Chapter 2. Part A. In the Dark...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exactly two days had passed since Draco had last seen Harry. He had completely disappeared from all their shared lessons, as well as not attending breakfast, lunch or dinner in the Great Hall. Draco was mightily perplexed. Numerous of the other teachers weren\'t present at their lesson eithers, having other teachers to substitute for them, or just giving them study breaks in the library instead. Specifically missing were McGonagall, Flitwick, and something that worried Draco almost as much as the thought of Harry being missing, Severus and Dumbledore.
Draco, always the cool, calm and sophisticated young master, was almost ready to pull out his perfectly groomed hair. He hadn\'t missed the fact that Weasley and Granger were also nowhere to be found during many lessons. Had to be for a good reason, Granger was usually more willing to face death than miss a class.
Growling indecipherable words of obvious displeasure, Draco decided, enough was enough. About time that he take matters into his own hands. And so, he began his search for Granger and Weasley, meandering down corridors in the general direction of the library. Actually, Draco was kind of hoping they would find him. Would save him a lot of effort, he grumbled agitatedly.
As you would have it though, no such luck in store for one Draco Malfoy. The library seemed to be filled with squabbling first years. Glaring murderously at the trouble makers, not really admitting that he himself fitted rather well into that category, he proceeded towards the more deserted sections of the Hogwart\'s Library. A secluded aisle beckoned him into it, where he found a large comfortable arm chair in which he flopped majestically. Then again everything a Malfoy does is majestic. Draco couldn\'t help but snort at his snobbish other half.
Reclined lazily in the horribly bright red chair, Draco strangely enough found it very consoling. Brushing his pale hands against it he suddenly realised why. It reminded him of Harry. With this thought he was happy to close his eyes, stretch his legs out languidly, and drift off to sleep...
Startled awake by a sudden noise, Draco refrained from squeeling, almost... At least it was a manly squeel, Draco informed his slightly wounded pride. It was starting to get dark out. He noticed that there were faint scuffling sounds coming from the next aisle over. Peering through the books on the dividing shelves he spotted the source of the noise. Granger and Weasley. Draco silently observed them as they tried to find a comfortable place for them to sit and chat... that or snog, but as Draco had quite liked his lunch and wished it to stay where it was, he blocked out the rather disturbing visual the word snog evoked when included in a sentence with Granger and Weasley.
\"\'Mione, is he...?\" Weasley looked slightly panicked whilst speaking those two simple words, is he? Who is he? And is he what? Wait... Back on up... where\'s Harry!?
\"Ron, they still don\'t know anything yet. I know nothing more than you.\" Draco almost snarled, Well you two bloody know more than I do! Lucky he was trained to keep silent, after all children were to be seen and not heard, unless you were supposed to be screaming in mind-numbing pain... Minutes passed.
A sigh from Weasley. How opportune, so far I have learnt that Weasley\'s vocabulary extends to at least 3 words. And some sound effects.
\"Ron. Everything will be fine. It always is. No matter what, we always pull through, every single year... we do what we can and it\'s always been enough.\"
\"But what if this time it isn\'t?!\" Those angry words just seemed to erupt forth from Weasley\'s mouth, as if he couldn\'t hold in his fear anymore. Draco picked up on it immediately, it was there in his tone of voice, every single syllable resounding with it. Concern but underlying it all, gut-wrenching fear, and it was starting to affect Draco. His own mind churning through a hundred horrid scenarios.
\"There\'s nothing we can do, Ron. Harry will come back to us. I\'m sure of it,\" and that\'s when Granger got up from her seat on the floor, extending her hand to Weasley, who took it firmly. They contemplated each other seriously. \"Let\'s go.\"
They left, taking the lantern that they had brought with them, and Draco was plunged into darkness. Left to ponder what vague clues he had garnered.
