are NOT
together (yet).  Snape is not with anyone and there is no
indication that
Draco and Lucius have anything but a father/son relationship.  Oh
Du
Dumbledore and McGonagall are not together either.  Will have het

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">It was
hours since Harry’s emotional
revelations and Draco lay awake in the Slytherin dorms, staring up at
the green
canopy above him.  He hadn’t undressed
yet and if anyone had of come in, he would have had a hard time
explaining the
tear stains on his black silk shirt.
Draco had held the black haired boy while he cried.
Cried for what he had to become, for what he
had to do and, Draco suspected, what everyone else would have to do in
the
upcoming war.  Harry’s insight into the
Slytherin/Gryffindor rivalry had shaken him, although he was loath to
admit
it.  He had never really thought about
what it meant for them and while he was aware that the
rivalry dated back to the founders, until Harry had told him the story,
he had
never really thought about it.  Now he
had to.  When he had offered his hand in
friendship to the other boy, he had done so believing that he would
only have
to deal with his father and Voldemort.
Now he began to realise, it was much bigger then that.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">He
rolled onto his side and sighed.  It was
dark outside, if he didn’t move; he
would have to explain the tearstains after all.
He rolled off of the bed and slowly began to unbutton his shirt
before
dropping it onto the floor.  His trousers
quickly followed, then his socks and boxers.
He picked up the black satin bottoms and put them on, before
picking up
his clothes and putting them for washing.
Then he made his way to the bathroom.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">When he
got back, Crabbe and Goyle had
appeared.  They were speaking quietly and
stopped when he entered.  “What?” he
asked.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Nothing.” style="">
He raised an eyebrow at the answer and waited.
Both the other boys started shifting from foot
to foot then Crabbe burst out, “It’s Zabini.
The Dark Lord thinks he’s not loyal.
We got ordered to watch him.”
Draco nodded.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Is
anyone else under supervision?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Look
it’s nothing serious…”  Goyle began before
trailing off.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Me
then?”
Draco sighed and shook his head, “I knew I shouldn’t have yelled
at my
father like that.  I should have guessed
he’s do this.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“What?” style="">
Draco raised a calculating eyebrow at the pair and then
explained,

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Before
I came back to school this year, I
got into a… an argument with my father about joining the Dark Lord. style="">  I felt I would be more use in Hogwarts while
he believed I should quit and join the Dark Lord immediately.” style="">  Draco shrugged his shoulders and made his way
over to his bed, “We started yelling and he hit me with crusio. style="">  I told him that if
he continued to behave like that I might have to change sides. style="">  I didn’t mean it and he knew I didn’t mean
it.  He just told the Dark Lord to annoy
me.”  The two bigger boys nodded their
heads in understanding.  Crabbe and Goyle
were not as thick as most people thought, but they weren’t exactly up
to
Ganger’s standard, more like the Weasel’s.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">The
next morning, winter decided to make its
presence felt with a thin layer of ice over the grounds.
Draco groaned.  Icy cold, Monday
mornings he could do
without.  Goyle was waiting for him. But
Crabbe was nowhere to be seen.  He looked
at the goon questioningly.  Goyle
shrugged, “He’s reporting.”  Draco rolled
his eyes and they left the dorm, but not before Draco noticed that
Zabini had
already left.  He had gotten back after
Draco was asleep and gone before he was up.
Interesting, he’s usually the last
one out of the dorms in the morning.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Breakfast
was its usual Monday morning
depressive and Draco was only too glad to get to first class. style="">  It helped that it was History of Magic which
he could sleep though.  When he got
there, only Zabini had gotten there ahead of him.  He
grinned and choose
the seat behind him.  The other students
began to file in after a few minutes.
Harry and Granger went immediately to the back of the room. style="">  The class began.  Draco
struggled to stay awake.  This was his only
chance to talk to Zabini
with no one noticing.  He scribbled a
note and banished it to Zabini’s desk with a quick spell.
The other boy sat up straighter as he read
the note, ‘Zabini, we need to talk.  Meet
me in the Charms classroom at lunch.
Malfoy’.  Zabini crumpled the note
and nodded slightly.  Draco smiled.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Herbology
and Potions passed quickly.  Longbottom
didn’t even manage to blow up his
caldron.  Zabini was getting
progressively more and more upset as the day continued.
In Potions, Harry had sent Draco a confused
look as he kept an eye on the other Slytherin, but Draco had waved him
off.  Lunch came and Draco made his way
quickly to the empty classroom.  A few
minutes later ni ani appeared.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Draco
leaned against the desk and cast a
silencing charm and a locking charm on the door.  Zabini
looked worried.  “Blaise, Blaise, Blaise. style="">  You know the Dark Lord is on to you. style="">  He knows you’ve changed sides.”
Zabini went very pale,

