, let’s take
it,” Hermione said.

   “I don’t think so,”
Dumbledore said coldly.

Both Hermione and Severus broke off.

   “Headmaster,”
Severus said.

He gave them a dark look.

   “You know the
rules,” he told them. “No relations while you teach here.”

   “But, it’s not the
term yet?” Hermione protested.

Dumbledore shook his head.

   “Break it up and
get back to your room,” Dumbledore demanded.

Hermione muttered darkly as she walked away.

   “Why did you do
that?” Severus hissed.

Dumbledore gave him a strange look.

   “I’m just doing what
the board wants me to,” Dumbledore explained. “This means no dirty stuff.”

   “D-Dirty stuff,”
Severus muttered. “Look here, Albus, I’m married to her and this isn’t the
Start-of-term yet. So I don’t-.”

Dumbledore held his hands up.

   “I know, Severus,
but I’m not going to lose my job because of what you and your wife want. She
has already gotten separate quarters and as soon as her final year is over,
then you’re more then happy to spend all the time with her.”

Severus hissed at him and walked away. Five more months,
Severus thought. Five more months.
