A/N ... still no word from rowling so the characters are still not mine.
Draco Malfoy woke to a pained moan somewhere to his left. Slowly opening his eyes, sure that it was Severus finally tired of sleeping on the couch. He gasped when he saw who was really there, almost toppling off the bed as he scrambled backwards.
“Draco calm down” came the soothing voice of his godfather from across the room.
“I just woke up to next to my former nemesis, Harry Potter, forgotten savior of the wizarding world and all you tell me is calm down” Draco sneered toward his godfather who proceeded to glare back. “Well you could at least have warned me.”
“Draco if you take a second I might just explain to you…” Severus was interrupted mid sentence as a pained gasp sounded from Harry.
Harry had woke as he always did, with a jolt. A voice stopped mid sentence and he tried to orient and recognize his surroundings. Sleep blurred objects focused in much the same way as when he had needed his glasses. A dark shape focused in to a glaring potions master and a lighter blob, still half under the blankets on the bed, materialized into a sneering Draco Malfoy. Thoughts flared through Harry’s mind as he tried to remember the night before. Obviously his memory was failing him because he only remembered going to bed and putting his shields up.
“Relax Potter”, Severus said in the same calming voice he used on Draco, “ no one here will hurt you. I found you in the great hall last night, distraught, and thought it better to have you in my sights in case of further problems. Draco was also under my supervision at the time.” Finishing with a warning glare at Draco.
Despite this Harry still looked like he was facing his death, “Thank you Sir. Sorry to inconvenience you but I should be going.” With each quiet word the boy slowly inched himself off the bed and towards the door. Before Severus had a chance to react Harry had covered the last of the distance and had sprinted out the door and down the hall.

First years and seventh years alike scrambled out of the dark saviors way has he ran through the halls. They had all tried as hard as they could not to notice him at other times and this blatant display of his person had the halls humming with gossip.
The slight boy tried not to notice but a small persistent voice in his head was determined to take advantage of the situation.
“Their afraid of you, you know.” The voice hissed out in parsel tongue. “ You helped me kill their friends and families.”
“No, No I didn’t, I killed you” Harry hissed back, shaking his head as if trying to clear it of the bad voices.
“O but if you had killed me sooner, confronted me like a true hero, think of the people that would have lived.”
“I couldn’t, I wasn’t strong enough,” His voice raising a bit as he started to panic.
“ But they still blame you, they say its your fault, or is it theirs. They forced you into that position. They could have killed me, could have fought with me but instead they forced you into the spot light. Good friends that they were, they didn’t want to take the fall with you. They wanted you to die.”
That struck a cord. He was so alone, they had left him… everyone had left him. Why hadn’t they helped, why hadn’t they come to get him sooner. It had hurt so much.
A second year girl coming down the hall froze when she saw the tainted hero kneeling, eyes glowing a slight red, hissing to him self. Harry noticed her a split second latter. Noticed her fear, noticed her terror, and all of it reminded him of why he had fought so hard to save these people. Because before there had been another man who would have killed this pathetic child for that look where he just ran away.