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I…I… I
haven’t b…”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Really? style="">
That’s not what I was told.”
Zabini collapsed against a desk and closed his eyes.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Are
you to kill me then?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Not my
orders.”  Zabini looked up in surprise. style="">  If the Dark Lord knew of his betrayal, why
was Draco not already casting the Killing Curse on him?
He watched in shock as Draco pulled out his
wand and then put it down on the desk.
He pushed it towards the other boy.
“I just want to know why.  I’ll
even let you obliviate me afterwards
if you want.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“What?” style="">
Draco smiled at the shock on the other boy’s face.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“The
quen wan was ‘Why’, Blaise.  Just tell me. style="">
Then you can even erase my memory.
All I ask is a chance to be heard after you’re finished.” style="">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Blaise
sat down and then picked up Draco’s
wand.  “My father was a Death Eater. style="">  He was killed a few weeks ago… by You Know
Who.  There wasn’t a reason.
He hadn’t done anything wrong.  He
just happened to be there when You Know
Who decided to indulge in a little murder.”
Blaise laughed harshly before continuing, “So there I was, a
week away
from getting the Dark Mark and I see my father, my sponsor
killed by the person I was about to swear my life to.”
He fed wed with the wand a bit, not looking
at Draco as he spoke.  Draco stayed
silent.  “It got me thinking.
If You Know Who would kill one of his most
loyal Death Eaters just because he felt like it, what would stop him
turning on
all of us once he’s got what he wants?  class="GramE">I haven’t really changed sides… not yet anyway. style="">  I don’t want to serve a bunch of do-gooders
who don’t have the balls to do what needs doing.  I
just… don’t want to serve HIM anymore.
All that pureblood nonsense and no one has
ever questioned the fact that he’s a half-blood.”  He
leaned back and looked at Draco, who had
moved and sat down, “I can’t give you a better reason then that. style="">  I don’t want to be a hypocrite and I don’t
want to be a slave to a madman.”  Draco
nodded, but didn’t say anything for a moment.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I
can’t say they aren’t do-gooders.  But
Potter… he’ll do what it takes to
win.”  Blaise snorted at the reply.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Yeah,
the Gryffindor Golden Boy?  I’d like to see
him cast a dark curse.”  Draco cocked his
head and smiled.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“He’s
getting quite good at them.  Particularly Helseius.” style="">  Zabini stared at him in shock and Draco
grinned.  “He approached me at the start
of the year.  Made me an offer I couldn’t
refuse.  I’ve been training him since
then.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“If the
Dark Lord finds out…”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“But he
won’t, will he?  At
least, not from you?” Draco pinned the
darker boy with a stare that could freak out a snake and waited. style="">  Zabini didn’t break eye contact

