Escape
Hermione stumbled through the corridors, ignoring the stares from students going to the Great Hall for breakfast. Her vision was blurred by her tears, but she didn't care. All she cared about was distancing herself from Draco as much as possible.
She just couldn't believe he'd go back to Pansy Parkinson. He'd told her he had no feelings for her whatsoever, but that must've been a lie. Maybe Ron was right about him, maybe all he cared about was getting laid. And to think she actually cared about him, she'd believed all his lies about wanting to help her and make her happy. All those times he'd held her while she'd cried, all thrown away.
She'd thought Draco was different. That maybe he'd changed, but obviously he hadn't. She was nothing to him, just another notch on his belt. All those times he'd comforted her, making her believe someone actually cared, all meant nothing.
She needed to get away, far away. She wanted to leave it all behind and be alone, away from classes, from Ron, from all her pain.
Her chest hurt as sobs racked through her body. She was struggling to take each breath as she ran through the open doors, out into the grounds. The cold air hit her, whipping her face, but she took no notice. She didn't even know where she was going, she just followed her feet, trusting them to take her away from everything. In the distance she could see a mass of trees through her teary eyes, not even caring how dangerous her destination was.
Draco told the portrait the password as it swung open. He led Pansy inside the common room, walking with determination.
He was going to show Hermione, show her what a mistake she'd made. All he could think about was stopping the pain. He wanted to make her feel what he was feeling, to know how it felt to have her heart ripped out of her chest and stomped on. She deserved it, she deserve to be made to think she meant nothing, just like she'd done to him.
Draco led Pansy up the stairs to his bedroom, a smug smile on her face. His heart was beating hard in his chest, his anger still bubbling just below the surface.
He let go of Pansy's hand as he closed to door behind him, allowing her to examine his room. Instead of looking around, she made a bee line for the bed, sitting down on the dark blankets and throwing off her school robes. Draco noticed her uniform skirt looked far too short to be acceptable, and her shirt seemed too small for her chest. She crossed her legs, causing the skirt to ride up even further and patted a spot beside her on the bed.
Draco made his way over, but instead of sitting down, he stood infront of the blonde, looking down at her. She looked up at him, waiting for his next move as he thought about what he was going to do.
Draco had slept with Pansy countless time before, but this time he was much more reluctant. Sure, she was annoying, but she was a good shag. Shagging her normally got his mind off things, and she was always a good rebound girl. Not that she even minded being his second choice, she knew that they were arranged to be married, so in the end, she would win. Plus, she probably liked having sex just as much as him, so she didn't care what the circumstances were.
He was about to turn around and leave, when Hermione's words began to ring through his ears. Call it spiteful, call it selfish, call it whatever, but all he could think of was getting his mind off of her, to show her that she meant nothing to him, and if he could get laid in the process, so be it. Draco then grabbed Pansy by the shoulders and threw her onto the bed. She spread her legs, probably out of habit, so he rested between them. Draco looked into her face, the expectant expression on her pug face, her blonde hair sprawled out across the pillow where Hermione's head had once rested. Pansy roughly grabbed the collar of Draco's shirt, pulling him down for a kiss.
As Pansy's tongue invaded Draco's mouth, his hands made their way up to her hair. He frowned through the kiss at the soft feel of the hair, so unlike the curly mess he was used to. Pansy didn't seem to notice as she continued to assault his mouth.
As her tongue massaged his own, Draco tried to force himself to get in the mood. The only problem was, he just couldn't. He tried picturing Pansy naked, or remembering the great feeling of shooting his seed into her wet passage, but still nothing. The only thing that kept popping into his mind was Hermione, and the strong scent of her shampoo on the pillow below Pansy didn't help. He kept picturing Hermione's beautiful smile and that amazing laugh. He could even remember exactly how she'd smelled the night she slept in his bed, like a garden full of lavenders.
