“Draco, I wish to speak with you.”

Immediately I jump up from the table, throwing a hasty goodbye to it’s occupants, especially Akane. The only small miracle of her attending Hogwarts is that she’s a fourth year so I won’t have to fraternize with her much. When she smiles goodbye to me I give return it with a strained one of my own before following Severus out of the Great Hall.

“Uncle…”

“Not here, Draco.”

I nod in understanding as I trail behind his tall form. When we make it to his suite he whispers his password before ushering me into the familiar quarters. Severus gestures me to a seat and I comply, sitting rigidly on the sofa. Uncle Sev follows suit and I stare at him curiously. Soon, however, my curiosity turns to horror as I watch Severus pulling out a folded owl post from his robes.

“Draco, I retrieved this in the mail earlier today. I replied to Lucius trying to dissuade him of his decision and as such chose not to contact you about the post until it was clear what course of action your Father would take.”

My fingers clench tightly at my side but I am pleased that my voice doesn’t waver. “That letter speaks of Aido’s and Akane’s arrival at Hogwarts.”

“…that is correct.”

“Well,” I say, stiffly getting up from the couch, “if that is all that you have to tell me then I must depart. There is much to do before the morrow’s classes.”

“Draco, there is…more.”

“What do you mean, Uncle? I am aware that Akane is here. I am aware that Aido is here. I am also aware that as a first year I will be forced to take Aido’s class. What more can there be?”

“Draco, this is…difficult for me.”

“Oh, please,” I say sarcastically, folding my arms over my chest. “It must be so ‘difficult’ to have to watch me go through this ‘sexual training.’ The only thing more difficult for you is the fact that you’re not the one buggering me!” My breath is labored and my chest is heaving, but as soon as the words leave my mouth I regret them.

The look on Severus’ face is that of someone who has sucked on a sour lemon for too long and his onyx eyes are burning with rage. “Draco, no matter the situation I will not tolerate such insolence!”

“I—I’m sorry, Uncle,” I whisper softly.

“It is quite alright, Draco,” Severus says, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. His arms are stiff at the uncommon show of physical comfort and I am equally stiff in his arms. I know that Severus is only trying to help me and instead of being grateful I lashed out at him. Yet, even at my horrible comment he is still trying to comfort me and that makes me feel all the worse.

“I’m sorry,” I say again. Severus just nods his head in understanding, tightening his arms around me. I return the awkward hug, wrapping my arms around him, and it is only now, with my face pressed into his shoulder, that I notice the tears running down my cheeks. “I’m sorry,” I say again, and this time there is a sob in my voice. Uncle Sev doesn’t say anything, he just continues the awkward wrap of his arms around me shoulders.

After a few minutes of Severus’ comfort I pull away from his arms. Silently Severus hands me a handkerchief and I quickly use the silk square to wipe the moisture off my face. “What more is there that you wish to tell me, Uncle,” I ask in a now calm voice. Severus just sighs before handing my the letter.

With dread I open the folded parchment. I ignore the broken seal of the Malfoy crest before I focus my eyes on Father’s elegant scrawl.

Dear Heir,

I hope that you have shown Akane how cordial the Malfoy family is. As Akane and Aido do not have a Narita suite at Hogwarts I have invited them to stay in our family suite. I have already spoken with the Parkinsons so this should not pose any type of problem especially since you and Akane will be supervised by an adult.

Draco, do not disappoint me.

L.A.M
Head of Malfoy House

My hands tremble as I turn wide eyes to Severus’. “What does this mean,” I ask Severus, the previously restored calm in my voice completely gone. I already have an idea of what my Father is saying but surely the notion floating through my head is against Hogwarts’ rules.

“The family suites of Hogwarts were designed long before many of the laws of this school were put in place. One of these such laws which I am speaking of is the separation of witches and wizards into dorms based on sex and house. If you were to say, marry a Ravenclaw while still attending Hogwarts, she would have the right to move to your suite, even though Hogwarts rules state that witches and wizards as well as people of different houses must not room in the same quarters.”