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“No. style="">
Not from me.”  Draco nodded and
held out his hand for his wand.  Blaise
handed it back, “Why are you telling me?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Because
I’m going to offer you a chance to
get out.  To be free of Voldemort, but
not serve a bunch of ‘do-gooders’ at the same time.”
Draco leaned his chair back on two legs, and
then he smiled.  “Harry and I are both
standing against Voldemort, but we’re willing to admit that the
Ministry is
going about it the wrong way.  We’re
going to start putting a…, “he laughed, “It won’t be an army as such,
just a
team of Witches and Wizards that will stand with Potter, not Dumbledore. style="">  We’ll fight Voldemort with his own tactics
and force him to target us, not innocent civilians.”
He dropped the chair back to the ground.  Then
he stood up.  “Think about it.
If you decide you want in, go to the girl’s
bathroom on the third floor and ask Moaning Myrtle to let me and Harry
know.  Do you want to erase my memory?” style="">  Blaise shook his head and watched as the
Slytherin Ice Prince, the boy most thought would be Voldemort successor
walked
out the door.  “Well fuck me.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">**************************************

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Draco
was lying on one of the couches in the
Chamber of Secrets, flicking through a book on the founders and
absently
watching as Harry threw curses at the targets.
He glanced up as Harry let out a stream of curses.
“What?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I
still can’t get this to work.”  Draco
sighed and stood up, making his way
over to the other boy, who was glaring at the target like it was
purposely not
falling down.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Try it
again.”  Harry raised his wand

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Shataris!” style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;"> style="">  The target stubbornly stayed exactly the
same.  Draco sighed and rubbed his
forehead.  He knew why Harry couldn’t get
the curse to work.  He just wasn’t sure
what to do about it.  “Harry, you have to
want the spell to work.  You’re going to
have to work on that bit.  If you don’t
want the spell to hurt someone it won’t.”
Harry sighed and said

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Yeah,
I know, but that’s the hard bit.  I don’t
really want to hurt anyone.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Try to
imagine its Voldemort then.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Okay.” style="">
Harry raised his wand and yelled the spell again, all the time
imagining
Voldemort’s sneering face on the target.
It blew to pieces and a rush of raw power ran through Harry’s
body.  Pleasure and pain mixed together. style="">  He gasped and glared at Draco.
“What was that?”  Draco grinned,

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“It’s
called the Dark Life.  You start to feel it
after you’ve used the Dark
Arts for a while.  The pain is to remind
you that you’re hurting someone.  The
pleasure is to remind you of the power you’re harnessing.”
Draco frowned, “At least that’s how it was
explained to me.  You get used to it
after a while.”  Harry nodded and turned
back to the targets.  He yelled every
curse he had learned in the last three months one after the other. style="">  The flashes of light hit the targets,
blowing, freezing and burning them.  All
the while the Dark Life ran through him and Draco watched.

s="fo="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">**************************************

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Two
days later Blaise looked around once
more to make sure no one was watching and then slid as quietly as
possible into
the girl’s bathroom.  The door closed
behind him and he looked around.  Suddenly,
one of the stall doors banged open and a ghostly figure emerged. style="">  It was a young girl, dressed in old fashioned
robes and with large glasses on her face.
Blaise gulped, she was possibly the most unfortunate girl he had
ever seen
in the looks department.  “What are you
doing in here?  This is the girl's
bathroom.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Are
you Myrtle?” he asked.  The ghost looked at
him strangely for a
second and then nodded.  “Do you know who
Draco Malfoy is?”  Again the ghost
nodded.  “Can you give him a message for
me?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Why
should I?”  Blaise was taken aback. style="">  He hadn’t expected the ghost to question
him.  For a second he didn’t know what to
say.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“He
told me to give the message to you and
you’d pass it on.” He tried.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Oh,
one of those messages?  Give it to me.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I’m
in.”
The girl frowned and shook her head.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“That
wasn’t what I was told would be the
message.”  Blaise was at a loss. style="">  He looked at the ghost desperately and the
girl sighed, “I’ll assume ‘I’m in’ means ‘yes’, shall I?
And go tell them that?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Okay”,
Blaise hesitated and then asked,
“Them?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“What’s
you’re name by the way?” she asked,
ignoring his question.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Blaise
Zabini.” He replied and tried again,
“Them?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Well
of course ‘Them’.  There are two of them
you know.  I don’t think they’ve done
anything that
would qualify the use of a singular pronoun for them, although if they
did…”
she got a dreamy look on her face for a second and then snapped back to
the
present.  “Wait here.” Then she was
gone.  Blaise looked around in shock for
a second before he shocked brain put it together.  style="">Draco
must be with Potter… Eeeww!

