Chapter Two

“Draco, who’s at the door?” shouted a voice. “It’s just
an old friend,” he shouted back.
“I’m sorry. Where are my manners? Here, I’ll help you up,” he said,
offering me his hand. I took it and stood back up. “Who wanted to know
who was at the door?” I asked as we walked down the halls.
“Oh, either Emily or Ingrid,” he said. “Who?” I asked.
“Oh, dear. It has been a while since you’ve been here. Well, Ingrid
is my adopted sister and Emily,” he said. “Is my wife.” My heart literally
sank. I could feel it. I was hoping so much that he would still be single. He
obviously didn’t see my crestfallen look, as he kept talking.
“Yep, that’s right. Me, the ladies-man, and not to mention Slytherin
sex god, is married. I didn’t really want to get married, but father expected it,
so here I am, stuck in a marriage of convenience.” That whole thing made me
perk up. He still had his sarcastic humor, which I loved, and he was only in a
marriage of convenience. That pretty much completely turned my sadness
into it-could-be-worse-ness.
“Not to be rude, but why her?” I asked. “Well after Pansy died
in the war, father found Emily. So here I am, stuck with her forever,” he
said. “Wizarding marriages are forever?” I asked. “Mostly, although it isn’t
quite permanent until you have your first child. But before that, it is still hard
to get out of,” he said sadly. “Do you have kids?” I asked.
“NO! Of course not!’ he said. I looked at him surprised. “I’m
sorry, but we don’t...well we...don’t exactly...” he stuttered. It took me a
minute to figure out what he was trying to say. When I did, I burst out
laughing. “Little Dracey-wakey can’t say sex?” I asked in a sing-song
voice. He turned bright red.
Finally, I stopped laughing. “So why are you here?” he asked.
“Well...um...I got...evicted from my apartment. Do you think I could stay
here for awhile?” I asked. “Sure why not. We got lots of extra space,” he
said with a smile. “We may not have kids, but have someone close
enough,” he said, his smile turning mischievous.
“I HEARD THAT DRACO MALFOY!” shouted a voice. I thought
recognized that voice. When I realized who it was, I burst out laughing,
along with Draco. Suddenly, a person dressed all in black swooped down
on us. For the first time, I fully appreciated why people had called him the
big, greasy bat at school. He glared at us.
“If you are quite done!” he said coldly. I managed to stop laughing
and catch my breath just enough to stutter out, “Sev-Sever-Severus, h-hi,” I said.
He continued to glare. “Your wife wants you,” he said. Then he turned on heel and
strode away. When we finally composed ourselves, we walked toward the kitchen.
Once we entered, I let out a shriek. “EMILY!” I said. She turned around.
“JEN!” she shrieked. “You two know each other?” asked Draco. Severus had his hands
over his ears. “I believe I’ve gone deaf,” he said as he stood up and made a quick
exit. “We don’t just know each other,” I said. “We’re cousins!” “COUSINS?” he shouted.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” “I didn’t know you knew each other!” Emily said. “Oh my
God Jen! It has been way to long! Come! We must catch up!” she said, grabbing
my arm. I gave Draco a help me! look. He started laughing. “If you just go along
with it, you might live!” he said as I was physically removed from the room.

************************************************************************

We talked for hours on end. After about two hours, our talk turned
to her and Draco’s marriage. “It was really just a marriage of convenience. We
had a small private ceremony with just us and our parents,” she said. “Did you
ever get married Jen?” “Actually, that’s why I’m here. My boyfriend just broke up
with me, and Draco once told me....if I needed a place to stay, I could come
here,” I said. She smiled evilly at me. “You like Draco don’t you?” she asked.
“WHAT? I mean....no. Of course not, he’s married.” I said quickly. “Jen you
don’t have to lie to me. You can’t lie to me. And besides, you’re forgetting he’s
in a marriage without love,” she said.
“And besides, we have a strictly platonic relationship, even if we
are married. Can I tell you a secret Jen?” “Sure you can trust me,” she said.
“Ok, I’ve...I’ve...I’ve been trying to get a divorce ever since we got married!” she
blurted. I was shocked. She didn’t want to be married to Draco? “Why?” I asked.
“Well, you see...well...ok, you have to absolutely promise you won’t tell anyone
what I’m about to say,” she said. “Ok, I promise,” I said. I was really intrigued now.
“Well, you see...before my parents made me marry Draco I was...seeing
someone. And well...I loved him. We were actually planning to get married when...well
you know,” she said. I was shocked. Not only she didn‘t want to be married to Draco,
but she loved someone else?
“Who was it?” I asked. “I...don’t think I should tell you. But here’s one
thing I will tell you, that you absolutely cannot tell anyone. I’m...stillseeinghim!” she
said the last part in one big breath. Now I was even more shocked. My eyes were as
round as quarters. “Now, I won’t tell you where, when, or how, but I am. So Draco is
yours for the taking, if you can convince him. But I think...just think...that Draco might
actually like me. I think we may have to investigate it a little more,” she said as a
mischievous smile crossed her face. After that, our converstation went back to normal.
Little did we know, that just around the corner, a spy had heard our
whole conversation, “Ahhh, I see we have a bit of blackmail here. Well, we’ll just
have to see Draco about this,” and with that, the spy took off to find his friend.

A/N 2: Not much to say about that. Except MUHAHAHAHA! Please review!
