Chapter 27
Harry felt as though he was going to be sick. Nothing he did was helping,
nothing his godfather or former professor did was helping. Nothing was...
“Draco, please, please just breath! Just listen to my voice. Please!” He
pleaded, tightening his fingers around the blondes twitching fingers painfully.
“You have to listen to my voice. Just listen to me, listen to what I’m
saying...”
//Please, Merlin, please.// The Gryffindor thought, tears burning in the back
of his eyelids as he watched the way Draco’s eyes wavered in and out of focus.
//Please let me help him...//
“Breath, Draco. Listen to my voice sweetheart! Listen to your Harry’s
voice...” He murmured, ignoring the disgruntled noises behind him. He didn’t
care what his godfather thought. He didn’t care. Not right now, not here.
All he wanted was for his...Draco to breath. To see those gray eyes shinning
brightly as they focused on him. He wanted to see those thing bow string lips
pulled into a tiny smile, the one just reserved for Harry, not tinged blue as
they were now.
“Baby...” Harry choked. God, why was this happening? One minute Draco was
fine and the next -- he should have tried to stay awake. He should have stayed
conscious and made sure nothing happened. He could have been there to do
something before this started.
Harry felt his chest constrict. Draco was clutching his fingers to tightly
and his face...Oh Merlin, his face all but begged Harry to help him. To do
something.
“Please, love, please! You can do it. I know you can. All you have to do is
breath...”
Draco’s whimper tore at his heart. Even as...
"That's it! That's it. You're doing it, love. You're doing it. Calm. Calm.
That's it. Just listen to the sound of my voice. I'm proud of you, Draco. That’s
it. Just breathe with me."
A strangled noise gurgled from the back of the blonde’s throat as his eyes
stared widely into Harry’s own.
"C'mon, love. Do it for me, just for me."
The fingers in Harry’s grasp twitched and then clutched. Draco’s fingernails
tore into Harry’s skin but he paid it no mind, just as long as his Draco
breathed. Just as long as Draco kept breathing, even when he wasn’t there...
A tiny gasp escaped the boy‘s lips. Harry wanted to cry.
//Thank you, Merlin. Thank you.//
"Let me see those beautiful eyes, sweetheart. That's it. Look at me, see me.
Concentrate on me."
Harry pulled one of his hands from around the blonde’s fingers and rubbed it
against the boy’s cheek, soothingly.
"Beautiful, love. You're doing beautiful."
Draco gulped in a ragged gasp of breath.
Harry thought he’d never heard a more beautiful sound.
