Chapter 3: Special Owl Delivery
Duplicity of Friendship-
Chapter 3: Special Owl Delivery
It had been a week since Harry and Hermione had witnessed Profssor Snape and Mrs. Malfoy. Harry had surreptiouly been watching the Potions Master for a sign of anything. Hermione focused her attention on one Draco Malfoy.
For a Tuesday the day had progress as usual. Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny met at the Gryffindor table for breakfast at the regular time. Hermione and Ginny poked fun at Ron\'s neverending appetite, while Harry sipped his pumpkin juice watching Snape covertly. Overall it was a blissful breakfast.
Suddenly, an eagle owl flew into Hogwarts. It circled the Great Hall. Draco stood as if expecting it to land in front of him, but much to his and everyone else\'s shock it landed in from of Ginny. Ginny simply removed the package the owl carried and fed him some of her bacon. Then she scribbled a note from a piece of stationary that magically appeared in front her and gave it to the owl. The owl flew off quickly after he ate his treat. The entire exchange took less than a minute and left the entire Hall silent. Once the owl left everyone in the Hall seemed to go back to what they had been doing before the owl arrived.
The Gryffindors around Ginny were quite curious as to what was in the package that she had retrieved from the owl. Across the Great Hall, Draco Malfoy was the most curious of everyone. In his mind an owl like that did not associate with someone like Ginny Weasley. \"For one thing she was a blood traitor Weasley! They don\'t know about nice things like eagle owls.\" he thought petulantly. \"Yet, she treated the whole situation like it was nothing.\"
Draco knew about Ginny and the Chamber of Secrets. He had always wondered how it really affected her. After the experience she possessed the confidence that most female Slytherins would envy. She even stopped moping after \"saint Potter\". \"Of course she had been under the influence of the Dark Lord for a while. Maybe she learned something...\", reasoned Draco. \"Knowledge is power. And it would be worthwhile to find out on which side the girl actually stands.\"
Still he wanted to know what was in that package....
Harry, Ron,& Hermione had also taken an interest in Ginny\'s special delivery.
Hermione\'s curiosity centered around the \"wandless\" magic that Ginny had used to “bring up” her stationary. \"It bore a striking resemblance to the “wandless” magic that Narcissa Malfoy used in front of Snape the other night. How would Ginny learn something like that without one of us knowing about it,\" thought Hermione.
\"We don\'t know anyone with an owl like that,\" exclaimed Ron, \"I want to know who sent that package and what it is.\"
\"Ron, yelling at her will not work. Trust me. Why don\'t you just ask her politely,\" Hermione pointed out.
\"Hermione, if you were Ginny, would you discuss your mail, particularly mail that could be considered illicit,\" Harry was waggling his eyebrows.
\"Harry, don\'t goad him. He is insufferable enough without you giving him ammunition against poor Ginny. I am surprised that any of the boys look at her given that the girl has six brothers. Nevermind, the fact that they\'re the six Weasley brothers,\" bemoaned Lavender.
\"And what is wrong with having six brothers to back you up,\" asked Harry.
\"Could you imagine some poor guy trying to ask Ginny out on a date other than you, Harry. I pity the poor bastard!,\" snickered Parvati
.
\"Yea,\" laughed Hermione, \"Ginny would have to defend him against you guys. It would be too wrong.\"
\"You make us sound like OVEPROTECTIVE PRATS!\" yelled Ron.
\"Sorry mate,\" smoothed Seamus and patted Ron on the back, \"But when it comes to Ginny all of you change into these horribly disfigured monsters who would turn on your best friends should said friends look at your darling sister sideways. I have one thing to say: then odds are bad…VERY BAD!\"
While Seamus was making fun of Ron the entire table started to snicker. Then the snickering increased and turned into laughter. Unfortunately, Ron missed the humor of the moment. He immediately stood up and stalked away fuming with disgust.
Seamus yelled after him, \"Ahh come on Ron, you have to marry her off
sometime! Unfortunately, I doubt the groom would survive his bachelor party.\"