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">**************************************

style="font-size: 14lineline-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Harry
had taken a break form the potion he
was prepg ang and was sprawled out across from Draco when Myrtle
appeared.  Neither boy looked too surprised
to see
her.  Draco looked up and smiled. style="">  “He’s in then I take it?”
The ghost nodded and then giggled.  “He’s
cute.
Not as cute as you too, but still cute.”
Harry and Draco both rolled their eyes.
“I want to see.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“You
watched yesterday.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I want
to watch again.  I hate this place, so it’s
the least you can
do.”  Harry sighed and got up, walked
over to Draco and pulled the other boy to his feet.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Come
on.
The quicker we do this the better.”
Draco nodded and grabbed the other boy around the waist, slowly
pulling
him in.  Harry offered no resistance as
he was pulled flush up against the other boy’s body.
He tilted his head up and brought his lips to
Draco’s.  The blonde boy tightened his
hold and began to printointo the kiss, running his tongue along Harry’s
lips,
asking permission to enter.  Harry opened
his mouth and let Draco’s tongue slid in.
He sucked gently at it for a moment and then the dark haired boy
brought
his arms up around Draco’s shoulders, sliding one of them into the
white blonde
hair to get a better grip.  Harry chased
Draco’s tongue back into his mouth and began to leisurely explore it as
one of
the blonde’s hands slid down over his ass, cupping the tight cheeks and
feeling
them clench in response.  Draco took
control of the kiss back, delving further into Harry’s mouth and
coaxing his
tongue to duel.  A few moments later they
pulled away from each other, both breathing harshly.
Draco didn’t let go of Harry’s ass though and
Harry kept his grip on the blonde hair.
They stayed like that until they had their breathing back to
normal and
then Draco turned and raised an eyebrow at Myrtle.
The ghost, whose chest was rising and falling
quite fast nodded and asked, “Will I tell him to wait or do you want to
finish
this?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;"ll
ll
him to wait.”  Draco responded, letting
Harry go.  The ghost disappeared up through
the
ceiling.  Harry and Draco looked at each
other and then quickly broke completely apart.n stn style="">
“I’ll go and open the door.”
Harry said.  He grabbed one of the
brooms from the corner and quickly walked away.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Draco
fell back onto the couch and ran a
hand over his face.  He could still feel
the phantom lips on his.  Still feel
Harry’s hands in his hair and tongue in his mouth.
Huld uld still taste him on his lips.  He
let out a groan and sat up.  They had never
talked about a physical
relationship.  In fact up until Harry’s
outburst on Sunday they had never talked about feelings at all. style="">  Draco knew that Harry, like himself was
bisexual and knew from a combination of locker room talk and rumours
that if
they got together, he would not be Harry’s first or even third male
lover.  No the real issue was that neither
wanted to
get with the other.  Despite the
friendship that had developed, matured and finally been acknowledged,
neither
wanted to lose the rivalry that had kept them going for five years, so
they had
both stayed away from each other.  It was
a distance tMyrtMyrtle seemed determined to destroy.
The payment for her help and silence was
relatively cheap.  They just had to put
on a show.  They had negotiated to the
point where they had to touch skin, but didn’t have to go below the
waist.  They had to take their shirt off
and kiss,
but that was all.  She had originally
wanted to watch them have full on sex, but Harry had vetoed that idea
immediately.  At the time Draco had been
relieved; now he was wondering if Harry simply hadn’t wanted to have
sex with
him.

