Apologies & Amends

Just wanted to get this out before the weekend!!!

Happy St. Pat\'s Day!

Ch. 26

Apologies & Amends Part 1

Harry and Ginny looked at the clock in horror, realizing the time they jumped into the shower, got dressed and rushed into the kitchen to find their guests standing beside the stove, fixing dinner.

Horrified, Ginny asked quickly “When, uh, did you two get here?” as she walked over to the stove to take over the last minute preparations for the meal. Noticing their smirks before replying with a straight face, “oh, just a few minutes ago”

Ginny’s face turned as red as her hair, knowing full well they had heard her and Harry. Hermione noticed her friends embarrassment and burst out laughing. Playfully shoving Draco toward the living room she whispered for him to go out and talk with Harry before quickly kissing him and turning back to her friend.

Draco walked into the living room to find Harry standing beside a magical wooden bar top floating up from behind the short bookcase across the far side of the cozy, little room, settling atop the Oak piece before turning to Draco and asking if he\'d like a drink. A wide smile on his face as he poured to very stiff drinks of Firewhiskey.

"Potter"

"Malfoy"

They both spoke aloud at the same time. Draco looking everywhere around the room but towards Harry.Harry standing with his hand in his pocket and shifting his weight from one foot and to the other as he sipped his drink before they both birst out laughing and falling onto the cream colored settee.

"So, you finally worked up the courage did ya?" Harry cocked an eyebrow and caught Draco\'s eyes this time.

"Actually, I\'m pretty sure Fate stepped in on this one. Although, I have definately convinced myself I\'d been an idiot fro the last 5 years." His gaze moving from Harry to the kitchen doorway where her tinkling laughter spilled across his ears, a soft sigh escaped his lips. Realizing he probably looked like some love sick fool he quickly took a sip of his drink before turning the heat on Potter himself.

"So, I hear things are well with you two" he cocked his best smirk at him before downing the rest of his drink and standing to refill the small glass.

Silence met the room as he poured his drink, turning to find Harry sitting upon the couch with a very satisfied smirk on his own face and his gaze also trained on the kitchen doorway.

"Sod off Malfoy," he chuckled lightly "If I know you, I wouldn\'t place any bets on Hermione being too stressed or wound up for dinner." Raising his eyebrows and his drink to Malfoy they both chuckled and began speaking of the coming Quidditch season.

***In The Kitchen***

"Ginny, dinner smells fabulous" Hermione was busying herself setting the table, an absolute serene look upon her face.

"Thanks, mums recipes are the best." She kept her eyes trained upon dinner, rather than having to face her friend. She was utterly embarrassed that her & Malfoy had heard her and Harry. I mean really, who invites guests over, then forgets the time and has some much needed stress relieving good ol\' shagfest, with the door open no less? It just went down to show that Ginny had truly lost her mind over the whole Malfoy debacle.

Hermione\'s words broke her out of her thoughts as she could hear in her friends voice that she was doing her best not to chuckle out load.

"So, what have you and Harry been up to?" Unable to control herself at the look on Ginny\'s reddening face, she burst out laughing and moved to embrace her best friend in a warm hug.

Ginny, deciding she needed to get over it already, I mean this was Hermione, laughed out loud as well. Pushing her friend back to look her in the face, her hands gripping her upper arms, she spoke softly and seriously to her friend.

"I\'m sorry Hermione. I was wrong and I hurt you, and I never want to do that again" Tears pooling in her eyes, the shame washing over her at Hermione\'s understanding look. Suddenly she was buried in Hermione\'s bushy hair and wrapped in a tight embrace.

"Well, that\'s all in the past and all I would like to talk about is the future, my very near future. Ginny, you and Harry are my best friends, I love you more than anything in the world and it would mean the world to me if you would stand beside me at my wedding, be my Matron of Honour Ginny?"

Ginny smiled as tears streamed down her face. Forcing herself to think before she opened her mouth, the resistance strong in her heart was being pushed aside by the love and friendship she had for the girl in front of her.

"I would be honored Hermione. I only want to see you happy and if that means that Malf... Draco, if that means that Draco is what makes you happy, then I\'m happy"

"Thanks Gin" Hermione smiled wide. "You have no idea how much this means to me"

"Well, it seems as though the past should stay just that, the past. I have an apology to make, will you come with me?"

Grabbing her hand, Hermione walked through the doorway to find her two favoirite men sitting on the couch. . . arguing.

"No way Potter, it\'s never gonna happen" Draco firmly told Harry who was standing beside the bar with his hands in the air.

"You\'ll never understand Malfoy, that\'s the way it is and you\'re gonna have to accept that if you plan on. . ."

He never finished his sentence as Hermione walked between the two, pressing her hands to their chests and yelling at the to "Stop it!"

"What is going on here? Why are you two arguing?" Hermione had thought everything was going to be okay. She had told Harry, he was fine with it, in fact he encouraged it and told her it was about time. What would make him change his mind?

"Uh, sorry love" Draco sheepishly leaned over and brushed a chaste kiss upon her cheek, grapping her hand in his own.

A bark of laughter behind her brought a confused frown upon her face as she looked at Harry\'s smiling face.

"Sorry, Mione, we were just arguing about the Puddlemere season" He raised his eyebrows to emphasize it had nothing to do with her and Draco.

"Oh" she breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Draco, Ginny would like to say something to you, would you mind giving her a moment" She clutched his hand in hers, pulling him to sit beside her on the settee. Harry had walked across the room and encased Ginny in a loving hug, whispering in her ear before placing a kiss upon the corner of her mouth.

Taking a deep breath Ginny looked to Draco Malfoy sitting on her settee, in her house, holding her best friend\'s hand as he looked up to her with apprehension.

"Mal. . ., Draco, I wanted to say that I\'m sorry for the way I\'ve treated you these past five years. I know we haven\'t really seen each other since you left Grimmauld, and only a couple times recently, with Hermione, but I believe I\'ve been pretty unfair towards you and wanted to say, I\'m sorry. What happened was a long time ago and should be put aside, but even more than that, I\'m sorry I ever blamed you for Ron\'s death. It seems pretty obvious you had absolutely nothing to do with it.

You came to us, helped us, saved most of us in this room in fact." Grasping Harry\'s hand tightly in her own, she turned to look into those beautiful green eyes that could still melt her heart even after all these years.

"If you hadn\'t been there, Harry wouldn\'t be here now. Hermione wouldn\'t be here now. I thank you for saving the two most important people in my life. I only hope that you can forgive my actions of the past and can only promise you to treat you fairly from here on out." Tilting her head towards Hermione she continued as her gaze stayed on Draco "That is, as long as you don\'t hurt Mione. Then it\'s on" she said firmly, and smiling.

Draco was set back to hear Weasley\'s speech. He thought for sure she would tell him she may not like him, but she\'d put up with him for Hermione\'s sake. He hadn\'t planned on her apologizing for something that happened so long ago.

With a bright smile on his face he looked to Hermione, Harry and then Ginny before telling her, "I have no intentions of ever hurting Hermione. I love her with all of my life, I\'d give it for her in a heartbeat. As for saving anyone, I was just doing my part and helping in the war. I didn\'t want to see anyone die. I guess I was being a bit selfish, trying to stay out of it for so long.”

Draco fell silent as his thoughts ran away from him.
