I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
3 The Ceremony
***Okay, whew, sorry that took so long. But as I said, I\'ve been having a bit of a time lately, trying to get any stories written. Without the help of my co-writers and just random people, my muse dried up. But with the reaction from The Bath, I have to say, it\'s all going back on track now. Thanks. So here you go. Its the first wedding scene I\'ve ever written, so if you don\'t like it...you can kiss it. By the way, I dont\' own these characters and um, I\'m not making any money. Sorry, you just can\'t sue me, and if you do, I\'ll give you my collection of dust bunnies, cause that\'s the only thing in my bank as of right now.
The Ceremony
Hermione was panicking…again. Of course, for the past two weeks she had done nothing but panic. Harry was fixing his tie. Hermione was throwing her hands around wildly, cursing Draco for punching his best man in the eye. Smirking, Harry turned and grabbed Hermione by the shoulders. “For the love of all that is good and evil, please stop. Everything is going to be fine Hermione. In twenty minutes I’m going to be married to the love of my life. That’s all that matters. Not the flowers. The band. Or even the best man. Just Draco and I.”
Tears slid down her cheeks, and she flung her arms around Harry. “I just…I want this to be perfect for you Harry. You’re my best friend. I’m so thrilled that you’re happy finally. I know I was pretty uptight about Draco at first, but if he’s the one…”
“He is. And has been since day one. It just took me a little while to see it.”
The door opened, and a very rumpled Ron stood there, grinning sheepishly. “Fred and George wanted me to give these to you. As a…wedding present.”
Curious, Harry took the small envelope and pulled out the contents. There, in Harry’s hand, was a snoozing Severus, wng ang a rather attractive blue dress. Harry could hardly hold onto the pictures, he was laughing so hard. He doubled over, dropping on the floor, startling the picture of Severus. “Tell…tell Fred and George thanks.” Harry said, calming the laughter.
Merlin help him, but he was going to start laughing during the ceremony. Every time he would look over at Severus he would remember that blue dress and begin to chuckle. Hermione was laughing now too, and Ron was wiping away tears. The pictures were exactly what Harry needed to ease the tension in his stomach.
They had written their own vows. What if he forgot them in the middle? What if he started crying? Or laughing? Or what if he just vomited all over Draco. Or Dumbledore. What if…no, no this is what was driving Hermione slowly insane. Which is exactly what Harry didn’t want happening. The more anxious he was, then the worse off he would be.
He had to see Draco, at least once more before the ceremony. If only to catch a glimpse of him. That would definitely calm him down. “Be right back guys, I have to use the toilets.”
Leaving the still chuckling couple, Harry slipped out into the hall only to bump into the blond boy he had needed so desperately. “What are you doing out here?” Harry asked, stepping back. “You know we decided we couldn’t see each other before the ceremony.”
“Right, um…I was on my way…oh hell…I had to see you.” Draco pulled Harry into a deep kiss, unable to keep the nervous, happy feeling suppressed any longer.
Pulling away, Harry wrapped his arms around Draco’s middle.es, es, well I was sneaking out to come see you too.”
Chuckling, Draco nipped at Harry’s nose. “Bad boy.”
“You love me though.”
“I do.” Draco tilted his head slightly, as if studying the emerald eyes. “I love you so much it scares me.”
Harry couldn’t hide the blush creeping up his face. “You should leave that until we say our vows. Which, I’m sure, I will forget.”
“I didn’t write any, because I knew whatever I wrote, I would forget.” Draco groaned, ringring Severus’ voice. “Well, the beast is calling. Remind me never to get him drunk again. His hangovers are the worst.”
Placing one last kiss on Harry’s lips, Draco slid from the warm embrace and walked off. Harry couldn’t help but watch him, smiling to himself. He would never get tired of that little swing in his hips when Draco was walking away.
“Harry! Come on, we need to get your entrance. Dumbledore is waiting!” Hermione screeched behind him. Rolling his eyes, he bit his lip and tried to hold back a chuckle. He had definitely been around Draco too much if he was now thinking of Hermione’s voice of a screech.
Walking through the large winding halls of the castle they had rented for the ceremony, Harry was taken away by the beauty of it. There were roses climbing trellises, and mini waterfalls wherever Harry looked. Ivy climbed up disappearing into the ceiling. Even if it was mostly magical it had to be the most amazing thing he had ever seen.
That was, until he saw Draco. Standing under an enchanted star lit sky. Torches and candles throwing soft light on his face. The smile in his eyes and on his lips nearly took Harry’s breath away. Someone pushed him forward, and Harry realized he stopped walking. Stopped breathing all together. He inched his way closer.
There was a twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes. Harry made it up to the platform, how he wasn’t sure. Staring into the bright mercury before him, he could hardly register the words Dumbledore was saying. He was getting married. He was standing here, with the person he loved most in the world, and they were actually getting married.
Thinking back over the years, Harry remembered the hate between them. The odd comfort of rivalry that had settled. He remembered their first kiss. The first time thade ade love. The first time Draco ever told him he was in love.
“Harry?”
Looking away, surprised, Harry heard Dumbledore’s chuckle. “Your vows?”
“Oh, oh yeah. Draco, it doesn’t seem like there’s been a day in my life that you haven’t been there, making it hell or making it heaven. I couldn’t imagine you not being there beside me for the rest of eternity. With these vows I give you more than just my love. I give you my hope. My fears. My laughter and my sadness. I give you my tears. My respect. I give you everything that I am, because I couldn’t be me if it weren’t for you. I love you Draco Malfoy. Forever.”
During the words Harry realized he had begun to cry. Tears were slipping down his cheeks so fast, they pooled at his chin. The glistening in Draco’s eyes caused the lump to rise higher in Harry’s throat.
“I have never met someone like you before Harry James Potter. You’re warm, courageous, smart, funny, and everything I ever wanted to be. You’ve brought out the good that I thought was lost inside of me,” he paused, swallowing hard, “this is much harder than I thought it would be. Harry, I love you. With every fiber of me being. And I promise, from this day until eternity, I will show you in any way I can how deep my love truly goes for you.”
Biting his lip, Harry resisted the urge to pull the blond into his arms and kiss him. “Severus, if we could have the rings.”
Severus pulled the rings out of his pocket and handed them to Dumbledore. They were a simple white gold, etched with the word forever inside the thin bands. He handed one to Harry, then to Draco. “If you will conclude by putting the bands on your fingers.”
Unable to stop the trembling in his hands, Harry held onto Draco’s hand tightly, sliding the ring onto the thin finger. With the weight of his own ring on his finger, Harry looked back up into the silver eyes that was his for the rest of his life. “Now, you may kiss…your husband.”
Grinning, Draco pulled Harry to him, wrapping his arms around his neck possessively. Their lips touched, and Harry was lost.
***Okay, R/R, please, you know the drill. If my muse doesn\'t dry up too incredibly quick, I might just get more on here, you know, the reception, the honey moon *wink* Anyway, hope you enjoyed, please let me know.