“Please, just tell me,” I say, my voice tight with thinly veiled emotion. Uncle Sev’s voice, as strained as my own, sounds as if he were in his classroom, lecturing, and the academic tone is not helping the situation in the least.

“Draco, while the Naritas attend Hogwarts they will be rooming with you in the Malfoy suite.”

I let out a short laugh and Uncle Sev just stares at me incredulously. “That is impossible,” I say with more conviction than I actually feel. “Akane isn’t a Malfoy and Aido is a teacher.”

“That is true, Draco. However, as your Father is on the school board he has the right to extend his suite to any students traveling abroad.”

“Exactly, Severus, students. Aido is not a student, he is my teacher. He cannot stay with me in my suite! Surely this is against Hogwarts’ rules.”

“Not necessarily, Draco. If I were to say, have a child, then they would have two options of room choice. The first is in a dorm and the second is in the family suite. As the teacher I would also be given two room choices. The first is a set of rooms for Hogwarts’ employees, the second, like any child of mine, is the family suite.”

“Are you saying…”

“Draco, it is very rare that a student attends Hogwarts while a member of their family teachers. It is the right of any student or teacher attending Hogwarts to stay in their family’s suite and as such if your Father extended the Malfoy suite to Akane, then it is thus extended to Aido.”

“No…” I say, barely higher than a whisper. My vision is going black because I am hyperventilating and I can feel bile in my throat. When Severus touches my shoulder in calm my body jerks reflexively. “No!”

“Draco, please…try to stay calm.”

“No! How could…I—I…I can’t do this!”

“You don’t have a choice. This is not about you, but about the Malfoy name. Your family name, Draco, which always come first.”

“How can you say this to me when I…when I’m practically being raped!”

“Draco,” Severus says softly, taking ahold of my shoulders in his potion’s stained hands. “I am not trying to be cruel. I am just trying to make you understand the situation. You have no choice, no say in anything. You are the Malfoy heir; you cannot go against this.”

“Did my…did my Father have to go through this?”

Severus sighs before taking my hand in his own. Another awkward comfort but this time it feels perfect. “Yes, Draco. As a pureblood and as the heir your Father went through much of the same training as you.”

“Then…I will do it. I will not dishonor my family’s name.”

“Draco…”

“If there is nothing else to talk about then I shall be leaving.”

“Draco, your Father was fourteen when he started his. Most pureblood don’t start to sixteen. You are an eleven year old boy!”

I give Uncle Sev a bitter smile before shrugging my shoulders. “As you stated, Uncle, I don’t have a choice. This is not about me.”

“Yes, that is true. But as your Godfather and as your teacher I am not completely helpless.” I stare at Uncle Sev in question before he nods to a long piece of parchment on the coffee table that I only notice now due to his prompting. When I lean over to read the heading a small hope rises in my chest: Potion’s Intern

“But…but I’m too young.”

“I have tutored you in potions since you were a small boy. You have more knowledge in that blond head of yours than half of the dunderheads roaming these halls.” I smile at the praise from Severus and he just lets out another sigh. “Draco, even though your Father is adamant about your training that is something which is private. A potions intern, however, especially at such a young age, is something that is recognized throughout the wizarding world. Good publicity and prestige for the Malfoy name, and your Father will not pass it up.”

“This potion’s internship, will it keep Aido and Akane out of my bed?”

“For the most part, though they will probably utilize your weekends.”

My stomach grumbles uncomfortably at the notion of the two Naritas back in my bed but I cannot help but be happy at the small reprieve Uncle Sev is offering. “Thank you,” I say, raising my eyes to meet Severus'. “Thank you once again, Uncle. I—”

“Shh, Draco. It is not necessary. I am your Godfather after all.”

I give Uncle Sev a strained smile and he returns it with an equally strained one before leading me out of his rooms. “I will need to speak with you tomorrow after classes so that we can get all of the paperwork in order. I am sure you will make a fine intern, Draco.”

“Of course, Uncle. I shall not disappoint you.”

“I am very proud of you. You have never disappointed me, Draco. Never…”
