Chapter Three: Lavender Crabbes pain.

The next day Hermione headed to the Great Hall, and sat down at the Gryffindor table.
Harry and wer were both talking about what happened last night. Harry noticed Hermione and turned to her.
“Why did it have to be Snape!” He commented. She looked at him.
“Well, better him than Malfoy.” Harry made a face and Hermione started to eat. Meanwhile at the staff table Professor Lupin was trying to get information out of Snape.
“So, what happened last night?” He asked. Snape rolled his eyes at what he was asking.
“Nothing,” he told him. “Nothing happened. I left my quarters, and she was asleep on the couch. She woke up and we said goodnight.” Lupin grinned at him.
“Well, I had an interesting night,” he told him. “My new wife and I got to know each other.” Snape turned to him.

“You’re a sick wizard, you know that,” he snapped. He didn’t feel like hearing the report on Lupin's new life. Lupin grinned at him, and Snape, losing his appetite left the High Table. The bell rang, and the Hermione, Harry, and Ron headed to History of Magic. They settled down, and Professor Binns came in. He took role, noting the new name changes, and laid his notes down.
“I would normally start with a boring discussion about Goblin Rebellions, but because what happened last night changed a lot of students, I would like to ask how you all feel about this new law.” Hermione at once raised her hand. “Mrs. Snape.”
“Why did they consider this new law important?” She asked. “I mean I don’t fully understand what the Minister meant about this happened in Egypt.”
“Well, to make things clear, when I was alive, it was not uncommon for a pureblooded wizard to marry a pureblooded witch who was a distant cousin. The Muggles believe that a disease infected Egypt because the King had married his sister, but they have it wrong. Everyone in Egypt married within their social standing, because of it a disease formed in the offspring causing the same damage to them as it has started to do to us. Our numbers are going down as it did in Egypt, and in a few generations there will be no Hogwarts because there will be no magic. The Law was passed to prevent this. We may not like it, but we have to make the most of it.” The class looked at each other and then Professor Binns continued.
“For those who are married in this class, what was it like?”

“Nothing much, we talked,” said Ron when he had been called. The Professor nodded at him and then pointed to Hermione.
“I fell asleep, and when he entered I woke up and we went to bed,” Hermione told him. Several other students said the same thing.
“Well, they're fighting it,” he told them. “They are fighting the new law in their own way. I do hope however, that you at least try to go further in the relationship then just talking. It’s important for this relationship to work out.” Twenty minutes later the bell rang, and they all left. Hermione and Harry had Advanced Charms to go to. They passed by the Lupins who were pouring over something.
“I swear those two are meant for each other,” she told Harry. Harry, who had noticed them too, didn’t say anything. When they entered Advanced Charms, Professor Flitwick was just finishing the notes he had placed on the blackboard.

“Well, settle down,” he told them. “Now we are learning how to perform the Bubblehead Charm. I’m sure Mr. Potter has seen this before, but I want everyone to know how to it it so that you are ready for your N.E.W.T’S, now lets get started.” The students took out their things, and started to write. She had just finished one side of the blackboard when there was a knock on the door.
“Enter.” The door opened and Colin Creevy entered. “Yes, what do you want?”
“I need to see Mrs. Snape now!” Hermione looked up, and noticed Colin had a worried look on his face. The Professor told her she could go, so she took her things and left.
“What's going on?” Hermione asked.
“I want you to see,” he told her. Hermione, who had no idea what was going on, was led down to the girl’s bathroom. Snterntered and noticed Lavender crying. She laid her things down and sat down.
“What happened?” She asked.
“Vincent raped me,” she cried out. Hermione started to go red with rage. “I told him I wasn’t ready to have a child, and he raped me.”
“Hermione, your husband is head of his house, please tell him what happened,” Colin begged.
“I have Advanced Potions afterch, ch, I’ll let him know,” she told him. “Take her to the Hospital Wing.”

