3!!! YAY!!!
*heh, becase Draco\'s POV was longer than usual, I decided to use just this one for chapter 3...I like doing a little at a time, cause I don\'t know where the crap it\'s going...anyway, thanks for all my reviews...they\'re making me feel much much better. Oh, and for thwho who are reading just for the smut...it won\'t come until chapter six...(Told you I was a tease!)
When I woke Harry was just pulling into a bed and breakfast. He looked tired. Worn. His bright green eyes dimmed from exhaustion. He must have noticed me staring. Looking over he smiled. “Hope you don’t mind that I stopped. I needed some sleep.”
“I’d rather you slept than get us both killed.”
“You fear for my life as well,” he was teasing me, “now that’s not the Malfoy I remember.”
“You give yourself too much credit. If you were to die, who would drive this contraption?” I wanted to ignore the dip my stomach made when he grinned at me. I was a Malfoy. Malfoy’s hated Potter.
Who was I kidding. I didn’t hate him anymore than I hated myself. He knew it. I could see it in his eyes when he smiled at me. There was a bit of friendship growing between us. I wanted desperately to hold it close to me. Cradle it. “Something the matter Draco?” Harry asked, his hand still stationed on the door knob.
Startled, I didn’t realize I had been staring at him. I shook my head clear and looked away, choosing to ignore his question. “Lets go. A nice warm bed would be nice right about now.”
The little lady behind the counter looked at us oddly when we walked in. No doubt we looked horrid. Harry so tired he could hardly walk straight. I, covered in dust and dirt. She tried a smile. “Good morning gentlemen.”
“Morning. We need two rooms.” Harry pulled out a little plastic card. The woman took it and frowned.
“I’m sorry sir, but we’re booked except the attic. It’s a tight squeeze, but there is a bed and couch.”
He was looking at me again. This time a little spark of mischievousness lit his smile. I pushed the beginnings of unwanted desire away, and smiled back. “I guess we’ll take it.”
He looked back at the lady and signed a little slip of paper. We followed her to the room. “The bathroom is on the second floor in case you wish to,” she glanced at me, “freshen up.”
The door closed and Harry laughed. It was the first time I had ever seen it up close like this. His cheek had the ever so slight dimple. His eyes sparkled like emeralds. I had never seen anything so beautiful. “I think she thought we were lovers.” Harry said between gulps of air.
“Yes, I imagine she did,” I felt the smile on my lips reach my eyes, “especially when you looked at me after she said she only had one room.”
A mock innocence covered his handsome features, andouldouldn’t help but follow in the laughter. How long had it been since I laughed? It seemed never. That I had never truly smiled. Or felt as comfortable as I did now. I looked over at him, and realized everything I was thinking was clearly written on my face. He stopped laughing, and sat down on the bed. “I never thought I’d be sharing a joke with you Draco, let alone a room. I know we’re sworn enemies, but we’re older now. Maybe we should start over.”
I nodded.
Maybe we should.
*I work a 3rd shift job, so maybe I\'ll post more when I get off line. Thanks again for the reviews, I would appreciate more, and if any one has any suggestions, or guesses at where this is going, tell me...(pst, cause I dont\' know either!) :D
