Hitting a Nerve

It took her a while to find the dungeons. By time she had Tirza had calmed down a bit, but it wasn\'t enough to prevent her from confronting Severus. Striding up to the door, which separated her from the infuriating man, she took a deep breath. Feeling like she was starting to back out, she drew her self to full height and banged on the door. No answer. Tirza slammed her fists into the door as hard as she could and waited. This time there was an answer.

\'Perhaps I should get you another way to relieve your stress, Miss Underhill. Or is it one of your annoying habits which causes you to irritate the shit out of me?\' Sneered Severus as he looked down his nose at Tirza. Tirza glared at him in response and pushed her way past him.

\'I\'m not here to discuss our habits Severus\'

\'Then why are you here Miss Underhill?\' Severus asked, speaking her name as if she was a disease.

\'I wanted to ask you a few things - Mr Snape\' Tirza replied dryly.

The tone in Tirza\'s voice surprised Severus. No one bothered to come down to his dungeons for any reason, never mind to confront him or ask him any thing. Tirza had him intrigued. He motioned for her to sit, but she declined.

\'I wondered Severus - what’s it like to be victimised when you were at school?\' Tirza uttered, with a smirk across her face.

\'OUT!\' Severus shouted at her, but she didn\'t move.

\'GET OUT!\' Still Tirza didn\'t budge. Severus walked over to her and grabbed her by the wrists, ready to physically throw her out. Tirza response was to grin fiendishly at him.

\'Tell me Severus, what does it feel like?\' She whispered

‘you want to know? Really want to know?\' He growled at her, not releasing her from his grasp. She nodded and looked him square in the eyes.

\'Fine! I\'ll tell you\' Severus said calmly. He finally let go of Tirza\'s wrists, neither of them moved away.

\'It\'s hard. Just trying to get on with your own business, except you can\'t. People don\'t let you. Every day you wake up, not wanting to be here. Where they can get at you. Being alone was and still is the only escape. After time it eats away at you, so you search for a way out. You wouldn\'t understand. You being Miss Perfect and all\' Still speaking calmly, Severus went on. He stood there with his back turned to Tirza.

\'I\'m not perfect. I don\'t pretend to be. But I do understand\' Tirza said, with a hint of defiance in her voice. Severus snorted at her.

\'Maybe I didn\'t experience it, but I can still see. You and Malfoy Jnr are creating your own version of yourself. Tirza said almost angrily as she made to walk out the door. Severus turned round just in time to see her face. She looked at him.

\'Longbottom feels like you used to, it\'s all at the hands of you, Malfoy the Slytherin Prince and his cronies\'

Severus stood staring at the door long after she had left. She had hit a nerve. It annoyed him.

The morning after Tirza\'s visit, Severus was still tired due to lack of sleep. Her tirade brought back many a memories. For once in his life, he was dreading facing the class he was supposed to teach.

How was he supposed to look at Longbottom, without seeing his younger self in him? The thought made him sick to the stomach.

Breakfast had begun and hadn\'t got off to the best of starts. He had Minerva glaring at him as soon as he walked into the great hall. He soon put her off by fixing his best scowl on his face. Then he had Tirza eyeing his every move. Damn he found that annoying. His trademark scowl scared everyone, except three people. They happened to be Albus, the Dark Lord and her. He seemed to have pissed her off royally. Though he wasn\'t sure why. Minerva he understood. He\'d upset one of her cubs and had the know-it-all Granger tell her everything, but Tirza? It didn\'t figure.

Eventually she took her gaze off him, this allowed him time to take in her appearance. She wasn\'t a stunner; she was pretty average looking. But she had a certain air about her. He couldn\'t quite put his finger on it, so he pondered some more. He then turned to look at Remus, who in turn was also watching Tirza. Severus suddenly wondered if anything at all was going on between them. Remus was gazing at her an awful lot \'So am I, you dolt\' Thought Severus. That thought soon snapped him back to reality.

As he looked away, Remus looked up and made eye contact. He then blushed and stared at his plate. Severus smirked at his colleague’s discomfort. After breakfast finished, the staff and students a like made way to their classes.
