Their Story Begins

This will be the final chapter. But don't worry, I'm thinking of turning this into a series. Tell me what you think.

Lucius flat-out refused to order one of the ‘hamburgers.’ He opted instead for a grilled chicken salad. Narcissa, feeling more daring, ordered a triple-layer bacon and triple cheese cheeseburger with grilled onions and peppers. Dudley ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Harry ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and grilled onions.

Narcissa eyed her plate hungrily when the food arrived. Lucius looked at the plate, then at his small wife.

“You aren’t going to eat all that…?” he asked. She looked at him.

“I’m about to get my period and I am ravenous…” she said, and the men pulled a face.

“TMI…” Dudley said softly.

Narcissa cut her burger in four pieces, and used her knife and fork to cut off pieces to eat. Dudley and Harry laughed softly.

“What?” she asked innocently, unaware of the source of their humor.

Harry picked up his sandwich. “You’re supposed to eat it with your hands.” He said softly, and took a bite of his burger. She scoffed.

“And risk getting food on my dress? Hah.” She said, and continued her method of eating the huge sandwich. And much to the surprise of every male at the table….she finished it. Albeit it took her longer to finish hers than it had taken the others to finish theirs, but she indeed finished the monstrous sandwich. Lucius watched her the entire time in absolute disbelief that his petite wife could eat a sandwich that was the size of her head.

She sat back in her seat and rested her hands on her full tummy.

“Yummy.” She said, and hiccupped softly. Lucius shook his head.

“My god…you’re like a walking hunger pang…” he said softly. She glared at him.

“Shut it. You don’t know what it’s like to be female…” she said angrily. Lucius looked at Harry.

“You can stay if you want, but Narcissa and I have had enough of this Muggle-fest.” He said. Harry smiled.

“Thanks for sticking it out this long, you guys. You can leave.” He said. Dudley looked slightly confused.

“How are they going to leave? I drove them here…” he said. Narcissa smiled.

“My dear boy…witches and wizards have been able to get around this world for far longer than you’ve had your silly cat.”

“Car.” He said.

“Whatever. What I’m trying to say is: we’ll be fine. Toodles.” She said softly, and She and Lucius stood, walking out of the restaurant and behind the building.

“Where did they go?” Dudley asked.

“To Apparate.” Harry replied.

“What’s that?”

“It’s like a magical teleportation.” He said. Dudley nodded.

“Cool.” He said.

Lucius and Narcissa arrived in Malfoy Manor, and Narcissa retired to their room to take a nap. Lucius Apparated to the sitting room to relax. Abraxas was in the room, reading a book. Draco was lounging on a chair, one leg slung over the arm with a book in his hand as well. Lucius sat on the sofa, and leaned back.

“Where’ve you been?” his son asked.

“None of your concern. I was on business and that’s all you need to know.” He said softly. Draco looked at him.

“All right, all right…don’t get your knickers in a twist.” He replied.

Abraxas looked up from his book angrily.

“If you ladies are through bickering…some of us are trying to read…” he hissed angrily.

Lucius’ cool blue eyes turned to his grandson. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were getting cheeky.” He said softly.

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were on to something.” Abraxas said. Lucius stood, and Abraxas swallowed hard, knowing he’d pushed his grandfather too far. Lucius looked at Draco. Draco nodded, giving silent permission to his father.

“Come here Abraxas.” Lucius ordered softly. Abraxas started to protest, and Lucius’ chin raised slightly to defer him. Abraxas looked at his grandfather in fear, and stood slowly.

“I’m sorry grandfather…” he said, his breathing becoming shaky. Lucius frowned.

“That’s fantastic, but you’re still going to be punished…” he said. Abraxas looked at his grandfather for a moment, and then did something that he hadn’t done before. He ran. Straight from the room, and as fast as he could go. Lucius growled.

“Damn him.” He said, and walked from the room.

Abraxas knew he was screwed royally. He also knew his grandfather would check his room first. He needed someplace to hide. Now. He ran upstairs, and paused, wracking his brain. Most of the rooms upstairs were locked, except for personal bedrooms. He wasn’t about to run into his grandparents’ or his parents’ room. So he ran to Draca’s room. He threw open her door, startling her. She was sitting on her floor having a tea party with Mr. Dragon and two of her porcelain dolls. She looked up.

