Chapter 28 ~ Severus Meets with Odessa, Alone.
Odessa was finishing her breakfast when a knock sounded on her door. She put down her plate, wiped her mouth and rose from the couch. She tied her robe around her more securely and approached the door.
“Who is it?” she called.
“Professor Snape,” replied Severus.
Odessa’s belly gave a leap of excitement. Hurriedly she opened the door and looked up at the Potions Master, breathlessly. Severus looked down at her.
“Good morning, Miss Divine. I was wondering if I might have a word with you,” he asked as his eyes swept over her. Good gods, she wasn’t dressed yet.
“Certainly, Professor,” Odessa replied, trying to conceal her eagerness. He was here! She opened the door wider and he swept in. She closed the door behind him, and locked it.
Severus heard the click. He pretended he didn’t. She was just a young woman after all. If he wanted to leave all he would have to do was unlock it.
He turned toward her. Odessa just stared at him, unable to speak. Severus took a good look at her now, and decided that they would be able to talk better if she were properly dressed.
“Miss Divine, I hope you don’t find it forward of me to ask you if you would please take a moment to dress. It would make me feel more comfortable, given the subject I wish to speak to you about,” he said, his eyes flicking over her.
Odessa looked down at herself. She thought she looked rather appealing, and after all was dressed for easy access. But then again, this was Severus Snape. He might not want her to be too forward. Some men liked the chase, after all.
“Certainly, Professor. Just give me a minute. Please sit down,” Odessa said, gesturing to the couch. Severus sat, and she disappeared into her bedroom.
Not wanting to make him wait for her to shower, Odessa did a quick scourgify. She pulled on her robes, but remained naked underneath. She might not want to appear forward, but she definitely wanted to be ready. She re-entered the living room. Severus looked much more comfortable now that she was properly attired.
“Let me get us some refreshments first,” Odessa said.
Before Severus could decline, she bounced off to her kitchen, opened the little magical cooler she had installed and took out some pumpkin juice.
“Is pumpkin juice all right?” she called out to the Potions Master. He hesitated, then to be polite said, “Yes, Miss Divine. Pumpkin juice will be fine.”
Odessa took out two tall glasses and filled them with never-melting ice, and poured in the juice. She peeked around the corner. Severus seemed interested in a magazine on the table. Odessa quietly slid open the kitchen drawer and removed the red wrapped vial. She dumped the entire contents into the pumpkin juice. A little tongue of fire appeared over it, then dissipated. She carefully rewrapped the vial and placed it back inside the drawer, binding it to the roof again. Then she carried the glasses of juice out to the living room, placing the one with the potion in it in front of the Potions Master, and taking her own with her to the armchair directly across from him.
“Thank you,” Severus said as she put the glass down.
“You’re very welcome,” Odessa replied, as she settled in. She fixed him with an intense stare. “I’m surprised your wife didn’t accompany you, Professor.”
“My wife is otherwise occupied at the moment, Miss Divine. And what I need to discuss with you is best discussed between us. My wife would only complicate things,” Severus replied, his hand moving toward the glass of cold juice in front of him.
Odessa held her breath, but then his hand moved away. Damn. But she felt a jolt of pleasure that he felt his wife would be a complication. The less complications, the better.
“Miss Divine, it has come to my attention that you may be harboring some ‘feelings’ toward me. I want to ask you directly, is this true?” Severus said, his black eyes meeting hers.
Odessa had butterflies. If she wanted him, she would have to be honest with him.
“Yes. I do have feelings for you, Professor. I have for many years,” she said softly, “before you married your wife, in fact.”
“So you do realize I am a married man. And that being so, I am bound to my wife and can have no other woman. Do you understand that?”
Odessa looked at him, realizing that this talk was not going to go the way she had hoped. He had come here to discourage her. But he couldn’t discourage the tingling she felt all over her body at having him alone in her rooms. He couldn’t discourage her desire.
“You married her before you knew about me, Professor, and how I felt about you. There is no other wizard in this world as noble, as brilliant and as deserving as you are of real love. A love that I can show you, if you would give me the opportunity,” she said heatedly.
Severus cleared his throat. He hadn’t expected such directness from the beautiful witch. There was no mistaking her offer.
“Miss Divine, I already have a wife that loves me deeply. Who I love deeply. I cannot give you the opportunity you wish. Plus, you do not even know me. You have an image of me that doesn’t really represent me.”
He paused, trying to be delicate with the witch’s feelings.
“Miss Divine, I don’t know what happened to you that you feel you need to deify me, but I assure you there are other men, available men, who would leap at the chance to love you, if you would only open up to the idea,” he said.
Odessa’s eyes were watering, even as she felt her need growing. Damn, drink the juice.
“Don’t you find me attractive?” she asked him.
“Of course you are attractive, Miss Divine. But it is not about your beauty. There is more to falling in love with a woman than her beauty. There is the inward beauty that has an appeal as well,” he said.
“I have beauty inside. You could feel it if you just…just gave me a chance to show you,” she said, starting to rise.
“No. Not good. Not good!” thought the Potions Master.
“Please be seated, Miss Divine. If you approach me, I will be forced to leave and this issue will remain unresolved,” Severus said bluntly.
Odessa reseated herself, and took a breath. Time to go all out. She felt like she was going to explode if something didn’t happen between them soon.
“Professor Snape, I dream about you making love to me every night. Every night for the past several years. I dream of your hands, your mouth, your body inside mine. Do you know what kind of torment that is?” she asked him, her green eyes burning into his.
Actually, Severus did. He went through that with Hermione before and after he’d taken her virginity. The witch was right. It was torment. But he couldn’t help that.
“I do, Miss Divine. I have gone through something similar concerning my wife. It is a torment, but you have to be realistic. I can never make love to you. I already have a wife and lover,” he said softly, trying to spare her feelings as much as possible.
“I would do anything for you. Anything to please you…whatever you wanted. Whatever you asked of me…” the witch said, now squirming to get out of her seat and come to him. Good gods.
Severus had not expected Odessa to try to blatantly seduce him. He knew any other man in his position would probably be on the beautiful witch already, sampling what she offered. But he had his wife…she gave him all the pleasures he craved. Gods, it was getting hot in here.
“Miss Divine, I am flattered that you find me, desirable…but I cannot take what you offer me. You have to release your image of me and find someone who will be willing to love you back. I am not. I cannot and I will not,” Severus said.
“Couldn’t you at least, relieve me of what I’m feeling…let me know what I cannot have forever? Just one time, Professor…please,” Odessa begged him, she felt as if she were going to burst into flames if he didn’t touch her soon.
If this had been the pre-Hermione Severus, Odessa would have been bent over the sofa by now, getting just what she was asking him for, in spades. But this was the happily-married-to-the-most-desirable-woman-in-the-world Severus. He felt sorry for the witch, and her unmet desires, but not sorry enough to break his vows and fuck her.
“Miss Divine, you are asking me for something I cannot give you. Not one time. Not ever. I’m sorry. You must realize that I am not the man for you,” he said gently, picking up his pumpkin juice and taking a long swallow of the cool liquid.
Odessa’s eyes narrowed as she waited for the lust potion to take hold of him, and him to take hold of her.

A/N: Severus isn’t thinking. He just drank a lust potion. Hermione would have probably told him not to accept anything she offered him via the connection, but Hermione is asleep. Severus isn’t the suspicious man he was years ago, that’s the only reason Odessa got him. Anyway, another cliffie. Please review rabidly for quicker update. :::g::: And thanks to all those who reviewed and are reviewing. I check for those probably as often as you guys check for updates J. More soon. Let’s hope it’s not a lemon. Lol.