hadn’t known quite what to expect
when Myrtle reappeared looking quite flushed (something Blaise thought
was
quite impressive for a ghost) and told him to wait.
He found out when one of the sinks suddenly
gave a groan and sank into the floor, showing quite a big hole in the
wall.  Harry Potter was leaning against
the wall on the other side, holding a broom.
“Glad you decided to come… Blaise.”
The dark skinned boy just nodded.
Harry handed him the broom and said, “Follow me.”  Then,
to Blaise’s complete surprise, he
transformed into a style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Phoenix style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;"> and
began to fly
down the tunnel.  Blaise quickly mounted
the broom and followed.  They flew for
about ten minutes before they burst into a large circular chamber. style="">  Blaise looked around more shocked then he
thought possible as he landed.  One of
the walls was covered in targets, quite a few of which had been blown
to
pieces.  The other side was lined with
bookcases.  He could just make out a
potions lab in the
corner behind the bookshelves.  Draco was
sprawled across a couch in the centre on an island surrounded by water. style="">  The river ran completely around the middle
bit of land where there was also a second couch and a couple of tables. style="">  He realised they must jump the river to get
to the targets or bookshelves.  It wasn’t
that wide, but it did look cold.
Directly in front of him was a huge statue of a man with a long
beard
and longer hair.  He was dressed in ancient
robes and had sandals on his feet.  With
a jolt of realization, Blaise looked around the place he was sure was
the
Chamber of Secrets.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

e="fe="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Potter
had changed back into human form and
had flopped down across from Draco who was watching him with sardonic
amusement
all over his face.  “Like what we done
with the place?” he asked, “I was tempted to leave it as it was when we
first
arrived, but dead snakes is so sixteen years ago.”
Blaise snorted and looked around again as he
came to stand on from of the couch.  “Is
this the Chamber of Secrets?”  It was an
almost reverent whisper when it let his lips.
Harry snorted behind him.  Draco
nodded and moved up so Blaise could sit beside him.
“How many know about this plan of yours?” he
asked as he sat down.  Harry shrugged and
then grinned.  “Hermione kinda
knows.&"">  She has an idea at least, but she
doesn’t know all the details.  Draco
knows almost everything and I don’t know how much he’s told you.” style="">  Blaise looked at them both.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“He
told me you were planning to form some
kind of team… to fight the Dark Lord.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">Harry
nodded and replied, “That’s the
general idea.  Last time round, the
aurors were given permission to use the Unforgivable Curses in extreme
circumstances, but they weren’t allowed use the Dark Arts, so to speak. style="">  The team I want to form will.
The plan is to take Voldemort’s methods and
shove them in his face.” he grinned at Blaise’s wince before
continuing, “We’re
not going to go around advocating wholesale slaughter, but we will be
fighting
with the express purpose of forcing Voldemort to target us.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“That’s
the risky part, “Draco continued,
watching Blaise’s reactions, “We’ll be making ourselves targets, taking
the
place of the muggles so to speak.  It’s
not going to be easy or pleasant and most definitely not safe, but
we’ll get
results faster.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“And of
course, because we’ll be using the
Dark Arts, we’re not going to have Ministry support.
Most likely we’ll be labelled a ‘Vigilante
Force’ and we’ll be declared illegal.” Harry broke in.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“That’s
the other risky part.  We’ll be treated
little better then Death
Eaters if we’re caught.” Draco added.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Let me
see if I have this straight, The
Gryffindor Golden Boy called The Boy Who Loved and the Slytherin Ice
Prince,
The dark Lord’s Heir Apparent want to form a vigilante team to fight
the Dark
Lord using the dark Arts even though they know that they’ll be targeted
by everyone on both sides and they want me
to join?”  Blaise looked as amused as
hell.

“Pretty
much” said Draco.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“In a
nutshell, yes” said Harry.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I’m
in.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="text-align: center; line-height: 150%;"> style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">**************************************

