A Fool\'s Prophecy

Upon entering Dumbledore\'s office after dinner Hermione was met with an unlikely sight, One nervous Severus Snape. Standing up
upon her enterance Severus greeted Hermione.
\"Good evening Miss Granger.\" Severus said smoothly.
\" Please, If this is going to work at all you will need to adress me as Hermione, Severus.\" Hermione said with as much confidence as she
could muster.
\"Of course, Hermione.\" Severus said allowing her given name to roll off of his lips.
\"Well how about we get started then Severus.\"
\" Hermione first and foremost i want to thank you. I know that I am a difficult man, I have considered you a friend before this, and I hope
I was considered as much to you. With that said I just wanted to let you know that although this marriage is a sham I will do my best to
fulfill the rof huf husband. Never fear me Hermione, I will not harm you.
\" I never feared you Severus and I do consider you a friend. While being friends makes this arrangement easier, there are things that need
to be discussed. I assume Albus has told you that we would in fact have to connsumate the relationship, and maintain the facade for an
unknown amount of time.
\"Albus has discussed the details with me earlier, this factor of connsumation is what I wished to discuss with you.\"
\" Well Severus, I suppose a little history would be beneficial if this \"relationship\" is going to be a sucessful one.
\"Fair enough Hermione. As you know I was a deatheater and as such I have forced women into sex as well as sexual acts. I have used Imperio
to maintain their compliance, and aside from those few Deatheater revels that involved such activities I have had no other sexual
experience.\" Severus finished quietly looking away from Hermione. Avoiding Hermione\'s eyes for fear of disgust and loathing Severus was
too concentrated on avoiding her to realize that she had moved across the room to stand directly in front of him.Placing her hand on Severus\' face,
Hermione lifted his face forcing him to look at her.
\"Thank you for telling me Severus. I know that must have been difficult and I truly appreciate that you are being honest with me.
I know that you turned back to the light, that is all that matters to me Severus, you came back to us. \" Hermione finished softly.
Severus\' mind reeled he could not believe what he had just heard. Hermione did not hate him, in fact she was not mad or dissapointed in him.
For the second time in a day Hermione had given Severus hope. Hope that regardless of everything else, someone cared for him, even
if in just a friendly fashion.
\"Since you have been so honest with me I can only do the same. Well since I have been working with the order and constantly stressing
about my grades I never really had a serious relationship. Therefore as you may or may not know I am a virgin.\" Hermione said bluntly and blushing
furiously.
Severus closed his eyes and tried to maintain his composure. This was certainly a shock, casuing his to reconsider the entire foolish idea.
Hermione realizing that Severus was reconsidering the plan strode towards him and with the most commanding voice she could muster
called him back to attention.
\"Severus Snape, don\'t you dare become all chivalrious on me and back out of this plan. I am aware of all the implications and have agreed to them.
This is my decision, it is my gift to give. I choose to give you this gift and I would be hurt if you did not allow it.\" Hermione scolded allowing
herself to reveal a little more than anticipated.
\"Why\" was the soft reply from Severus.
\"Please do not ask me these questions, just know that I want to help you. I want to do this. Just ask me again in a few months.\" Hermione
said blushing lightly and staring into Severus\' dark eyes. Not fully sure of how to respond to her, Severus did the only thing he could think.
Standing in front of Hermione, Severus took her hand in his and looking Hermione in the eyes withdrew a box from inside his cloak.
\"Hermione Granger, Will you do me the honor ot becoming my wife.\" Looking down to the box presented to her Hermione was astonished to see
a beautiful diamond ring with two emeralds on the side. Looking back up to Severus\' face Hermione smiled.
\"Yes, Severus I will marry you.\" Returning her smile Severus stood and slid the ring onto her finger, and embraced her lightly.
\"Well Hermione, I will see you tomorrow to discuss wedding plans. Good Night\" Severus said as he turned to leave. Grabbing Severus\'
arm Hermione stopped his forward motion and propelled herself into him quickly, granting him a short sweet kiss.
\"Goodnight Severus\" Hermione said as she swept past him, not fully understanding her actions.
Tracing his lips with his fingers Severus let a rare smile grace his lips.
\" Good night indeed Hermione.\" Severus said quietly to himself. With a billowing of his cloak, Severus retreated from the headmasters
office and into the privacy of his dungeons. He had alot to think about.

Thats it for now. Next chapter will be planning the wedding, and Severus redecorating his rooms to make Hermione feel more at home.
