Chapter 26
Chloe’s head turned as her bedchamber door opened. She couldn’t help but smile as her eyes devoured Severus standing in his black trousers. He wore no shirt and he was massaging his forehead.
He dropped his hand and looked at her.
“Good morning.” She said softly. He walked over to her and laid a single kiss on the top of her head. His hand began to delicately play with her hair.
“I must leave. I need to eat breakfast and I need to speak with Dumbledore this morning as well.” She turned to look at him.
“Well, Frenny was coming back with your breakfast. If you care to, you can eat here and then go. I have to teach my classes this morning. I have been absent for a little while.” He looked down at her and their eyes met. She saw his face in the early morning light and she watched his eyes. He was thinking about something…
“You’re in my chair.” Was all he said. She smiled and shook her head.
“Yes well…sit down then.” Chloe stood and motioned for him to take his chair. He sat and just when she was walking away to sit on the couch, he grabbed her hand and pulled. Chloe tumbled into his lap and he kissed her neck. She sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Tell me something, Professor Browning..” his words were muffled as he was still imbedded at the nape of her neck. “why is it you have never acted on any of your…desires? It would have saved an awful lot of confusion.” She snorted her disbelief.
“Right…you couldn’t possibly be any less approachable. I can see it now. ‘Professor Snape, I have long held an affection for you. What say you?’” She mimicked a very business like manner. It surprisingly sounded a lot like Minerva.
Still enjoying lavishing kisses on her , she heard his muffled laugh.
They both turned to the sound of a ‘POP’.
Frenny stood holding a silver platter, piled with an assortment of foods and drinks. Her eyes fell on the two sitting in the chair and the platter began to rattle with her frightened shaking. Chloe looked at Severus and he was eyeing Frenny with a sort of amusement.
Chloe released herself from Severus’ clutches and began laying the food out on the table with Frenny. It was most unusual for Frenny to be so quiet. Normally, she would be chattering like a canary. But this morning…
“Severus…perhaps you should thank Frenny for all of her help. She was of assistance to you when you had fallen…ill. As well as her help in…other things.” Chloe stood and watched Frenny fiddle with her dishtowel dress. Severus came behind Chloe and wrapped an arm possessively around her waist and resumed his kisses on her neck.
“Severus?” She said again trying not to giggle.
“Thank you Frenny. Thank you very much indeed.” Came his deep voice from somewhere behind Chloe’s curtain of hair. Chloe laughed and Frenny looked up and quickly back down.
“Thank you again Frenny. You are truly the best.” Frenny’s mouth stretched into a large grin. Without meeting the gazes of the two people before her, she spoke.
“Thank you Ms. Chloe. Frenny will go now.” She said in a very high squeak.
“I’ll see you later then Frenny.” Chloe said.
And they were alone again.
