CHAPTER THREE
Chapter Three
All through the next day during classes, Hermione, Harry, Ginny, and Blaise tried hard to subdue their grins in anticipation for dinner.
Draco had been watching Blaise for most of the day, and warily regarded the smile that seemed to be permanently on his face. He knew that look...the look that showed he was up to something. He had noticed that Blaise hadn’t turned a page for about a half hour as they sat in the Slytherin common room waiting until it was dinner time.
“Good book there Blaise?” Draco asked.
“Huh?” Blaise looked up. “Oh...yeah it is.”
“What’s it about?” Draco asked closing his own book.
“Um...” Blaise looked at the cover of the book, “it’s about a group of people that survived a world wide plague, pretty well killing everyone,” he replied.
“Who wrote it?”
“A muggle author called Stephen, something or other,” Blaise answered then closed his book.
“So which one is it?” Draco asked.
“What?”
“Which of the two have you been screwing around with?” Draco asked exasperatedly.
“What two?” Blaise asked grinning, knowing perfectly well what Draco was asking.
“Granger or the Weaslette,” Draco said through clenched teeth.
Blaise then started to laugh at the frustrated look on Draco’s face. “They’re both kind of cute. Ginny’s got this cute impish character...not to mention a cute little body...probably got a nice dusting of freckles on other parts of her body,” he mused dreamily.
“And Granger?”
“Hermione’s got brains, beauty, and a hell of a sense of humor...not to mention the way she looks in jeans and those tight little t-shirts,” Blaise answered grinning.
“You wouldn’t sink that low...would you?” Draco asked.
“Are you still on that whole ‘mudblood’ thing?” Blaise asked. “Magically she is probably one of the most powerful witches here....other than the professors, not to mention she could probably hex both our balls off with a flick of her wrist,” he added looking to Draco.
“I’m way past the ‘mudblood’ stage,” Draco answered. “I’ve found that muggles got a lot of good things going for them.”
“Like what?” Blaise grinned.
“Like television, movies, CD players, jeans, runners....” Draco listed ticking the items off of his fingers.
“I get the picture Drake,” Blaise laughed holding up his hand to stop Draco’s ongoing list. “Has your father warmed to the idea also?”
“Yeah, he’s the one that bought me the CD player,” Draco grinned. “I’m getting him a television and DVD player for Christmas.”
“I’ve got to see that reaction,” Blaise laughed.
“You can if you come over for Christmas,” Draco said getting up.
“Is that an offer?” Blaise asked as they walked through the Slytherin portrait.
“Yeah. I’m sure mother and father wouldn’t mind if you and your family come over for the holidays,” Draco smirked.
“I’ll get back to you,” Blaise said putting his arm around the slightly shorter blonde’s shoulder.
Just before dinner Fred and George Weasley arrived, baring a parcel for Ginny. “Hey Gin, here’s the dress robes you asked for,” Fred grinned.
“Mum suggested that we drop it off so we could visit with our favorite sister...” George said.
“And Ron of course,” Fred finished, then looked to the stairs that went up to the boys dormitories. “Ron! Love the new hair,” he laughed.
“Shut it Fred,” Ron glared, “what are you two doing here?” he asked.
“They brought me a dress robe that I had asked for,” Ginny replied, then turned to the twins. “We were just about to head down for dinner. Would you like to join us?” she asked innocently.
“Sounds like a splendid idea. Since we moved in over our shop, we don’t get the meals we used to when we were in school or living at home,” George sighed.
The group of Gryffindor’s made their way down the seven flights of stairs to the Great Hall where most of the student’s were already sitting. Hermione and Harry moved over to make room for the four Weasley’s. “What is with Loony Luna and the purple hair?” Ron asked looking to the Ravenclaw table where Luna’s hair stuck out brightly in the crowd.
“Does Ronnikins have a girlfriend?” George teased.
“Shut it George,” Ron said, his face flushing pink from embarrassment when Luna looked over to him.
As the twins continued to tease their younger brother, Hermione and Blaise shared a few secret glances across the hall. They arranged their own private meeting to try out the different flavors of jelly beans later in her rooms. Once the chicken, beef, vegetables, and bread...just to name a few of the dishes, were cleared from their plates, the desserts appeared before them....pies, puddings, and cakes to tempt the already full students into just sampling a portion of each. In the middle of their plates, there appeared a small bundle of colored beans wrapped into a fine mesh cloth, with a white ribbon tightened at the top.
Hermione looked to the small parcel and smiled when she saw a lot of white beans in the mix. “What’s with this?” she asked looked to Harry innocently.
“Maybe it’s from one of the professor’s,” Harry smirked opening his up. He took a red one out and started sucking on the cherry flavored candy. “Mmm...this is good....so good,” he said, his voice catching as he squirmed in his seat.
