Chapter 3: The night before Class.
Harry and Lucius:
Lying curled into each other almost asleep on their bed. It was heaven for them, the sweat cooling on their skin. The fluids of their lovemaking cleaned of, their reunion celebrated as only lovers would.
Harry smiled gently to himself. To be back in Lucius arms filled him with a deep seated joy. His mind stilled and he became peaceful and calm. The flow of energy and emotion was extraordinary.
Lucius did not know what had happened that night when they had first made love. That night that had bound them closer together then any marriage bond ever could. They were one soul in two bodies. That fact would have scared him, had it not been for the deep seated sense of right that flower true him now. He knows that he and Harry were forever now; there were no doubts or concerns.
Harry felt himself slowly drift to sleep. Snuggling closer to his lover he kisses the bare chest of the man holding him.
“Good night my love… “He whispers, before his eyes fall shut.
Lucius felt he kiss, and a smile softened those often to harsh lips. His steel grey eyes soften by sleep as he relaxes into the pillows.
“Good night my soul,” is the last thing he says before his eyes close completely in sleep.

Severus:
He sat looking out the only window in his rooms; it was hidden in his bedroom. He was seated in a large, very comfortable wingback chair. He was wrapped in a thick blanket, and a fire was burning in the small fireplace he had in his bedroom. At the side table stood a half drunken glass of scotch, in his knee was a large potions tomb.
He could not bring himself to sleep. The ache in his heart was even greater tonight. She had looked so beautiful at the feast that evening. He closed his eyes with a pained look on his face. Taking the glass from the table he swept it in one go, before standing, and heading to bed, whispering into the room.
“Classes will not teach themselves.”

Hermione:
Books seemed to be her constant companion. Seated on her bed in the head-girls’ bedroom, a large tomb on her lap, she was in her element. The old scriptures in Latin, was easy for her to read. Were most people would see gibberish , she saw potions instructions.
There were few people with her type of brilliant and logical mind. She could really only think of 3 people at this school. The headmaster, Draco Malfoy , and Professor Snape.
She smiled at the thought. She and professor Snape had butted heads more then ones over the years. But they respected each other and he had promised her an apprenticeship in potions. It had taken a lot of negotiation, but come tomorrow evening she would test out of his class and if she passed, she would become his apprentice in the art of potions making.
She could not wait.

Ginny:
To fall asleep in a crowded dormitory after sleeping alone most of the summer was hard. She turned around in her bed burrowing her face in the pillow. Its smell was so familiar even after the house elves had cleaned it over the summer. It smelled faintly of her perfume, as well as what ever the house elves used to clean it over the summer.
She smiled widely; it was great to be back at Hogwarts after the summer. Even though she got homesick at times, Hogwarts was a second home to her.
She missed one ting about this summer though, Remus. Because he got hurt badly during a mission he had been sent to the Burrow to recuperate. And because Ginny was a passable enough nurse and the only Weasley who was home most of the time, Ron not really counting, she had been assigned nurses’ duties. Not that she minded, she liked Remus, she more then liked the werewolf. He was to put it mildly, the man of her young dreams.

Remus:
He stared at the starless sky. It was September first. The kids would be sound asleep in their beds, safe at Hogwarts. Well as safe they would ever be with Voldemort out running about. Harry and Ron, Hermione and even Draco, and of course Ginny, the girl had become a good friend over the summer. A bit more then a friend, he must admit. He had found her to be a young woman with a wicked sense of humour and a pushy attitude. He loved the first and didn’t really mind the second.
He rolled over in his bedroll, lying down on his side, now looking into a roaring fire. He was in the Hungarian mountain some-were hiding from Voldemorts operatives. While trying to recover an artefact before they did. At the fireside lay Bill Weasley and Tonks. Both sound asleep. But for some reason he could not find the peace to sleep. He wondered idly if he was the only one...
***
Draco:
To find peace among the snakes, well was not easy even for a snake itself. Draco knew how it felt. But he was in the head-boys bedroom now, and that meant that he was alone. A locked and warded, and password protected door between him and the others. He smiled to himself. Maybe now he could get some sleep. Closing his eyes, he fell in to a restless dream.
He was running towards someone. A dark figure that had haunted his dreams sense 5th year. He knew he had to get to that person to be whole, to be free of this oppressive ache in his chest.
He never seemed to catch up to the man, even though over the years he had gotten closer.
Still Draco slept.

Albus Dumbledore:
An old man, when had he become an old man? Oh he knew that the number on is birth records told people he was old with a capital O. But he had never felt old. But now he felt old, but at the same time he felt lighter. He had spoken at length with Ino and Etro, finding comfort in the two powerful beings. They had given their word that they would watch over some of his charges. He gave a great sigh and sank deeper down into the fluffy chair that he was seated on.
He felt divided between the school and the order. His thought shattered. Minerva had taken up a lot of the work around the school to leave him time to focus on the order. Sleep was a fleeting, but come the hours of dawn he knew he would sleep.
He had before…
***
Ino and Etro:
The newest addition to the staff did not sleep that night. Well elves did not sleep as it was, but they did not rest at all either. They walked the castle until they stood upon the roof of the highest tower facing the new moon. Etro’s arms were around Ino, the lovers felling the energy of the night.
They had set themselves a mission. To protect Harry, Albus was adamant that, that were their first priority, but Ino knew that the boy would have a better chance if he was taught to protect himself. That would be their secondary mission. She turned her head and smiled at her mate.
“And so the school year begins. I wonder what it will bring.” He looked calmly back at her.
“What ever it will bring, we will face it together.” He kissed her gently on the lips.
