Chapter 3
Draco watched as the Hermione ran off down the hall. He snickered. “An emotional Gryffindor forever and always,” he whispered. This was more perfect than if he had tried to plan it himself. He was almost skipping down the hall he was so giddy. His life got just a little bit better when he saw Harry at the bottom of the stair arguing with Ron. All he needed now was a few other mudbloods to be driven into strife and he would have a perfect day. But alas that was not the case. He would just have to settle for a few well-aimed verbal punches at the youngest weasel. He stalked the halls thinking how wonderful his life had become. His worst enemies where fighting amongst themselves.
As he rounded the corner a small creature ran into him. Both fell back and both grabbed for the other to stay upright.
The feel of her small frame against his was intoxicating. And when I realized whom it was he was holding, he very nearly threw her to the ground.
“Watch where you are going, Granger!”
“Get out of my way, Malfoy.” Hermione spat. She drew her wand out and held it towards his head. He backed up and moved to the side to allow her to pass. Why was it whenever she was mad, he was always at the end of her wand?
He looked onto that face stained with tears. It came to him that he hadn’t seen her face light up with a smile in a very long time. He could almost miss seeing that beautiful face glow with a full smile.
‘Get a grip Draco,’ he chastised himself.
She stormed past him when he was finally out of the way. He wasn’t so sure this was the perfect day anymore. He knew if she stayed in the type of mood someone would get hurt. And it was going to most likely be him. His mind drifted back to the day that horrid beast was killed. A small ghost pain shot through his cheek.
Hermione was still crying when she came out of the bathroom. And she didn’t want anybody else to see her. So she picked up her pace. But that was before she literally ran into Malfoy. Now she was mad beyond words. How could that soulless son of a bitch be so infuriating? He was always walking around as if he owned the school. She stalked toward her rooms. It was at least a couple of hours before she had to help sweep the halls for late students.
She got there and flopped onto a chair in front of the fireplace. She couldn’t get him out of her mind. He was just stuck there. Driving her nuts. She was just about to throw a book across the room when a knock at the door startled her.
Hermione cursed to herself as she walked across the floor to the door. She flung it open with so much force, that she very nearly broke it off its hinges.
“What!” She spat at the person who was standing I front of her. Too late to take anything back, she blanched. “Sorry, about that,” she quickly added. “I’ve been on edge today.”
Kim looked like he was going to run away screaming that there was a banshee in the castle.
“Kim, isn’t it?”
He looked back at her and just nodded.
“Come on inside,” She help him threw the port hole. “What can I help you with?”
He finally realized that he was the one who knocked on her door, therefore it was to him she was talking. But he was still having a hard time getting over the anger he had seen, both in her face and her eyes. No wonder they had won the war. With feminine anger like that on their side it was a wonder why Voldermort didn’t just give up.
“Umm,” He gulped, “I was wondering if you could help me in Defence Against the Dark Arts. I don’t think that … Professor Snape likes me much.”
She tried not to giggle.
“He doesn’t like anybody but the Slytherins. It’s just how he is.”
He looked at the joy that took over her face when she told her his problems. She was beautiful. Now he could see why someone like Victor Krum would want to date her.
The door behind them opened and Draco slipped in.
“Please don’t mind me Granger,” he snickered. “I see you are busy with another guy.”
Kim watched the same intense anger fall onto that lovely face. Now he knew why she was so angry. The talk was that these two never really did get along. It was something to do with being friends with Harry Potter. But he didn’t know what was going on. Rumour had it that the Golden Trio had broken up. Nobody knew why.
Kim suddenly realized what Malfoy had meant by that comment. He could feel the blood rush to his face as he blushed.
“Get lost Malfoy,” she spat at him.
Kim knew that this was getting out of hand so he spoke up.
“Well, I guess I’ll be going now.” He quickly dashed for the port hole. Just as it was closing he heard some rather vulgar words exchanged and what sounded like a few heavy thing being hurled.
