Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Sometime during the night a fresh layer of snow had fallen, and had blanketed everything giving the school grounds the mystical, winter wonderland appearance.
Sirius sat in a large, overly- stuffed armchair that faced a large window in the Gryffindor Common Room, while Remus and James had taken residence by the fire and had started a game of wizards’ chess.
Despite the events that had occurred last night, it seemed that everything was normal again. Save for one thing. The awesome trio had been turned into a foursome due to the arrival of Peter Petigrew.
No one seemed to notice when Peter was around or not around, so Sirius saw no reason in considering him apart of the group. Just a punching bag for cruel remarks, or physical reprimands.
Sirius exhaled heavily as he leaned forward in his chair placing both arms on their designated arm rests. He drew in the fine atmosphere that had been lavishly painted outside, and to his surprise he found Dumble ste standing in the snow, flanked by Professors Sprout, Flitwick, and Binns.
“What the…” he muttered, adjusting his position in the chair to get a better view, and catching the attention of James, Remus, and Peter. They each took a spot on either side of him to get a better look at was going on below.
“What do you think James?” Sirius asked quizzically.
“I couldn’t say, do you think…maybe we should…investigate?” James caught the look of excitement in both Sirius and Remus, and caught his own excitement, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“That won’t be necessary boys…” came an all too familiar voice, which forced the four of them to turn around and look at the speaker, “Professor Dumbledore has requested your presence. We have a new student. I don’t suppose you need to know much more, but please be down there in five minutes.” Professor McGonagal said nodding to each of them as she turned on her heels and left the common room.
“Well…what do you think?” Peter asked, finally breaking the silence.
“Who cares…if we don’t go we’ll have detention, if we do go…we’ll have detention…so lets go, and just save the argument.” Sirius replied, as he stood, and cantered ue ste stairs.