Draco's thoughts were rudely interupted when he felt Pansy's hands slowly making their way down his body to his belt buckle, having already thrown his robes off while he was consumed in his thoughts. He tried as hard as he could to stop thinking of Hermione, but he just kept picturing her face and remembering as good it felt to hold her, her body fitting perfectly with his.
Before he knew it, Draco had pushed Pansy away and sat up. He looked down at her, her blue, lust filled eyes staring up at him as her chest heaved up and down. Her skirt was pulled up, giving him a full view of her lacy black knickers, and somehow a few buttons had undone on her shirt so her large breasts were almost popping out of it. And that's when he realize, he wasn't attracted to her, any of her. Sure, Pansy was annoying and her face resembled a pug far too much, but Draco had always thought that she was attractive. But now, she couldn't even imagining being able to sleep with her. Once he came to think of it, he couldn't really imagine himself sleeping with any other girls, well, except for one.
Draco practically jumped from the bed, causing Pansy to sit up and give him an odd look.
"Something wrong, baby?" She asked, her face in a slight pout. Draco didn't reply, he just grabbed his robes from off the floor and put them back on, scowling.
"Wait, where are you going?" Pansy said, jumping off the bed as Draco made for the door.
"That's none of your busniess," He told her. "But when I come back, you better not be here." He then opened the door and walked out, slamming it in her stunned face.
Draco walked fast out of the Heads' Quarter, thinking hard. At first he'd thought he could just forget about Hermione if he was with someone else, but obviously that didn't work. He needed to find her and make this all better. He hated fighting with her and he now knew he definately didn't want to cause her any more pain.
He still hadn't forgotten the words she said to him the night before, but he knew that when he was angry he often said things he didn't mean, so he just hoped it was the same with her.
Draco practically ran through the halls, students passing by on their way to class. He knew Hermione had Charms first, so he decided to check there first. He made his way to Professor Flitwick's classroom where students were standing outside the doors. He easily found Potter and grabbed him roughly by the shoulder, turning him around.
"What the hell?" Potter exclaimed, glaring at Draco.
"Where's Hermione?" He asked quickly. Potter must've noticed the urgency in his voice because he glare turned into an expression of concern.
"I don't know, she ran out of the Great Hall at breakfast and I haven't seen her since." He told him. Draco let out a groan and ran back the way he came, deciding Potter wasn't going to be any help.
Draco ran around the school searching for Hermione. He knew she wasn't in the common room, so he checked the library, but she wasn't there. He even asked a group of fifth year Hufflepuffs if they'd seen her, but no one had since breakfast. He checked the Great Hall to see if she had gone back there, but no luck. He knocked on everything girl's lavatory door he could find, but she wasn't in any of those either.
Classes had already began when Draco found himself out of ideas. He needed to go somewhere to think, somewhere where Filch wouldn't find him skiving off his classes. He decided to go to the clearing in the forest, craving the quiet and peace it brought.
He walked purposely through the grounds, pushing passed students and making his way to the forest. He entered through the trees and walked through into the darkness. The trees were so thick that little light shone through the top. He walked on in silence for a while, longing to find a way to make him forget the passed day's events.
Hermione ran for as long as she could through the thick mass of trees. Her side hurt from the strain, but she ignored it. Just when she thought she might pass out from the lack of oxygen, she tripped over a tree root, falling onto the cold, hard ground.
She laid there for a while, with her face in the grass, sobbing and tearing the grass on the ground. She hated Draco for doing this to her, for making her feel this way. She wished she could get a break, find a way to escape her life. She needed a vacation from being herself, maybe to live someone else's life. She was tired of falling for a git and then getting hurt. She was angry at herself for what she'd let Draco do to her, for letting herself open up to him, for actually believing that someone actually cared for her.
When Hermione finally lifted her head, she saw she was in a large clearing. She could hear a stream running slowly and saw a large rock sitting in the middle. The place seemed oddly familiar and peaceful, but in her state she couldn't remember when she'd been there. Hermione made herself stand and walk over to the rock, touching it's smooth surface. The tears kept flowing, but she could see more clearly now. The sun was shining down bright, giving a bit of warmth to the bitter air.
