One Last Chance

Chapter Two

\"Draco!\"Ginny cried.She knelt down to examine him closer.She gasped as she saw dried blood all over his face.One of his eyes was swollen,and his lip spilt.\"What the hell happened to you?\"She asked i a near whisper.Draco groaned in response.Ginny grabbed onto one of his arms and attempted to hoist him up,but he was too heavy for her.She tried several more times,and finally managed to drag him into a chair at the table.She then retrieved a moist cloth and held it to his face.She washed away the crusted blood from his face as he just stared at her in awe.

\"Ginny...\"He said quietly.

\"Shh...hold still.\"She replied.Draco winced as she wipped up a cut near his eye.When she was finished she just stared at him.She couldn\'t believe that after all these years he was here.She thought she\'d be happy,but something inside her told her this wasn\'t right.She wanted to throw him down and kiss him,touch him,make love to him.But she couldn\'t.He left her.He didn\'t want her.No,there was a different reason he was here.

\"What happened to you,Draco?\"Ginny asked,concerned.

\"My father,that\'s what happened.\"Draco replied coldly.

\"Why are you here?\"She asked.\"I havent seen you for two years.\"Draco stiffened.

\"I-I...\"He stammered.He looked over at Trixie sitting in her high chair staring at the two.His expression softened at he looked at her.\"Is this...?\"

\"Yes,this is my baby,Draco.\"Ginny told him,she didn\'t think she was quite ready to admit Trixie was his.She was still cross with him.\"But you didn\'t answer my question.Why are you here?\"Draco wasn\'t listening.He was staring at the child.Something about those eyes looked so familiar.They were filled with so much warmth and love.He\'d seen them somewhere before,he just couldn\'t place them.

\"She looks just like you,Gin.\"He said as the baby giggled at him and clapped her hands.

\"Thank you,I guess.\"She replied,annoyed.The door to the basement opened.A half asleep nearly naked Harry walked into the kitchen,rubbing his eyes.

\"Gin,don\'t you think it\'s a little late for-\"Harry stopped dead as he spotted Draco.\"What are you doing here,Malfoy?\"He asked coldly.Draco smirked and looked at Harry\'s white boxers.

\"I could ask you the same question,Potter.\"

\"Ok guys,let\'s not get into this again.\"Ginny said,coming between them as they glared at each other.\"We\'re all adults here.\"

\"What\'s he doing here?\"Harry repeated,not taking his eyes off of Draco.

\"He\'s hurt and he had nowhere to go.You don\'t need to get all over protective,Harry.\"Ginny informed her boyfriend.

\"Maybe he ought to sod off and go somewhere else,then before I add to his injuries.\"Harry answered.Draco stood up,less then three inches taller then Harry.

\"Is that a threat,Potter?\"He asked,menacingly.Ginny stood inbetween them and oushed them back.

\"Cut out the macho bullshit,alright?You\'re grown men,and the baby\'s right here!\"She said desperately.Both boys snapped out of it and looked over at Trixie who was watching them intensely.Harry walked over to her and picked her up.

\"Hey Trixie.\"He said as he tickled her stomache.Ginny sat back down,keeping her eyes on Draco who was still glaring at Harry.

\"Now,Draco,do you have anywhere you could go?\"She asked him.He turned to look at her and she could have sworn she saw a hint of a tear in his eye.Before she knew it,the tear was gone.

\"Nope.\"He simply replied,then turned his attention back to Harry and Trixie.

\"Whiy dont you go back to the Malfoy Manor?\"Harry asked,not bothering to hide his rudeness.Draco sneered at the raven haired boy.

\"I\'m not going back there.\"He replied firmly.

\"Alright,just calm down there.\"Harry said a little too loudly.

\"Do you have a problem with me being here,Potter?\"Draco asked,standing up again.

\"Maybe I do.\"Harry replied,setting Trixie down on the floor and returning Draco\'s glare.

\"Oh my gosh!Will you two just give it a rest?\"Ginny said,frustated.\"We\'re not at Hogwarts anymore,you know!\"

\"Fine,Gin.I\'ll stop because it bugs you.\"Harry said,stepping down.Draco smirk triumphantly.

\"Thank you.\"She sighed.She really didn\'t want to be a referee in her kitchen,especially not with her baby there.

\"I think I\'m gonna put Trixie back to bed then head downstairs.\"Harry anounced after a few moments of silence.

\"Alright hun,I\'ll be down in a few.\"Ginny replied.Harry gave her a quick kiss good night then picked up Trixie and headed into the living room.Draco watched Harry leave,never taking his eyes off him.

\"Please don\'t tell me you\'re screwing him now.\"He said after a moment.

\"Maybe I am.\"Ginny replied.\"Are you jealous,Draco?\"He chuckled a little at this.

\"Oh no.I got over you a long time ago,trust me.\"He told her.Ginny let out a sigh of relief.At least he wasn\'t here to beg her to get back together.

\"Well it has been two years.\"She agreed.

\"Yeah...\"An awkward silence followed.



\"Well,\"Ginny said after a while.\"I guess you could stay here.You can sleep in Ron\'s old room.\"

\"No way am I sleeping in his old bed!\"Draco exclaimed.

\"If you want you can sleep outside with the gnomes.\"She told him,half sarcastically.

\"Fine.\"Draco gave up.\"Show me where it is.\"

The two walked up the narrow winding staircase,every few steps it creaked slow and low.Ginny walked carefully so as not to wake her parents.When they got up to the top floor she opened a door to reveal a bright orange room covered in Chudley Cannon posters.

\"Yuck.\"Draco exclaimed as they stepped inside.

\"I know,\"She said.\"But hey,they\'re not doing too bad now that Ron\'s their keeper.\"

\"He\'s playing professional!?\"Draco turned around to look at Ginny who looked back at him seriously.

\"Yep,he just got drafted this year.Surprised?\"She asked him,raising an eyebrow at the shocked look on his face.

\"Just a little.\"He answered.

Ginny showed Draco around the room and told him where the bathrooms and everything were.She warned him not to wake her parents for her father would flip.She assured him she\'d wake him tomorrow then went to bid him goodnight.There was tension in the air as she stared into his silver eyes for the first time in two years.Shocked,she no longer saw the warmth that had once occupyed them,but saw coldness and hurt.The sight took her breath away and she had to quickly tear her eyes from his so as to not get lost in them.

\"Well,\"She said.\"Good night.\"

\"Good night.\"Draco replied,awkwardly.Ginny then left,shutting the door behind her.Draco sighed and fell onto the bed.He sighed loudly,asking himself \"What have I gotten myself into?\"