“What are you doing?” she asked, seeing the look of panic on his face. He shut her door.

“Hide me, sister…please!” he pleaded.

“Why? What’s wrong?” she asked, standing up.

“I shouldn’t have, but I spoke ill to grandfather. Please sister…I don’t want to be punished, Draca. Please…” he said. Draca looked at her brother. Draca knew that the Malfoy in her should have made her deny him. She should have let him face his punishment alone. But somehow Draca couldn’t do it. Even after all of the rotten things he had done to her, she couldn’t return the favor. It wasn’t in her nature. She looked around her room for a place for her brother to hide.

“The closet. Get in the closet.” She said, and ran to the door of her closet, and opening it for her brother.

He ran to the closet, and hid inside. She closed the door. She then returned to her spot on the floor as if nothing had happened.

It was only a few minutes before her grandfather tapped on her door.

“Draca?” he said softly, and poked his head in the door. She looked up.

“Yes?” she asked softly.

“Have you seen your brother?”

She paused a moment, her instincts clashing. “No.” she replied, too quickly. Lucius’ eyes narrowed at her.

“Draca….if you know where he is, then tell me.” He told her firmly.

“I don’t know where he is. I haven’t seen him today.” She said softly. Lucius pushed open her door, and her eyes flew to his hand. He had a cane.

“Draca…I would hate for you to be a part of this. I don’t want to punish you. Where is he?” he asked.

Draca looked at her grandfather.

“I…I don’t know…where he is.” She said softly.

“You’re lying, Draca.” He said, and approached her. Her eyes widened. “My dear. My sweet. I don’t want to involve you in this. Just tell me where he is and I’ll leave.” He said softly. “You don’t disillusion yourself that he would do the same for you, do you? He wouldn’t. He would give you up at a moment’s notice.” He added. Draca’s eyes never left the cane. Lucius waited for a few moments. “Very well. You wish to involve yourself…stand up.” He said sternly. She took a shaky breath, and stood. “Go to the stool, Draca.”

Draca walked over to the stool in the corner. It hadn’t been used in months, but she was still terrified of it. She began to cry as she stepped up onto the foot rung.

“Draca…you don’t have to do this.” Lucius said softly. He didn’t want to have to strike Draca. He wasn’t looking forward to it. He gently lifted the tail of her skirt, and flipped it over her back. Her body trembled with
fear. Lucius took a deep breath, and raised the cane. Draca stiffened, expecting the blow.

“Wait!” came a muffled cry. Lucius look up as Draca’s closet flew open. Abraxas tumbled out, and stood quickly, throwing a skirt off his shoulder. Abraxas wiped his eyes quickly, and it was clear he had been crying. “Don’t hit her…” he sobbed softly. Draca looked up at her brother.

“Why, brother? I would have taken a few stripes for you…” she said softly.

“I know. And it wouldn’t have been fair. After all of the rotten things I’ve done to you…I don’t deserve to have your help.” He said softly. Draca flipped her skirt down and stood from the stool. She walked over to her brother.

“Stripes and bruises fade, Abraxas. And I can get new dolls…but I can’t get another brother. You were frightened…and I know what that’s like. So I was going to protect you…” she said, and wrapped her arms around him. Abraxas was blindsided. He hadn’t expected this. His face twisted as one who was about to burst into tears, and then he took a deep breath and stopped. Lucius balanced the cane on the stool, and went over to his grandchildren. He knelt beside Abraxas.

“This time…it’ll be okay…” he said softly to the boy, and Abraxas burst into tears. He wrapped his arms around his sister, and Lucius wrapped his arms around both of them.

This felt right. For the first time since he had left Azkaban, something inside him was at peace. He had dealt with conflict since he had come home. It had started with Draco and his Possession, causing him to abuse Draca. It had continued with Abraxas’ continuing malice, especially after his father had sent himself to Azkaban. This conflict had been like a poison that had eaten away at him. But he could see the antidote. He could see the change starting in Abraxas. The boy was releasing his bitterness. Yes, he was a Malfoy, and was expected to depend on himself…but there came a time when oneself couldn’t be relied on. Lucius had wished several times when he was younger that he had a sibling. Someone he could relate to. Not just a mindless follower like his friends at school had been. Abraxas had what Lucius had longed for, and the boy was finally realizing it.

There was a new generation of Malfoys, and their story was just beginning.