“Yes mame.” And after much coaxing, the two left. When they were gone, Hermione was almost beside herself with fury. At least her husband didn’t rape her on their wedding night. She knew her husband had morals, and he would never want anything to happen to any student. The bell rang as she left the girl's bathroom, she would tell Harry and Ron what happened when she got to the Great Hall. She pitched her things in her quarters and then headed there. “Hello Luna,” Hermione called when she saw her friend.
“Hello Hermione, have a good morning?” Hermione shook her head, and sat down. Harry and Ron had a bad feeling about this. Harry, of course, being Harry decided to ask what the matter was, and what the whole thing with Colin Creevy was about.
“Lavender has been raped,” Hermione told them. “Her husband did it.” Luna put her hand over her mouth, and both boys got mad.
“How’s she doing?” asked Harry. Hermione looked at him sadly.
“I don’t know,” she told him. “Colin told me to talk to my husband about it because he is the head of Crabbe's house. I told him that I would.” “Good thinking,” Ron said. Hermione lo at at him stunned, he was actually defending Snape. “What?” Hermione laughed, seeing his confused _expression. Hermione started her meal, and didn’t talk about what happened until the bell rang, and she and Harry went down to essoessor Snape’s Potions class. Professor Snape wasn’t looking forward to Advanced Potions today, not that he had done anything wrong to want to avoid the class. His wife would be there, and he didn’t want to think about her raising her hand, and wanting to be a know-it-all. When he opened the door to let his class enter, he noticed that Hermione was not her bouncy self, she was very somber. He wondered what had happened today to make her like that. He saw his Slytherins, and smiled knowing that they would do things right, and earn his house loads of points. He started to write his notes downthe the blackboard, and Hermione had to listen to Crabbe talking about Lavender in a way that she hated.

Finally she got tired of it and got up. She was going to make sure he never knew what hit him. She walked over, and using the hand that had her wedding ring, she punched him square in the mouth. She must of hit him pretty hard because the sicking CRACK of broken bone went through the classroom. Both the Gryffindors and Slytherins were torn between shock and anger.
“She broke my jaw,” Crabbe muttered, or at least that’s what they thought they heard.

Snape rushed forward and restrained Hermione the best that he could, it was hard with she was twisting and frailing around. Malfoy glared at her.
“Snape, you better control that wife of yours,” he snapped. “She attacked a student.”
“Well it serves him right,” she snapped back. “He raped Lavender.” Snape looked at her and then at Crabbe.
“What?” Hermione looked at him.
“Yeah, Lavender is in the Hospital wing right now, Crabbe raped her, because she wouldn’t go to bed with him on their wedding night.” Malfoy sneered at her.

“This is an arranged marriage, Snape, if you don’t like how things are done then you need to leave this school.” Hermione looked in horror at her husband, and then left. She didn’t hear Snape taking a hundred points from Slytherin for what Malfoy had said. Hermione slammed the door shut, and fell on the floor. Would her husband have done that if she didn’t do what he wanted. She knew he had been a Deatheater and he had done some horrible things. A knock on the door brought Hermione to her senses.
“Hermione, please open the door,” said Snape. Hermione opened it, and Snape walked in. “Hermione, you don’t think I would of done that.” Hermione bit her lip not knowing what to say. He walked up to her, and forced her to look at him. “Unlike some pureblooded wizards, I don’t believe in rape. I may have done it when I was a Deatheater, but it’s against my morals. Also, the fact that when my father found out he put me in the full body bind for a week.” Hermione laughed at that thought. Snape didn’t see what was so funny, but it was good to see her doing something else then yelling.
“Am I in trouble for hitting Crabbe?”
“Well, normally I would give you detention, but you were defending Lavender. He earned it, I wish I could do the same to his father.” Hermione turned away and thought about what he had said.
“Do all the members of his house do that to women?” She asked.
“I would be lying to you if I said they didn’t,” he told her. She turned around to face him.
“Dumbledore told me that you were a good man, and that you had been through a lot,” she told him. “ I thought you were better then marrying Draco Malfoy. I guess I was right.” Snape didn’t say anything to this, but guessed that Dumbledore had his reasons. Snape left a few minutes later telling her that she could do the potion tonight, and he would grade it. She was grateful for the time alone, and decided she would head to the Hospital Wing to see how Lavender was doing.