Hermione decided to take a few calming breaths, noticing how the tears on her face stung against the cold air. She closed her eyes, willing the tears to go away, but they just wouldn't. She kept cursing Draco under her breath, hoping that if she kept reminding herself of what a jerk he was, she'd stop crying.
Suddenly, Hermione heard a sound like a twig snapping in two from behind her. She turned around sharply to find Draco standing at the edge of the clearing, a look of surprise on his face.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, her voice filled with anger. "Come to make me feel even worse? Make fun of the mudblood perhaps?"
Draco's mouth opened slightly in shock as he stared at her silently. All thoughts of sadness were gone as a sudden feeling of anger coursed through her.
"What's wrong, Malfoy? Did Parkinson swallow your tongue?" Hermione half shouted, not knowing where this courage was coming from.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Draco asked, his face in a scowl.
"I'm talking about you and the school slut herself walking out of the Great Hall hand in hand." She replied.
"How the hell would you know if I left with Pansy? You were too busy flirting with Potter to notice!" He yelled at her, his fists balled at his sides.
"Why would you care if I was flirting with Harry? You're the one who went and shagged her. Funny how you got over your dislike of her so fast." Hermione spat at him. It felt so good to be getting these words out, giving her a kind of release like nothing else.
"See, here you go again, thinking you know everything! I've told you before, don't talk about things you know nothing about." Draco told her, glaring.
"Oh like it's not obvious what you two did?" Hermione couldn't believe what he was saying, did he think was an idiot? "Walking hand in hand out of the Great Hall in the middle of breakfast, it seems pretty obvious what you went to do!".
"You don't know what you're talking about." Draco growled, his jaw clenched.
"Oh really? Then please, enlighten me! Prove me wrong!" She shouted. Draco's mouth opened as if he was going to talk, but he closed it quickly as if thinking about what he was going to say.
"You really wanna know what happened? Fine, I'll tell you," He said to her. "I tossed and turned all fucking night, feeling like an ass for what I said. I could sleep all night thinking about what you'd said to me. But when I woke up, I thought maybe it was just a stupid little fight, that neither of us meant anything we'd said. Then at breakfast I see you laughing and flirting with Potter, like nothing at all happened, so you know what, I decided I could do that too. If that's how you wanted it, I could pretend like you were nothing too. I did mean to fuck Pansy, but I couldn't. I couldn't stop fucking thinking about you. But that's how it always is, I can never stop thinking about you."
"Well excuse me for getting in the middle of you getting laid!" Hermione replied, getting more angry with every word he said. Draco took a few steps towards her, but she didn't back up. She stood her ground, half expecting him to hit her.
"But that's the thing," Draco said, his voice low. "I had a sexy, perfectly willing girl under me, and all I could think of was you. All I can ever think of is you, and I'm getting tired of it."
Hermione didn't understand what he was getting at, and was surprised at his words. "So what, you getting mad at me because you can't get me out of your head?"
"No, I'm getting mad because I don't want you out of my head." Hermione's breath caught in her throat. In one swift movement, Draco was right infront of her, his hands cupping her tear stained face. She looked up into his silver eyes, seeing them bright and alive with warmth. She felt like she could get lost staring into those silver orbs. Then, before she knew what was happening, Draco's lips were on her's.
Her body felt hot and tingled all over. Her head was spinning and her legs felt like they were going to give way at any moment. All of her thoughts seemed to melt away, all she could think of were Draco's lips on her's and how amazing it felt to finally be kissing him. She leaned her body into his, fitting perfectly against his form. His arms encircled her waist tightly, pulling her close.
Hermione couldn't believe how right this felt, it was just the escape she'd been craving. She'd never pictured kissing Draco to feel so good, but it did. It didn't seem wrong, or dirty, or anything like she would have thought it was. It just felt...right.
