Chapter 3: Sometimes They Do Come Back
When Katie
returned to the Headmistress office she at once reported what she had seen.
However, McGonagall wasn’t fazed by what Katie had said, which shocked her.
Where had the fair-minded Professor gone?
“Miss Bell, I don’t
think that we should worry too much about Snape,” she said, smiling at her. “He’s
a Death Eater, a murderer, and a rapist. He’s only here to help us bring down
You-know-who and then he’s going to burn for what he’s done.”
Katie stared at her, but then she collected her thoughts.
“Professor, my job
as a medi-witch is to help the sick,” she explained. “I took an oath to do no
harm and I will continue to do just that, no harm. I’m going to find out why
Mr. Snape is suffering and then find a way to cure him.”
The Professor thought about this. If Snape was well, then he
would continue to be of use. Umm, that didn’t sound like a bad idea.
“Very well, Miss
Bell, do your job,” she said. “And bring him to my office as soon as he’s well.”
“Of course,” Katie
said, not sensing that McGonagall was doing this for her own means.
She turned and left the office.

“So how is Snape
fairing?” Ginny asked Hermione.
“Don’t know, don’t
care,” Hermione snapped. “Moody took him to the wing and were going to drain
him of his very last bit of information before he burns. Of course, that’s
after I get his money.”
Ginny stared at her.
“Hermione, that’s a
bad thing to say,” she said. “I know that he murdered Dumbledore, but to just
use him like that is wrong.”
Hermione glared at her.
“And whose side are
you on?” Hermione said hotly. “I’m going to be having his bastard child and you
care about how I’m using him.”
“Hermione, I know
how you feel, but using him is just plain wrong.”
“NO YOU DON’T!”
Hermione screamed.
And she stormed out.

“So how is our dear
Severus fairing?” Voldemort asked Wormtail.
“Not well,” he
said, grinning. “Everyone thinks that Severus did what he did out of his own
free will.”
“Perfect,” he said excitedly.
“Soon he’ll die and with his death will come the end to all he knows. Now I
think I’m off to have some fun. I think a little trip to the Grangers is in
order.”
And he got up and disappeared.

Katie had
locked herself up in Madam Pomfrey’s office, hoping that her books would
contain some kind of answer. However, they contained nothing. Katie sighed,
trying to figure out what she was going to do next. Suddenly she heard Severus
screaming again and ran to his aid. She put a cold compress on his head and
checked him over again.
“Please no, not
again,” he moaned.
“Severus, please
wake up,” Katie demanded. “Please wake up.”
Severus eyes snapped open and he grabbed her.
“The Grangers are
in danger!” he hissed. “Voldemort is going to kill them!”
And he passed out.
Katie
hurried out of the wing and headed for the Headmistress office, hoping that
McGonagall would be there. Saying the password, she entered and raced up the
stairs.
“Voldemort is going
to kill the Grangers,” she blurted out.
McGonagall stared at her.
“What are you
talking about?” McGonagall asked.
“Severus told me
that Voldemort is going to kill the Grangers.”
McGonagall gave her a look and then burst out laughing.
“And what’s so
funny?”
“Severus will say
anything to get you on his side,” McGonagall said, after she had finished
laughing. “Just ignore it dear.”
“But, but,” Katie
said.
“Is that all?” she
asked.
“Um…yes,” Katie
said.
“Well then go on
dear,” McGonagall said.
Katie turned and left.
The next
morning the Daily Prophet reported that the home of Hermione Granger had been
attacked and her parents had been murdered. Katie felt a rush of anger when she
read it. Severus had been right about Hermione’s parents being attacked and no
one was there to help them. She decided that she was going to write down
whatever Severus said anything.

Alister
Moody called a meeting of the Order of the
which included Katie. Alister was talking about the attack on the Grangers and
also reporting in on how Hermione was taking the news.
“What I don’t
understand is why the Death Eaters attacked them,” Remus said.
“Well their getting
sick, I can tell you,” Minerva said, she gave Katie a look that told her not to
say anything.
Katie didn’t listen.
“Alister, Severus
told me that Voldemort was going to kill the Grangers. I told Minerva and she
brushed me off.”
They all stared at her and then at McGonagall.
“And why didn’t you
tell us this?” Remus asked.
McGonagall didn’t answer.
“I can tell you
why,” said an all too familiar voice. “She wants my friend to suffer.”
They turned to see the ghost of Albus Dumbledore entering
the room.
