Chapter 3 - Changes

Remus was released from St Mungo’s the next morning. Accompanied by Severus, Remus escorted Harry to retrieve his belongings from the Dursley’s.
When Remus knocked on the door it was answered by Vernon Dursley who, upon seeing Harry, slammed the door in their faces.

“I’m not having him back here in this house. Ever!” Vernon yelled through the door.
“I don’t intend to leave him with a good for nothing muggle like you,” Remus yelled back, then looking around and seeing faces appearing at windows he yelled, “We just come to get his stuff and if you don’t oblige and let us in. I’ll break down that bloody door.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Vernon yelled back.
“The hell I wouldn’t. I’ve had enough of how you treat Harry. Now let us in to get his belongings,” Remus yelled.
“Fine,” Vernon said yanking open the door and letting them in the house.

Harry ran up the stairs and started to collect his stuff.

“This isn’t even fit for that oath Hagrid and you let them get away with that,” Severus said walking in the bedroom door.
“What was I supposed to do?” Harry asked looking at Severus, “I didn’t even know I was a wizard until I got my letter.”

Severus watched as Harry threw everything into his trunk then slammed it shut. Reaching for his wand Severus shrunk it and Harry put it in his pocket smiling a thanks at Severus.

“Let’s get out of here. Being near muggle’s is making me feel sick,” Severus said.
“Right behind you,” Harry said grabbing Hedwig’s cage.

Hedwig gave a soft hoot in excitement.
Walking downstairs Harry and Severus snickered upon finding that Remus had backed Vernon into a corner and was giving him what for.

“Good old mother hen,” Severus said smirking.
“Don’t let him hear you say that,” Harry said.
“I don’t plan to,” Severus said, “We’re done Remus.”
“Don’t expect Harry back at the end of the school year,” Remus said as he exited it behind Harry and Severus and shut the door with a slam finalizing the statement.
“You do realize you have no way to legally back up that statement,” Severus said.
“I have a few ideas on how I can,” Remus said smiling at Harry.

Remus couldn’t explain how good it had felt to give Dursley a piece of his mind.
They apparated back to Grimmauld Place where they spent the rest of the holidays.

“What else do you need Harry?” Remus asked as the two of them strolled down Diagon Alley.

It was the day before school started again. Harry and Remus were getting what Harry needed for school that year.

“Just my books. Charms for the Advanced by Eve Remore, Advanced Potions by Nirehtyls Razalas, Defence Against the Dark Arts: A Must Have by Rodniffyrg Cirdog, Advanced Transfigurations by Heidi Hoe, Let’s Learn Muggling: All You Need to Know by Samantha Muggle and All About the World’s Creatures by Madame Liza Baloney,” Harry said the look on his face saying what he thought about some of the authors names.
“Well lets get to it,” Remus said

While they were getting the books Harry looked sick, the books were huge.

“Don’t worry Harry they’re to do you for the last two years of school,” Remus said patting Harry on the back,
Harry sighed in relief and said, “I’m glad.”
“Look I have to find a book. Are you right to say here?” Remus asked.
“Yes I’ll be fine,” Harry replied.

Remus walked towards the back of the store in search of the book.

“Well, well. If it isn’t the Gryffindor Golden Boy,” a female voice said from behind him.

Harry turned around to find Pansy Parkinson standing there a smirk on her face and arms folded across her chest.

“Draco come and have a look who I’ve found,” Pansy called.
“Look Pansy I really couldn’t care less,” Draco said emerging from behind a shelf Blaise Zabini right behind him.
“But look. It’s Potter,” Pansy said thinking she’d done something spectacular by finding him

Harry couldn’t help but groan at her complete idiocy.

“Hello Potter. Enjoying yourself,” Draco said simply.
“If you’ve seen the size of our books this year then your asking the wrong question,” Harry said before thinking.
Draco looked shocked at Harry’s friendliness before saying, “ I haven’t. Are they that bad?”
“Well they’re supposed to do two years but they’re still huge,” Harry said.
“Harry I found it. You ready to go?” Remus asked walking up to the group, “Hello Mr. Malfoy, Mr. Zabini, and Miss Parkinson are you enjoying yourself?”
“Very much thank you,” Blaise said.
“I heard you’re again our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, for this year,” Draco said.
“That’s right,” Remus said smiling.

Draco just nodded his head in acceptance.

“Well I’m afraid we have to get going,” Remus said, “Come on Harry.”
“See you at school Malfoy, Zabini,” Harry said completely ignoring Pansy.

When Harry and Remus had left Blaise turned to Draco.

“You just had a friendly conversation with Potter,” Blaise stated a little shocked.
“Yeah I did,” Draco said, “Severus said that Harry would lay off about father if I would lay off about his.”
“What was your Godfather doing talking to Potter. The Dark Lord wouldn’t be happy if he heard,” Pansy said.
“My godfather was protecting my feelings. My fathers imprisonment is still a little painful to talk about,” Draco snapped.
Pansy took a step backwards, “I’m sorry Draco.”

Draco just glared at Pansy and went to purchase his school books.
