Remus and Sirius entered the Gryffindor tower to see that everyone had left for dinner, well, mostly everyone.

“Hello Remus, Sirius,” came a voice form one of the chairs. They whipped around, still holding hands, to see their friends James and Peter staring at them, looking as if they were going to start laughing.

“Hello,” Sirius said awkwardly, gripping Remus’ hand harder.

“So,” Peter said casually. “What took you so long?”

“Er…” Remus said.

“I think I know why,” James said standing up. “Because our best friends decided to turn into a couple of queers.”

“That’s what I thought,” Peter said standing up also.

Remus and Sirius were waiting for one of them to start laughing or say ‘Just kidding!’ but when they didn’t, they knew that their friends were serious.

“James,” Sirius said, his tone getting angry. “Was that a joke?”

“It depends,” he answered. “Are you two gay or I am just hallucinating?”

“We happen to be together,” Remus spoke.

“Well, isn’t that great,” Peter said disgustedly. “I never thought that we would be friends with queers.”

“WHAT!?” Sirius said enraged.

“You bloody well heard him Padfoot,” James said while looking at his nails.

“What in the fuck are you talking about? This bloody well better be a joke!” Sirius said, letting go of Remus’ hand a walking up to James. Remus was so angry that he didn’t even think of trying to calm his lover down.

James, though talented at magic, was considerably shorter than Sirius and hardly had Sirius’ ability in cursing. His strong point was Transfiguration, which probably wouldn’t be much help.

“How dare you,” Sirius spat at James in an icy tone.

“Well,” James said, backing away slowly as if Sirius was a mad beast after his prey. “It isn’t. We’ll be your friends once you stop being so queer.

Sirius withdrew his wand and pointed it right at James’ heart. Growing up with Dark Wizards, Sirius was fully adept at very dangerous curses. Remus, sensing danger, walked in between the wand and James saying, “Just ignore them. We don’t need them.”

At this point James and Peter left the common room, slamming the portrait door behind them.

“That bastard!” Sirius yelled, taking James’ beloved broom and breaking it. Remus winced at the sight, thinking of James’ reaction. “That fucking bastard!”

“I know,” Remus said soothingly. “Maybe we should see Professor Dumbledore?”

“Yeah, but first I need to go outside and run around,” Sirius said before transforming into a big black dog and running out of the portrait hole when Lily Evans entered.

“What is that? Is that Sirius?” she asked confused, her dark red hair falling into her eyes.

“Yes,” Remus answered simply. “He’s very angry. Actually, murderous some might view it as.”

“Is it because of what James said?” she asked.

“Of course! He hasn’t the right,” Remus said angrily.

“I know. I talked to him and he said that he and Peter overreacted. What did he do?” She said cautiously.

“Ah,” Remus sighed then continued. “He called me and Sirius ‘queers’.”

“Oh God,” Lily said, running over to Remus and hugging him. “He shouldn’t have, I’m so sorry.”

“Me too,” Remus said sadly. “I have to go and find Sirius.” And he left through the portait holet fet feeling so happy anymore.
