Chapter Twenty-One

Avalon Castle: Kindred Lord Zion’s Chambers

Zion shivered once more as he tried to read another missive from Counsel. At his arrival, back last night the castle was colder all due to the emotions of the King and his Consort.

“This is getting ridiculous.” Zion whispered into his empty study. Not sure, what had caused the change. He had been gone since the day after the meeting in the war room. Grinning as he remembered the merging of the King and King Consort’s magic that day.

Yes, he heard the rumors but they meant nothing to him. Zion felt that Lord Kage was just trying to gain his footing for the position he found himself in. Moreover, when Kage found it the rumors would cease. Unfortunately it hasn’t. Thought Zion as he pushed from his chair and toward the door.

“I’m going to get to the bottom of this. Even if it’s the last thing I do.” Zion growled as another shiver ran down his spine. As he strolled out of his chambers toward the King’s study.

Malfoy Chambers

“Mother this is absurd.” Snarled Draco as he cast another warming charm on himself.

“What I want to know is what has caused this coldness.” Narcissa snapped as she grabbed another blanket adding warmth to her person.

“Oh please Mother; you know exactly what has caused this. Or should I say whom.” Draco remarked as he waved his wand around the room again. “Damned fools should have just kept their mouths shut concerning Kage. “ He was about to speak again when the door to the chambers was knocked upon.

“Enter!” Draco snarled, as his eyes widened at the person that stood at the door. He could not help the blush that graced his cheeks, at the site of the Prince.

“Am I interrupting something?” The voice of Chris as he walked into the room.

Narcissa noticed her sons silence and smirk. “Of course not Prince, do come in.” She spoke as she waved him to an empty seat.

Chris nodded before walking to the chair nearest him. Not caring at this moment about what was proper as, he collapsed into the chair with a sigh. He knew the young Malfoy had answers to his questions. He also thought the young man was striking. Nevertheless, did not want to believe the interest he had for him, so he always tried to push the elf away. “I need to ask Mr. Malfoy about his comment yesterday.” Chris spoke as he shook his head trying to clear his thoughts.

“I see, well I’ll take my leave. I need to speak to my mate anyway.” Narcissa stated as she stood leaving the room in search of Severus.

Draco had finally realized that his mother had left them alone, on purpose. It warmed him slightly, that she understood what he, Draco wanted. “My Prince, what comment would that be?” He stated as he took the seat his mother had recently vacated. Taking in the appearance of the one, he wanted as his mate.

“The one about the lion and snake. I know you recall the conversation.” Chris responded in aspiration. As he stared at the silver eyes of the one before him. Trying not to think of what he would like to do to him.

“Ah that comment. I just wanted to give you some advice. Did you figure it out yet?” Draco stated coyly as he tried to keep his blush from his face.

“No, I did not.” Chris stated as he closed his eyes, before shivering. “Damn you brother.” He muttered before snapping his eyes open at the sudden warmth that surrounded him.

Draco smiled; he knew it was cold in the room. For he had been casting that charm often. So when the Prince‘s eyes came open remarked, “I thought you might need the warmth.”

“Thank you. Now will you explain that comment?” Chris asked with warmth as he stared again into those eyes. The eyes that seemed to look into your soul.

Draco sighed; he knew that the comment was cryptic. “What do you know about Kage?” He asked needing to know what the Prince knew about his future in law, before explaining anything.

Chris blinked; he was not sure what the elf wanted. “I don’t understand what you’re asking?”

“I mean his past. What do you know about his past? What has he told you and your family?” Draco stated sharply as he began to pace. “I can’t answer that question unless I know how much of his past you know.”

“I know his name was Harry Potter and he was wrongfully imprisoned. He did not finish his education at Hogwarts. As well as other things, I refuse to speak about. What does that have to do about my question?” Chris spoke still somewhat confused.

Draco could not help but flinch at the name Potter. However, he stopped pacing and looks coldly at Chris as he answered. “Everything, What do you know about Hogwarts? His time at Hogwarts?”

Chris was a bit miffed at the sudden coldness of Draco’s voice, but answered anyway. “I know that Hogwarts admits students at the age of 11 and you have seven years of magical education. Aiden never went into details with me. The two of us have not been extremely close. As I’m sure you realized that since you’ve been at Avalon.”

“What about the housing system? Surely you know about that.” Draco asked trying not to get to close to the Prince. He was not sure if he wanted to slap him or kiss him.

“Of course, there are four houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. But I still don’t understand where you’re going with this.”

“To understand my statement you need to have the basic understanding of Hogwarts. “ Draco smirked as he turned to face the Prince before continuing.
“When you go to Hogwarts you’re sorted into your house. In addition, an animal represents each one. Gryffindor is a lion, Ravenclaw a raven, Hufflepuff a badger and finally Slytherin a snake. Following me so far?” At the Princes nod he continued. “ Kage was sorted into Gryffindor because of what he was told. Even though he should have been in Slytherin.”

Dawning crossed Chris’s face as he listened to Draco in silence. “You’re saying that Aiden is both a lion and snake. And I made a big mistake.”

Draco smiled. Yes, that was what Draco wanted him to realize. That when he confronted Kage he did it the wrong way. Now everyone was paying for that mistake. “A snake in lion’s fur is crafting, cunning and proud. But a snake with no emotion can turn deadly. That statement rings true with Kage, more so now than before he was betrayed. My Prince…” Draco stated but was interrupted by the Prince.