“Oy mate...looks like you like them,” George said slapping Harry on the back, laughing as Harry took a blue one out of the bunch. “Mmmm....blueberry,” he moaned much to the amusement of Ginny, Hermione, and the twins.
Ron looked at him like he was bonkers, while Hermione and Ginny had their head down on their arms, trying to control their laughter. “It’s just candy for Merlin sakes Harry. You act like you’ve never eaten candy before,” Ron said picking up a white jelly bean.
Hermione looked up to see Ron’s face, his cheeks flushed as he began to get warm. They all watched as he got up from the table with a determined look on his face and walked the few paces to the end of the Gryffindor table. He pulled a very surprised Lavender Brown to her feet and wrapped his arms around her slim waist, then leaned in to kiss her surprised lips.
“Well I never sus....” Hermione began to say before she was pulled to her feet to have her lips latched onto by a pair of soft lips. She just started to kiss back when the person who initiated the kiss broke away to look at her.
“Professor.....” Hermione started, “Snape,” she finished surprised beyond belief as she touched her lips. “Nice,” she grinned to the startled professor.
“That will be twenty points from Gryffindor,” Professor Snape sneered, then abruptly turned on his heel, his robes billowing as he went back up to the faculty table, and to the surprise to many...again, he leaned down to kiss the Divination Professor.
“Well, I don’t know if I should be flattered or insulted,” Hermione grinned.
“How was it?” Ginny asked eagerly.
“Nice. An amazing kiss. Hard body too...what I could feel of it for that brief time,” Hermione replied.
“That was just too disturbing,” Harry laughed, chewing on another bean.
Draco looked around the Great Hall in bewilderment. “What in bloody hell is going on?” he asked as he saw the older Slytherin students just get up and kiss someone. He happened to glance to Hermione, “and what’s with Severus? Has he lost his mind?” he said seeing his Head of House kiss Hermione soundlessly and passionately.
“Never would have figured that,” Blaise murmured catching Hermione’s eye after she sat back down after the kiss with Snape. He raised his brow and grinned at her, where she just shrugged her shoulders and moved over so Ron could sit back down.
Draco then started laughing when he saw Luna...purple hair and all make her way over to Ron. She plopped herself on his lap and kissed him on the mouth. “Gods, they are so made for each other those two,” he said as he picked up a white bean and put it into his mouth.
Blaise had seen Draco pick up the white bean off-handedly while he was laughing, and sat back to see what was going to happen. He noticed Draco’s face turn a bit pink, then turned towards him. His lips were soon latched onto by Draco’s soft ones, his hair being tugged on as he was pulled closer. ‘Was not expecting this,’ he thought to himself as he returned the kiss whole heartedly.
Meanwhile...... Hermione, Harry, and Ginny were all looking over at the Slytherin table. “Now that I wasn’t expecting,” Hermione said. ‘Gods, that looks hot,’ she mused to herself, licking her lips as Draco and Blaise’s kiss deepened.
“Oh, oh,” Ginny said nudging Hermione. They watched Draco pull away from Blaise and get up, looking towards them.
“Who do you think is next?” Hermione asked. “Maybe he’s coming after you Harry,” she grinned.
Harry smirked and was getting ready to bolt for the nearest door. Although he had to admit that Malfoy was rather nice looking, he did not want to go as far as to kiss the bloke.
The three of them, along with some other students and professors watched as Draco made his way around the room towards them, with determination in his every step. Hermione had turned on the bench watching as Draco came closer to them. She was mildly surprised when he stopped in front of her. “Malfoy?” she said in question.
“Granger,” he replied, then pulled her to her feet, turning her so her back was to the wall. He put his one arm around her waist, pulling her to him, his bare arms scraping against the stone walls. The other arm he brought up to cup the side of her face before he leaned in to press his mouth against hers. It was a bruising kiss at first until Hermione started to respond. He softened the kiss, darting his tongue out to taste her lips. She opened for him, her tongue meeting his, exploring each other’s taste. He gave a small moan when he felt the tongue piercing against his tongue and pulled her closer, letting her feel his erection through his jeans. Her moan was muffled as he deepened the kiss, and smiled against her lips as her arms came around his neck.
Hermione’s arms lowered, wanting to feel more of him. She clutched at his arms as she pressed her full body onto his, feeling his erection against her lower stomach. She started to deepen the kiss, oblivious to most of the hall watching when he pulled away, their breathing heavy and erratic.
Draco looked to Hermione in shock, the warm feeling he had felt in his chest after eating the candy now all centered below his waist. He saw the desire mirrored in her brown eyes, then couldn’t help but look past her eyes to her swollen kissed lips. Without saying a word, he turned and stalked off out of the hall.
“What are you ‘Mione? A Slytherin magnet or something?” Ron asked.
