Chapter 3

Last Chapter:

‘Man I am losing my mind. Do this do that, don’t do this don’t do that. I am so tired of it all. It would be so easy just to say fuck it and just leave or something. Anything. But no, the fate of the wizarding world is in my hands. “And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.” But what does that really mean? If I kill him then I can go about living life? I don’tnk snk so. I am the savior of the wizarding world.’ He spat the word ‘savior’ in his mind. ‘At least that’s what they think. Damn them all for putting all there lives in the hands of one teenage boy. But I am an adult, not a teenager. I have seen far too many things in my life to be a teenager. I had no childhood, not one that I would care to remember anyway. I just wish it would end.’ He sighed heavily. ‘At this time I really don’t care how it ends.’ He kept on working on his chores while he wondered about his fate...

He worked late into the night, something his Aunt and Uncle never let him do before. He was glad for it though because it let him think things out in his mind. He had come to terms with the death of his godfather. Well, as much as one sad teenage wizard can while missing a member of his own family.

Harry had gone through all the people who he had blamed for Sirius’s death while he did his work. He blamed Snape for not teaching him how to block his mind, but he really could not blame the guy for not doing so. After all, he had done something terrible, looking into Snape’s Pensive. So in the end it was not Snape’s fault. Harry blamed Dumbledore a little too. Yes, the old man meant well by trying to let him have somewhat of a normal childhood but keeping things from Harry was not helping one bit. If Dumbledore would have told him about the prophecy and Voldemort’s ability to send him fake visions, he would have tried harder to learn. Then, Harry blamed himself. If he had not gone to the Ministry then Sirius would still be with him today. Hermione had told him outright that he had a hero complex, always needing to save someone from something. But who was going to save him? Hermione and Ron where his best friends but he did not want to pull them in any father than they already were. They could get hurt just by being his friends and he had to stop that.

So here he was in his room at two in the morning, promising himself that he would push away everyone he cared about. He would throw himself into his school work and find every curse and hex that might help him to kill Voldemort once and for all. Of course, that meant he needed to ask Snape to teach him again and God knows he really didn’t want to do that. But if it would help him to be free, to no longer need to run and hide from the psycho who was determined to kill him, he would do it.

He needed one last favor from his friends before he would push them away so he got out a piece of parchment and a quill and started writing to Hermione.

Hermione,

I was wondering if you could get me some books of hexes and curses, as many good ones as you can find. I also need a book on Occlumency. I am going to send word to Gringotts. They will have money for you so you can buy all the books I am in need of, the cost does not matter. Also, do you think you could get me the school books that we need? I need them as soon as you can get them. Yes I have started on my summer homework.

Harry

The starting on his homework bit was a lie but it would make her happy and more agreeable about going and getting the things he needed. Now all he had to do was wait.

------

A week later he received the books he had requested, ten of them. He smiled and laughed to himself. Leave it to Hermione to buy out the book store. He looked through the books to see what he had.

‘202 Quick Hexes, Curses, and Jinxes’ by Leo Tort

‘Guide to Dueling and Handy Hexes’ by Theo Bod

‘Self Protection and Blocking Spells’ by Hans Luth

‘Wandless and Voiceless Magic’ by Sten Not

‘Book of Cruses and How to Counter Them’ by Toly Smat

‘Every Thing a Great Auror Needs to Know’ by Mad-Eye Moody

Harry laughed at the last one and thought it would be an interesting book to read. There were four books left though three of them did not look so great. They looked very old and the one on top had a stain that looked a little like dried blood. The two underneath did not look much better. Harry assumed they were books on the Dark Arts. It only made sense for him to know the Dark Arts, as they were going to be used against him and he would need to know how to fight them. Harry wondered how Hermione had gotten the store clerk to sell them to her.

‘Deadly Curses: When and How to Use Them’ by Sliver Slytherin

‘The Dark Arts Guide to Spell Casting’ by Severus Snape

He thought it was fitting that one of his books would be by that git. The last of the Dark Arts Books took him by surprise. He had to do a double take. At first glance the writing did not appear to be in English but when he looked again, it transformed to English right before his eyes.

‘Parseltongue Spells’ by Salazar Slytherin

Harry smiled at that, knowing he had a very rare book in his hands. This was going to better then he thought. The final book was ‘The Basics of Occlumency’ by Albus Dumbledore. He picked up the Occlumency book, flipped to the first chapter and began to read.

A/N: Please tell me what you think. You would not believe how hard it was to make up book names.. took forever.
