Chapter 2

Title: A Hardened Heart

Disclaimer: Don’t own, Don’t ask, Don’t Tell, but I think this is where she should go with the mess she has left us in. Mind you she might not have quite as much fun with the characters as I do.

Warnings: To Be Confirmed

Pairings: HarryxSeverus

“I have information, if you’re willing to pay the price, Harry.”

Harry swung around. The voice that had spoken was as unwelcome as the use of his name. His lips curled up into a snarl as he confirmed his original identification.

“What information would that be, Draco? I suggest you leave, there are others before you on my list.”

“I have information on the whereabouts of one Serverus Snape. I was led to understand that this could be of some value to you.” He stopped to stare at his nails, performing the arrogant student, he had once been, flawlessly. He knew he had sparked Harry’s interest now all he had to do was reel him in.

“Really? Shall we retire to my room and discuss this more privately, before someone in here realises who we are?” Harry gestured around the room, at the many dark robes and haggard faces. Both sides wanted each of them dead. Draco gestured for him to lead the way and they moved quietly to the back of the small pub, finding room five and closing the door.

“Tell me now why I shouldn’t kill you where you stand?” Harry asked his arms by his sides, ready to trigger his wrist wand release.

“Because I know where Serverus is and I am willing to take you to him, for a price.”

“And why would you share this wonderful piece of information with me. I was of the understanding that he was hiding you from those idiots after you failed to do a simple task like killing Dumbledore.” Draco blanched slightly, reminding himself of his weakness and misplaced love for his father. “What’s the price?”

“Ten Minutes.” Harry looked at him quizzically “Ten minute of listening to his reasons. He had to do it Harry, there was no other choice, for him, Dumbledore or me. He is dying, Harry, dying a very slow and painful death. You can help him or you can help him on his way. Listen to him before you make up your mind.”

Draco let the desperation reach his eyes for a fleeting moment but long enough for Harry to see it. He knew that look he had worn it many times. Desperation to believe there was hope, hope for so many things, but mostly hope for his life. Hope didn’t exist anymore. He didn’t want to listen, he didn’t care for reasons, didn’t care about anything but his own retribution. He deserved it, he needed it.

“How did you find me?” Trying to delay his decision and make Draco give him some clue without giving in to his useless demands.

“It is easy, just look for something hollow. Everyone one else is looking for Harry Potter. That’s not who you are anymore. Give me your answer now, what have you got to loose?” Harry stared at the floor for a moment, trying to squash the sickly feeling in his stomach, knowing he would be looking into those dark eyes again and hoped the hate he had cultivated stopped him from faltering.

“Agreed. You will have your ten minutes and then he will be dead and I will move on. Incidentally you are third on my list so watch out because I will be coming after you once Tom is dead. It shouldn’t take too long.” Without another word Draco grabbed his arm and they disapperated away.