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">When
Draco woke up the next morning, he
rolled over with a groan.  Harry, Blaise
and he had stayed up most of the night talking and Draco knew he would
pay for
it today, but it had been worth it.
Blaise was one of the most intelligent of the Slytherins as well
as one
of the most powerful.  The only real
problem was that the dark Lord had both of them under surveillance. style="">   Harry had suggested that Blaise simply
make
his refusal public.  He was sure he could
convince the other houses to look out for him until everythias
as
ready, but
Draco had vetoed the idea.  While he
agreed that the combination of the other houses and the teachers could
probably
keep the young man safe, he also felt it was too big a risk. style="">  Harry accepted this without argument. style="">  Blaise couldn’t help but ask, “Why aren’t you
arguing about it?  I would have thought
you’d be all on for a show of courage.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Do you
know that the hat wanted to put me
in Slytherin?  I can plan and I can
scheme.  I just prefer not to.
What Draco is saying makes sense and he’s
better then me at this kind of thing, so I’m willing to listen.” style="">  Blaise had nodded and they had gone back to
talking, but he didn’t bother to conceal the respect he now felt for
the Boy
Who Lived.  They had also agreed that it
would be best if Blaise and Draco weren’t seen together.
Blaise had wanted to know how he would know
when he had to come to the Chamber.
Harry had just grinned and told him he’d find out.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">After
he had showered and dressed, Draco
made his way to breakfast.  Crabbe and
Goyle had gone ahead to keep an eye on Blaise.
When he entered, he did a quick scan of the room, catching
Harry’s eye
and gave a tiny nod.  He didn’t wait for
a response before going over to his table and sitting down. style="">  He quickly began to eat.  Blaise
was also eating quickly and he caught
the other boy’ eye and sent him a small smile.
Word had begun to circulate throughout Slytherin House that he
was under
surveillance and many of the other Slytherin students had taken to
avoiding the
dark skinned boy.   When they were
finished, they made their way to Care of Magical Creatures. style="">  The class passed relatively quickly and
painlessly, as Draco tried to avoid attracting attention.
He didn’t need any stories of incidents
reaching his father.  Lucius may want him
to leave the school, but he wouldn’t be stupid enough to just come and
try to
take him.  Not when he was a wanted man
anyway, but if Draco caused trouble he might send someone else to do it.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">After
that he had Defence against the Dark
Arts.  The new teacher, Professor Carter,
seemed like a nice enough woman, but she
seemed to
know her stuff.  She also seemed to think
that teaching Slytherins DADA was a waste of time.
Most of the students seemed to agree so they
spent most of the lesson discussing the various penalties for the use
of
different Dark Arts.  The blonde boy
couldn’t help but wonder what she would think if she new that the
Gryffindor
Golden Boy could do most of the spells she was busy trying to convince
them not
to do.  Harry’s issues about hurting
people seemed to have been sorted by the Dark Life.
Draco wasn’t sure why, but he wasn’t willing
to push it.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">The
rest of the day passed quickly and he
couell ell that Blaise was itching to talk to him.
It was until after history of magic that they
got the chance.  Binns had let them out
early and Crabbe and Goyle had gone back to the dorms to get some food. style="">  Draco nodded to Blaise and turned away,
heading towards Myrtle’s bathroom.  The
ghostly girl wasn’t there.  Draco leaned
against the sink that opened into the Chamber and waited.
A few minutes later the other boy walked
in.  “What?  We’re
not meant to be seen together.”  He hissed.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I want
to know what’s going on between you
and Potter.” Blaise said, folding his arms.
Draco looked surprised.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“What
do you mean?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“I’ve
been thinking about it.  Everyone knows
Potter is bi.  Everyone knows you are too
and Myrtle was
making comments last night.  I don’t want
to get involved in this only for you to change sides when you break up
with
your boyfriend.”  Blaise grated out. style="">  Draco looked genuinely surprised and then he
ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
“I’m going to kill her… or I would, if she wasn’t already dead.”
He
amended, “The deal we made with Myrtle was to put on a bit of a show
for
her.  In exchange she keeps her mouth
shut about what we do in the Chamber and helps when we need her to.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“What
do you mean ‘show’.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“We
kiss a bit and grope each other.  What do
you think I mean?  Potter is not my
boyfriend.  I have never slept with and and
frankly I
don’t intend to.  We are, however,
friends.”  Blaise looked unconvinced, but
nodded.

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Are
you changing you’re mind, Blaise?”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“No, I
just wanted to clear that up.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">“Good,
because tomorrow you get to help us
tell Granger and the Weasel.”

style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; color: windowtext;">
