Twenty-Six: Revenge of the Half-Blood Prince (UPDATED)
The moment I finished reading HBP, I realized that not only was most fanfiction -- including mine -- now completely invalid, but also that I could not complete this story. Knowing what I know now, I realize that certain events in this story can never take place, not without twisting the facts so sharply that they become unrecognizable.
It sucks, too, because I totally expected HBP to be more like Attack of the Clones and less like The Empire Strikes Back. I was hoping to be able to finish this.
Instead, it\'s going up on the shelf.
I will not stop writing fanfic. I will not stop writing regular fic. Check back with my author page often; you never know when a new story idea will hit me. I\'m always willing to share.
But for now, I must let most of these characters melt away into the ether.
I hope you\'ve enjoyed reading the past 23 chapters as much as I\'ve enjoyed writing them. Thanks to everyone who has left impassioned pleas for me to continue this story. I really appreciate it.
A couple of days ago, I restarted a sci-fi story that I\'m developing into a book. That\'s taking up all my brainspace right now. When I peter out on that, I will consider returning to this.
I really did like all my characters. The problem is that with the events of HBP, I just can\'t look at them in the same way anymore, even though it would be an AU and I could do what I wanted with them.
The wounds are too fresh right now; I have to concentrate on something else. However, I will seriously think about coming back to this story. I promise.
