Chapter 3: the Beginning
\"I am called Lucius O\'Connor. How do you do?\" the Irishman asked of Draco. He was completely at odds to the blond\'s expectations. He seemed quite polite, he was well groomed and stunningly gorgeous, and he had the slightest gaelic accent to add a touch of mystique to his words.
\"My name is Draconius Lucius Malfoy. I\'m good. How about you? That was quite an entrance you made. How did you travel through the fire?\" Draco inquired of the boy, Lucius. He kept his eyes on him while he ate, nearly missing his mouth a few times. He was still a bit awed by his beauty, but was hiding it well.
\"My travel wearied me. I have not gone through the flames in quite a while and am a bit rusty in my skills. It is an ancient Celtic mode of travel, to go through the fires on a solstice or equinox; it is possible to do so on any day though.\" Lucius took neat bites of his food, eating almost daintily. His posture was perfect, his manners impecable. He was getting uncomfortable being so formal. He was still unsure of his welcome here, so he was \'putting his best foot foreward\'. \"It is done as a part of the seasonal ritual. Mabon is a good time to do it, but Samhain is the best. If you haven\'t caught on by now, my family and I follow the old ways.\"
\"Ah... that explains it. I know that you are not at liberty to disclose any details. Please, you seem to be uncomfortably formal. Relax, this a school, not a Ministry meeting!\" Draco caught on to his new aquaintence\'s discomfort and smiled widely at the look of relief on the other boy\'s face. He felt a tingling rush go through his when he saw and answering smile turned his way. Draco was oblivious to the envious looks he was garnering from males and females throughou the Great Hall. \"These are my friends: Blaise Zabini- be careful of him, he\'ll try to get in your pants, Pansy Parkinson- watch her too, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, and a few others. I\'m sure that you will become familliar with us all. Now, we should actually eat before I show you to the Slytherine House.\" With that, Draco pretended to set his mind on food, while in actuallity, it was firmly intrenched with thoughts Lucius.
Lucius smiled to all the Slytherines introduced to him and then looked at his plate. He was still sitting stiffly, looking almost like he was in pain. Then his whole body relaxed into a lazy slouch and he started actually eating his food, the way a normal person does, not like some delicate bird. He felt almost like this was where he belonged, at Hogwarts, in Slytherine, sitting with Draco.

\'It is not possible that he was put into Slytherine! A guy that gorgeous has to be in Gryffindor, or at least not Slytherine! I wonder if I have a chance of getting in his pants anyway?\' Harry\'s thoughts were echoed in many forms throughout the minds of the other students. Everyone was hot for the new guy.
\"Oh my God! He should be illegal! Thoughs are looks to kill for!\" Hermione gasped out loud. She and Ron had been casually going out for a while, and Ron blushed at hearing this, knowing that he was being compared to the other guy. \"I have no interest in him what-so-ever. I have the man I want.\" She looked back at her boyfriend, and smiled knowingly at the blush she had known would be there. Her statement made him blush all the harder.
\"Too bad he\'s in Slytherine. Malfoy will probably screw up any chance the Gryffindor\'smight have had with him,\" Harry mused out loud.
\"Yeah, too bad.\"
Little did he know that he was about to be shown wrong.

After their supper, Draco led Lucius through the corridors to the entrance of the dungeon common room of the Slytherines. \"Manticore,\" Draco produced as the password. Lucius\'s first glimps of the commons was an impressive one. The decorating scheme was done in all black and green, with bits of sliver everywhere. It was a stunning, somber room. He gazed around, reminded of his home, which was done in all red and black. Draco led him to the chambers that were to be his, opening the door for him and showing him where the bathroom and closet were. All his things were already there, neatly laid out and put away.
\"Thank you, Draco. You were kind to me today. Perhaps we will be friends?\" Lucisu extended his left hand to the other boy, as if to shake hands.
\"Sure, I think we could be friends.\" Before Draco could grasp his hand, Lucius wrapped his palm around draco\'s forearm, just beloow the elbow. It was an old style of showing commradre between wizards, nearly forgotten except among the oldest of families. His use of it showed his lineage was pureblood and old as can be.
\"Excellent. I think we will have fun with each other, mo càirdean.\"
Its a good thing Draco didn\'t catch the innuendo, or he would have run screaming.
