Clue 2

Clue 2.

Harry held his breath as he reached the bottom of the stairs and quickly made his way to the hourglasses. He smiled as he saw the little note stuck behind one of them. He quickly plucked it out of its place and barely noticed that it had been strategically placed behind the Slytherin counter.
As Harry was about to open the note he felt a tingling on the back of his neck. Spinning around Harry glanced around him but there wasn’t anyone there. But that was impossible. He could swear that he felt someone watching him. Shrugging Harry made his way out to the lake.
The sun was just over the horizon when Harry reached his favourite thinking rock. He had spent hours there when he wanted to be alone. He looked over the lake as he twirled his next clue in his fingers. Who was it that was sending him these notes? Where were they taking him? What would his friends say if they knew? All these questions ran through his head and none of them had an answer.
Sighing Harry looked at his watch and noticed that it was time for breakfast. Standing up he realised that he hadn’t looked at his next clue yet.
“After breakfast.” Harry said to himself.

Harry was getting frustrated. He hadn’t been given the chance to open his next clue and it was already time for lunch. Ron and Hermione had been around him all morning. First Ron had wanted to go flying then Hermione had insisted that they need to do homework. So needless to say Harry hadn’t had a moment to himself.
“I was thinking that after lunch we could go and get started on Charms.” Hermione said as they sat down to eat.

“Yeah sure.” Ron mumbled before piling food on his plate.

“Actually I finished my charms essay a few days ago.” Harry said silently cheering at his luck. Now he would be able to check out his clue and have time to think about it.

“Oh.” Was all Hermione said obviously surprised that Harry had already done it. Smiling Harry started eating and almost as soon as the last bite was in his mouth he ran out of the hall to find a quiet place to think.

Skidding to a halt in the entrance hall Harry peered around trying to think of a place that would be empty. Since it was a Saturday he couldn’t go outside since everyone would be there. The library was out as that’s where his friends were going. There was bound to be people in the common rooms so where was he going to go?
“Alright let’s think about this logically.” Harry said to himself.

“Talking to yourself Potter. Not a good sign.” A voice drawled. Harry stiffened at the sound before slowly turning around.

“What do you want Malfoy?” Harry asked.

“What would make you think that you have anything I could possibly want?” The Slytherin smirked.

“I don’t know the fact that you seem to go out of your way to taunt me.” Harry smirked.

“Oh please Potter. Get a grip on your ego.” Draco drawled.

“Sorry but I don’t do that with an audience.” Harry couldn’t believe that he said that and it appeared that neither did the other. Malfoy just stared at him until the gaze became too much for the Gryfindor. “Well it was nice seeing you gotta go.”

And with that Harry ran off up the stairs. His mind was still reeling with what he had said that he hardly noticed that he was outside the room of requirements. Perfect he thought. This was the best place to look at the next clue. So pacing in front of the room thinking ‘I need a place to think’ Harry waited for the door to appear.
Finally stepping inside Harry fell into the armchair that sat before a roaring fire. Taking the note out of his pocket Harry nervously licked his lips before breaking the seal.

‘Harry

Well done in figuring out the first clue. Now I’m sure you’re eager for the next clue so here it is.

We are in every castle no matter place or time
Above your head the next clue does rest
Where people sleep under a third eye

So there it is! If you think it’s hard don’t despair for with every clue you’re coming closer to the seal.’

Harry groaned. This was even harder then the last one. Nodding to himself the boy wonder decided to use his previous strategy since it seemed to have worked. Alright first part.

‘We are in every castle no matter place or time’

Okay so this place or thing is in every castle ever made. That could be anything from floor to ceiling. Shaking his head Harry looked at the next part of the clue.

‘Above your head the next clue does rest’

Instinctively Harry looked up. Was the next clue pasted to a ceiling? If so how the hell was he supposed to get it down? The clue being on the ceiling did make sense in a weird way since all castles have ceilings. But he couldn’t just go walking around the castle staring at the ceilings. This sucks so badly Harry thought as he went onto the last part.

‘Where people sleep under a third eye’

What the fucking fuck was that supposed to mean? A third eye? What in the name of Merlin could that possibly mean? Taking a deep breath Harry tried to calm himself.
Now to think. This place is obviously where lots of people are. So where does everyone go that has a ceiling? Harry lent back trying to think.

Lets see there’s the great hall, the common rooms, classes and bathrooms. But out of those where do people sleep. The common rooms and classes, well some of them at least. So the clue is on the ceiling of either a common room or a classroom.

That seemed to be the logical thing from what Harry had worked out but why then did he get the feeling that he was wrong? Harry was brought out of his analysis of his feeling by a noise telling him to figure it out later but eat first.
So sighing Harry made his way to the great hall feeling that he was no closer to finding the next clue then he was that morning.

Harry slumped back in his chair tiredly rubbing his eyes. After dinner he had yet again been roped into doing homework but the problem with this was that he couldn’t get the clue out of his head. It had been bugging him for the past few hours.
“Harry are you all right?” Ron asked.

“Yeah I’m fine just tired.” Harry replied.

“Well at least you finished your work I still have to do that stupid divination.” Ron groaned.
Harry’s head snapped up at that. That was it! How could he have been so stupid?

‘We are in every castle no matter place or time’ That meant the tower.
‘Above your head the next clue does rest’ The towers were above your head in the castle.
‘Where people sleep under a third eye’ People always sleep during divination and Trelawney is always going on about the third eye.
“Yes!” Harry said.

“What?” Ron asked genuinely confused. Harry blushed as he realised that he had said that aloud. So now he knew where the next clue was all he had to do was get it. Sighing Harry decided that he would wake up early the next day and go before classes.

So that’s this chapter. Tell me if you like it or hate it.
Jinx.