Hermione who was still leaning back on the wall, touched her lips and looked to Blaise across the hall. “Seems that way,” she replied quietly, then also left, holding onto the wall for support.
“She going to be okay?” Ginny whispered to Harry.
“Yeah, she just needs to get over the shock of it I think,” Harry replied.
The two of them were then interrupted by someone clearing their throat behind them. “I’d like to see you two...along with you in my office,” Dumbledore said to Ginny, Harry, and the twins.
“Oh, oh,” Fred said getting up to follow the Headmaster.
“I wouldn’t worry about it too much,” Harry grinned. “Did you see his eyes?” They all shook their heads. “They were twinkling,” he added. This reassured the group a little, but still felt apprehensive as they made their way up the stairs.
After they were all seated in the front of Dumbledore’s desk, he looked to Blaise who had run up to them when they left the hall. “What would you be doing here Mister Zabini?” he grinned.
“Well, if they’re here for what I think, then I need to be here too,” Blaise smirked.
“Uh..Professor, why are we here?” Ginny asked innocently.
“Now Miss Weasley, that look doesn’t work on me,” Dumbledore grinned, “I know you take after these two,” he pointed to Fred and George, “quite admirably.”
“It was rather funny....” George began.
“To see Snape kiss Trelawney, not....” Fred added.
“To mention Hermione,” George finished.
“Come in Miss Granger,” Dumbledore said suddenly still looking at the twins who were grinning madly.
Hermione came in looking less shocked and sat between Harry and Blaise. “How does he do that?” Fred asked. It was always a mystery how the Headmaster knew who was behind the door, even before they knocked, and the one secret the Headmaster loved to keep to himself.
Dumbledore just smiled at them, then looked to Ginny, Harry, Blaise, and Hermione. “Now, what do you have to say for yourselves...and...how should you be punished?” he asked trying to be serious, but the twinkle in the eye gave him away.
“We were all doing it for house unity Sir,” Harry said getting a raised brow from Dumbledore in return.
“We know now that Voldemort is gone...some of the house rivalry was slowly loosening up,” Hermione grinned.
“And we were just helping it along,” Ginny finished.
“And the Professors?” Dumbledore asked.
“They needed to loosen up some too,” Blaise smirked.
“Especially Snape,” George murmured to his brother.
“Yes, that was a surprise to many of us,” Dumbledore grinned then looked to Hermione. “For your punishment Miss Granger, you should personally apologize to Professor Snape,” he instructed.
“But does he have to know it was us that did it?” Hermione asked.
“I’m afraid he guessed it when the twins here showed up for dinner,” Dumbledore said gesturing to the twins who just shrugged their shoulders in response.
“Is he really mad about this?” Harry asked.
“I don’t think so. Just a bit embarrassed about it all. I had heard he has a date with Professor Trelawney this weekend though,” Dumbledore smiled.
“And the rest of us Sir?” Blaise asked.
“Since the rest of the school hasn’t figured out who actually pulled the prank, your detention will be with me this Saturday night. My personal library needs organizing, especially the section that notes down the previous pranksters of Hogwarts,” Dumbledore grinned mischievously. “There’s a few books that your godfathers helped fill there also Harry,” he added.
Ginny looked to Blaise, her eyes filled with excitement, then back to Dumbledore. “If we must Sir,” she sighed dramatically.
“Also two more things,” Dumbledore stated. “Nice charm work on Mister Weasley’s hair Miss Granger.....excellent color,” Hermione took the compliment, smiling. The Headmaster then looked to the twins and pulled out a piece of parchment. “I have here some orders for your special jelly beans. And may I suggest some catalogues for your store be delivered to each house. I have heard a few of the students expressing an interest in acquiring some also.”
“Thank you Sir,” George said grinning, then looked to Fred excitedly.
“While you are here, you may want to have a talk with Professor Flitwick. He was quite impressed with your swamp on the fifth floor when you left a few years back,” Dumbledore added, looking to the twins over his spectacles.
“Part of it’s still roped off,” Hermione smirked. “They even put up a plaque saying who did the prank.”
“Really?” George exclaimed.
“We’ve got....” Fred started.
“To see that,” George finished. “Can we go now Sir?” he asked looking to the Headmaster.
“Yes. We are done here,” Dumbledore replied smiling at the two hyper-devilish twins. “The rest of you may go too. Might I suggest bringing some parchment to take notes when you come Saturday for your detention,” he added mischievously.
“Yes Sir. Thank you,” Harry grinned getting up and motioning for the others to leave also.
While Harry went to his and Remus’s rooms, to tell him of the news of their detention, Ginny went up to the Gryffindor tower already planning another prank for the following week. Hermione and Blaise went to the Head Girl’s rooms for their own personal meeting, and to maybe try out some of the other flavors of beans.