“Chris, my name is Chris.”

Draco’s eyes widened slightly before speaking again. “Alright Chris, Kage and I in the past were rivals. You know there is a saying something like keep your friends close but your enemies closer. (Chris nodded) I watched Kage during the time he was in Hogwarts. When we fought and I mouthed off at him and his friends, I could see a glint in his eyes. At first, I did not understand it but then the more I interacted with them. I realized that he enjoyed the challenge that I gave him; it amused him in some way. That is not a trait of Gryffindor.”

“Wait but Aiden is Lord Gryff… “Chris started but snapped his mouth shut. As he realized what he left slip.

“Really? Well, well as I said snake in lion’s fur.” Chuckled Draco as he seen the look of shock come across the Prince. “Don’t look so shocked, I could care less about Kage’s titles. I have my own.”

Chris did not know what to expect from his slip. Now knew that Malfoy could help him fix his mistake. “I need help.”

Draco raised an eyebrow. “With what exactly?” He asked even though he knew. He just wanted the Prince to ask him. It made him giddy at be able to spend more time with him.

“My mistake. It’s my fault Aiden has changed so.” Chris stated with determination.

Draco could see the pain in Chris’s eyes, he did not like it. Yes, he knew he could help him. “Alright I’ll help you. On one condition.”

Chris’s eyes lit up when Draco said he would help. However, narrowed when the condition was mentioned. “What condition?”

“You have dinner with me. “ Draco stated calmly trying to prevent the blush that was forming.

“Alright, I’ll have dinner with you. “ Chris sighed; he really was not sure what he was getting into. He knew the elf liked him and that he found the elf attractive. He just hoped that he could keep from making a fool of himself.

“Good, meet me tonight at six here. And I’ll tell you what needs to be done.” Draco stated as he went to open the door.

Chris watched him open the door and knew that his time was finished. Walking out of the door not looking back. For if he did he would have seen the smug look that graced Draco’s face.

Zion had been inside with the King for over an hour and had yet to get a word out of him. He was beginning to think that the King would continue to do so. That was until the King finally spoke, and the look in the young ones eyes choked him.

“Zion?” Wyatt looked at the Kindred Lord with anger and hurt.

“Wyatt, what has caused this?” Zion spoke softly from his seat.

“I feel like I’ve lost him.” Wyatt whispered as he stood up, walking to stand in front of Zion.

“Who? Lost who Wyatt?” Zion questioned as he watched the King’s movements.

“Aiden.”

Zion said nothing at first, but grabbed the young King. Placing him on his lap and into his arms, and noticed the underlining of Wyatt beginning to lose control of his magic. “Peace, young one peace. Show me!” Zion softly commanded as he turned Wyatt to straddle him, as the young Kings eyes went gold.

Wyatt was sitting in his study. He looked up as Aiden teleported into the room. “Aiden, why change? “

“Because this is what they wanted.” Aiden coldly responded.

“Why care what they want? I lov…like you the way you were.” Wyatt stated just as coldly as he began moving into Aiden’s space.

“I will not be considered weak. I’m giving them what they wanted Wyatt.” Aiden snapped and flinched when Wyatt grabbed him by the arms.

“What they want doesn’t matter. What you and I want is all that matters. And I want the old you, not this shell that you’ve become.” Wyatt stated as he held tightly to Aiden.

“This is a part of me Wyatt.” Aiden stated as he tried to remove himself from Wyatt’s hold unsuccessfully.

“Don’t be this way with me Aiden. I can’t marry you this way.” Wyatt softly stated as he released his companion.

“I try to be myself and then told it is wrong. I put the cold mask back on and cover my emotions and that is wrong too. What do you people want from me?” snapped Aiden as he held tightly to his emotions while rubbing his arms.

“Nothing Aiden. My people do not want anything from you. They wanted me happy and you made me happy. Just because a few at court whined about your behavior does not mean anything to me. You’re to marry me not them.” Wyatt snapped in fury as his magic spiked.

“Wyatt?” Aiden exclaimed before teleporting out of the study.

Wyatt stood shocked at the empty space. Before screaming Aiden’s name as his magic went cold.

Zion was pulled out of the memory as Wyatt’s eyes went blue again. This is wrong. Zion thought as he held the young King. There was something missing, he could feel that both of them were hurting.

“Zion?” Wyatt whispered as he tried to get out of the Vampire’s lap.

“Wyatt, you need to go rest. Is the wedding still on schedule?” Zion asked as he released the King in his arms.

“Yes, I just don’t know what to think. Was I wrong Zion? I mean we all know the prophecy, but this new Aiden. I can’t spend my life with someone that refuses to be themselves.”

“You won’t Wyatt. Lord Kage is the one meant for you and you know it. Magic would never lead her chosen wrong. What does Magic say?” Zion stated calmly as he watched the young one move to sit behind his desk again.

“That Aiden is not himself. But she will not tell me how to fix the problem.” Wyatt responded blankly.

“I never understood why the people of Avalon were so mouthy. It reflects badly on all magic. I do not know why Lord Kage has changed so. However, I will find out. In the mean time rest young one tomorrow will be a busy day.” Zion stated before vanishing away.

Wyatt sighed, he was drained but his magic would not let him sleep. Therefore, he went back to his paperwork.

AN: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I apologize on the late update; however, personal things took me away from my computer.
