“To freedom!” Ron raised his glass of fire-whiskey in a toast. Several glasses clinked and voices rose in agreement. He sat at the kitchen table, the only free space left in the Burrow, with Harry, Hermione, Neville, Dean and Seamus. The six friends were already quite tipsy and the night was still young.
“To never having to take another exam!” Harry raised his glass again, but this time neither Ron, nor Hermione toasted with him.
“Easy for you to say,” Ron grumbled. “You’re not taking Auror training in the fall.”
“What are you going to do, Harry,” Hermione asked.
“I don’t know. I like the idea of being an Auror. It’s just that I’ve had seventeen years of being told what to do and how to do it. I’m tired of it. I… I want… I want something… different.”
Harry stared off into space, thinking. He had been doing that a lot recently. Everyone had been asking what he wanted to do after graduation, but he had no idea. He was tired of being directed by everyone else. He wanted something for himself, he just didn’t know what that something was yet.
He wandered out of the kitchen and into the main stream of the party. Everyone was there from their grade, it seemed. The school robes had been dropped as were the Houses. Now, for the first time, everyone was equal in every way. Even Draco Malfoy fit in with the rest of the crowd. The only thing that stood him apart was his brilliant blond hair and dazzling eyes. He was currently surrounded by girls from every house, and even a few boys.
“So, are you going to kiss him or what?” Harry asked as Ron, standing next to him, gave a deep sigh of longing.
“It’s not that easy, mate.” Ron stared at the blond boy he had been admiring for nearly a year. The two had managed to put aside their prejudices long enough to help Harry bring the Dark Lord down, and had even become somewhat friendly to each other over the last several months. Ron was still too scared to tell the man how he felt, though.
“Sure it is!”
“Then you kiss him!” Ron gave him a glare.
“Fine,” Harry said as he downed the homemade alcohol in his glass. He set the empty glass down and walked through the crowd as Ron sputtered and gasped.
Harry walked straight up to Draco and slapped his hand up against the wall right next to his head, giving him a Mona Lisa smile.
“What do you want, Potter?” Draco eyed his suspiciously and could smell Snape’s alcohol on his breath. He was reminded that Harry had been the one to steal the Potions Master’s recipe several months ago. He had taken responsibility for it, just so he could blackmail Harry into sharing with him.
“A kiss,” Harry said seductively before leaning in and pressing his lips over Draco’s startled mouth. He pressed his body against the slightly taller boy’s, grinding his leg into Draco’s growing erection and his own against Draco’s thigh. Harry licked along his perfect teeth, the roof of his mouth, then tangled around his tongue. He could taste the same alcohol on Draco that he was drinking, but also something that was uniquely Draco. He pulled back, licking his lips, the odd smile still shining.
“Not bad. Too bad you’re not my type.” Harry patted his cheek, gave him a wink, and walked away from the astounded young man.
“Not your… What the hell’s in this stuff?” Draco peered at the bottle in his hands, suddenly feeling very drunk.
“There, you see?” Harry said as he returned to Ron’s side, smiling wickedly. “Not that difficult at all!”
“I can’t believe you kissed him!” Ron said into his hands.
“I can’t believe you didn’t!” Harry rolled his eyes at his best friend. “He’s really pretty good, too.”
