The summer part 2

The Summer, Part 2

“Stop it,” Harry muttered as the rattling continued and his cuts ached. “Leave me alone...” but no one heard the silent pleas for the beating in his dream to stop.

Harry sat bolt upright and yelled “Stop!” before opening his eyes to see a car hovering outside his window. He rubbed his eyes in bewilderment, until he saw Ron Weasley.

“Ron?”

“Yea, Harry, it's me. Alright mate?”

“Yea, definitely now,” said Harry rubbing his eyes.

“We've come to get you out, mate!”

“How are you gonna manage that? You're not allowed to do magic.”

“Easy there, Harry.... We know what we're doing... all we have to do is pull the bars off... you might want to stand back,” said Fred and George between themselves, each finishing the other’s sentences like normal.

The twins attached a hook to the bars and pulled with the car. Harry could hear the bars groaning and creaking as they came free and was relieved when there was only a loud snort from down the corridor.

“Alright, Harry...where's your stuff?” asked Fred and George as they entered his room.

“The cupboard under the stairs. Careful of the bottom step, it squeaks.”

The twins pulled out some lock picks. “You know most wizards... don't bother learning how... to do this the Muggle way... but it's dead useful, right George? Yup Fred.” they both said back and forth like a fast paced tennis match, and finally the door opened. They both rushed down the stairs whilst Harry pulled stuff from under the loose floorboards.

“Wand, photo album, cloak, the twins are getting...er…have gotten my trunk. So what am I missing?” thought Harry. “Hedwig!” he yelled before rushing and grabbing the cage as his walrus of an uncle barged in.

It was a close call but despite Vernon grabbing Harry in a mad dash to stop him escaping, the plan went well... That was until they got to the Burrow.

**

When the flying car arrived at the Burrow the twins had expected their mother to still be in bed. The Weasley matriarch could be scary when she wanted to be, and when the four of them arrived at the Burrow she was fuming. No note, beds empty, car gone and the clock on traveling for hours.

Outside Harry and the Weasley boys were still in the car talking.

“It's not much,” said Ron.

“It's brilliant,” said Harry happily, as he looked out at the Weasley’s home.

Mrs. Weasley smiled at the clock. Her boys were home and ready for a good telling off and some chores.

Back outside, the boys all barreled out of the car.

“Now we'll just go upstairs really quietly,” said Fred “and wait for Mum to call us for breakfast. Then Ron, you come bounding downstairs going, “Mum, look who turned up in the night!” She'll be all pleased to see Harry and no one need ever know that we flew the car.”

“Right,” said Ron. “Come on, Harry, I'll show you where I sleep at the-”

Ron turned green as his eyes fixed on the house. The others turned around fast. Mrs. Weasley, despite being a plump, kindly woman, looked more like a saber-tooth tiger.

“Ah…” said Fred

“Oh dear,” said George.

Mrs. Weasley stopped in front of them with her hands on hips. She was wearing a flowered apron with a wand sticking out of the pocket.

“So,” she said

“Morning Mum!” said George in a jaunty winning voice, or at least what he must have thought was one.

“Have you any idea how worried I've been?” whispered Mrs. Weasley in a deadly tone.

“Sorry, Mum, but see, we had to-”

The three Weasleys, despite being taller than their mother, were cowering.

“Beds empty! No note! Car gone... could have crashed... out of my mind with worry... did you care? Never, as long as I've lived... you wait until your father gets home, we never had trouble like this from Bill, Charlie or Percy….”

“Perfect Percy,” muttered Fred.

“YOU COULD DO WITH TAKING A LEAF OUT OF PERCY'S BOOK!” yelled Mrs. Weasley, prodding Fred's chest. “You could have died, you could have been seen, you could have lost your father his job-”

It went on until Mrs. Weasley had yelled herself hoarse, then she turned on Harry who backed away.

“I'm very pleased to see you Harry, dear,” she said in a much calmer voice. “Come in and have some breakfast.”

They walked in and from then on the day at the Weasleys was pretty normal. The twins and Ron were made to do the degnoming with which Harry helped. Arthur was told about the flying car incident and he was excited about it, before his wife glared at him. Ginny put her elbow in the dish and eventually the school letters arrived, but it was that night that Harry found out about his best friend’s and the Weasley's true loyalties and friendships...
